  1. This is the kind of thing that occurred to me earlier... Busking it!
  2. They all sound the same to me. 👍
  3. Looks like he has the stock PUP fitted for that one too... after reading his comments, it seems the sound you didn't like on 'Josie' was when he converted the 4003s to a 4000 and fitted a 'boutique' PUP... which I don't think he liked himself much, either. 👍
  4. The same bass with the stock PUP fitted: Better?
  5. You clearly don't like the tones of a Rickenbacker, which is fine. I do think you should be barred from ever owning one, otherwise we'll get the inevitable thread saying: "Listen to this thing! The only way to set the PUP height is to have the E, A and G strings slightly distorting - otherwise the flipping D is too quiet... even then it's a bit quiet... and I've cut my finger on the stupid PUP surround. And don't even get me started on the whole stupid bridge assembly! 😬". I didn't hear Steely Dan records either, back in the day. But now I can appreciate Peg and Josie, especially with the bonus of Chuck Rainy on the bass. Josie in the pub 👍
  6. The OP has stated: " The budget is for the instrument only". That ^^^^^ is absolutely first class advice IMHO. 👍
  7. What a fantastic looking and sounding bass that is! 😃 *adds to watch list*
  8. 1000 - 1500? Probably something mediaeval. That's assuming the OP meant 1000 - 1500 AD. 👍
  9. Going off topic here - but - Family Stand!? I loved their big songs at least.
  10. Yep, track 15 on the Stain CD = Love Rears (live). 👍 (Says on the front: European Edition Featuring 2 bonus tracks)
  11. It might have only been the CD album had it as a bonus track... I'll look for it now, one sec
  12. Word around the campfire -- it was Calhoon the drummer who most wanted Doug Wimbish in the band. They were big mates already, allegedly... 😗 Muzz Skillings was (is) fantastic... 😥
  13. Stain. I think that's got 'Love Rears' Live on it, with Muzz on bass - which is great. 👍 At least, I think the CD version had it as a bonus track.
  14. Another thing is all the 'legals' if every covers band has to try and make a few bob from 'patrons' on the internet: https://www.openmicuk.co.uk/advice/do-you-need-a-licence-to-do-cover-songs/ Not the same as doing your set on a Saturday night down the Fox & Filofax, is it... 😬
  15. Living Colour - The 'Biscuits' EP is all the casual punter needs. Early stuff is spoiled by Ed Stadium's stadium production / later stuff has Wimbish all over it *spit*.
  16. First Bazzer Manilow, and now The Cure as well! ... *writes note in little black book* 😄
  17. The Specials - You only need the first album, and side one of More Specials.
  18. I only said it because there was a space after the Sex Pistols, and you were on a break, Sir! 👍
