  1. I think it's the bridge that's out of square, deliberately 👍
  2. You tune the same, it's the intonation tuning that's different
  3. I have experience, I also have a good ear for pitch. I couldn't see any benefit, frankly.
  4. It is exactly that, just a minor intonation adjustment that can be achieved with a standard bridge and any tuner that shows cents. There's a table here that shows the tuning.
  5. Is it just me that is seeing AI in here?
  6. @CamdenRob - wow!
  7. Couriers bring their own labels 👍 Always write the address on with marker pen though, just in case. GLWTS - I'm surprised it's still here tbh.
  8. I enjoy listening to him! A favourite moment came when he was standing in on the breakfast show on 6 "That was The War on Drugs there. I was down at Glastonbury Festival last weekend - I think they lost that particular battle!"
  9. If you want an MM with a narrow neck - get a Sterling.

  11. I've got one too, it sounds great with roundwounds.
  12. Bargain, if I hadn't just bought a rackmount power amp I'd be all over this. I'm wavering, frankly.
  13. Thanks folks - I'm quite liking the 2-piece bridge idea as it's a Thunderbird, but if a Schaller pops up at the right price it'll be hard to resist 👍
  14. The very same, I reckon it will be good. I think the sound will suit an 8. There is quite a bit of room on the headstock, but my fat fingers would prefer a bit more width on the fingerboard which is why I was thinking of a 5-string neck.
  15. Thanks @NancyJohnson that's great advice 👍 I'm looking at converting a certain yellow Thunderbird - just need to find a suitable 5-string neck. I was looking at Spector necks but I'm not keen on going to 35" scale.
  16. I'm looking at turning one of my bass guitars into an 8-string, using a 5-string neck with a new nut. Does anyone know of a properly adjustable bridge (with individual saddles) that doesn't cost the earth? The only one I can find is this one but it will double the spend if I buy it!
  17. There are also 21 fret necks with an overhang that can replace a 20 fret neck. 👍
