Mine is configured thusly (edited to add) @SICbass I've colour coded the pots as mine are in completely different places to yours and also neither match @Happy Jack's description 😃 Upper front - volume, no indent, green Lower front - pan, indented, blue Upper rear - bass, indented, red Lower rear - treble, indented, yellow Judging by the tape it's been apart at some point...

I usually play a 5 but don't mind a 4, especially for drop-D. 5s are just easier to get around on and the low notes are cool, they go great with synths too. I own way more 4s because all the weird/old/cool stuff I like was made that way. Very few of mine see a stage but they are there for noodling or studio requirements. Someday I'll upgrade my two fivers (fretted and fretless) but it's not a big need.

That is really excellent, thank you for for sharing. Some really evocative tunes - I was checking off the ones in my old vinyl pile! Have to agree with @silverfoxnik re. the folk/goth connections - both are significant parts of my own musical heritage and the links are very strong in many ways. As you say in the film though - goth as a movement is an extremely broad church! That realisation of how your playing is informed by these early influences is a fun point too. I can remember going back to records my parents and peers played long before I started playing - having sudden light bulb moments of "Oh wow - that's where I got that from!"

I have an Ibanez P-bass which is pretty much the same age as me, that's good enough for me. It's a lovely thing and I enjoy playing it. Knowing we have been around for the same amount of time is a feeling all of its own.

The Zutons' original actually makes sense. The Ronson/Winehouse version has a feel that is completely at odds with the lyrical content. It's a fun sounding tune, but I much prefer the original.
