  1. Agreed, it would appear they are repeatedly sending the same dodgy amp out.
  2. It's nothing to do with hand size, I get crippling pain across the back of my left hand when I play a jazz neck.
  3. I think yours is pretty unusual, from the little information I can find. It's all moot anyway, I can't live with a 38mm nut on a 4-string let alone an 8!
  4. I haven't even looked at the other end, if I am to keep the octave strings parallel there simply isn't room at the nut end. I'm not a fan of narrow necks as it is so no matter what I'm going wider ๐Ÿ‘
  5. That's what I thought, the bridge I have here has blank saddles but even at the narrowest possible placement will not fit with the Thunderbird nut.
  6. That's the plan mate ๐Ÿ‘ Does it need to be moved? Obviously not a problem if it does ๐Ÿ™‚
  7. The bridge has arrived, all in it cost me less than ยฃ80 so I'm happy with that. The Thunderbird neck definitely won't work, as the paired strings need to be parallel. I've just done stage one of a yellow-ectomy on the body - I quite like how it looks now!
  8. It looks just like the Schaller bridge I recently purchased to convert a Thunderbird into an 8 string. I'll be changing the neck though.
  9. I have plenty of Titebond original here - you're welcome to have some ๐Ÿ‘ clamps too, if you need them. A little goes a long way, this bottle will last years!
  10. Man alive, the grain in that fingerboard ๐Ÿฅฐ
  11. Strap button position is bob on too ๐Ÿ‘
  12. A lot of it is hand position, back by the bridge it'll sound lighter and tighter. He's also got the neck pickup turned down for the intro.
  13. It's interesting, none of the bands I've played with would have left that alone. I've listened to the original hundreds of times and never considered that it needed any changes.
  14. I found this interesting How many of you would have been happy with that take (assuming it was done in one) I'd have been asking to punch in quite a few places, although to be fair it's not really noticeable on the full track.
  15. Kmise necks are pretty good for the money.
  16. I have loads of clamps and a bottle of Titebond here ๐Ÿ‘
  17. It's going to be a fun journey! I'm going to do lots of mock-up work with bits of cardboard before I actually cut anything up ๐Ÿ˜‰ I haven't ruled out the Thunderbird neck yet, I think it could work. It will sound mighty if it does ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  18. I struggle with tight bridge spacing, as well as narrow necks. Fat fingers...
  19. I've always thought they would be so cramped as to be unplayable?
  20. Progress... I managed to get hold of a Schaller from the states for under ยฃ60 (plus whatever customs want when it gets here) I also have a 5-string maple P neck on the way which I think will work. Fun times!
