  1. What???? The Stranglers were (are) my favorite band!!! And I never saw them play! But how did you know???? 🤒
  2. OK, in no particular order: 1. Robert Plant 2. Faithless 3. The Hamsters 4. The Stranglers 5. Ultravox 6. Depeche Mode 7. Tears For Fears 8. Eric Clapton 9. Slipknot 10. Dave Edmunds
  3. Victor W. Nobody ever sees him live:
  4. Hey Tibbs, I'm diggin' the orange throw on your chair. 👍
  5. Frankly, it's like a breath of fresh air to have you join up here with such enthusiasm and a great attitude. It's a welcome break from the current smell of fear and the rustling of 'The Independent' newspaper on many of our threads. Plus, you're basically mates with David Byrne!
  6. Sorry to be off topic - but she is playing her Jazz bass!
  7. Hrm, here's another who has his strings the wrong way up. ... 😗
  8. I know you've mentioned Tina Weymouth before -- Great, and her bass lines tend to be fairly 'accessible' to us mere mortal players! 👍 Also, tell us more about meeting David Byrne!! 😃
  9. It's not my fault! Since I installed the "Urban Insult Generator and Spellchecker®" It changes 'My wise friend Teebs from Manchester' into 'My weird friend Teebs from Madchester'. I don't know what to do! 😬 I don't want to waste the 99p it cost me for the app... 😗
  10. Nice, but the Natural one looks like Kinga Glyk's Fender!
  11. That's true, I have two of those Vintage Jazz basses. This one was a bargain 'almost new' from a local music shop for £160. I think it was... it's nice, but the fret ends are a bit sharp. 😬 This 'Icon' was not such a good buy. Bought it privately - didn't check it over too well - truss rod was goosed! 👎
  12. Also, having a 'search' on here is useful -- here's one thread that popped up:
  13. Actually, my weird friend @Teebs has a Classic Vibe Jazz -- He will probably tell you about it!
  14. You're welcome! Yup, I'm sure you'll get lots more replies tomorrow, and welcome again to BC.
  15. I'm sure the 70s Vibe is not a bad choice at all. 👍 Ahh, juliaplaysgroove! I used that video ^^^^^ to (sort of) learn 'Juice' myself! Isn't she great! ... Lots of practice!!
  16. Well, looking at the current models here for example: Andertons With the CV 70s you get the maple board with block markers -vs- the matching paint job on the Contemporary, but you don't get maple (if you like maple?). Contemporary looks to also have the slightly nicer (chunkier) bridge. I'm no expert, but I doubt you'll be going far wrong with either model... they're likely to be broadly similar, and generally regarded as good value for the price... Unless you might prefer a shorter scale, in which case, Mustangs are REALLY fashionable at the moment! https://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-dept/bass-guitars/squier-classic-vibe-60s-mustang-bass-in-surf-green-lrl 😍
  17. Hi, thank you, and welcome, young one! You'll get lots of good tips from folks on here, but I'd say if the Contemporary is the one with the body coloured headstock -- Get that one! 😃
  18. Ooo, I don't know about the mobile view. I'll try to screenshot the ad, next time I see it. 👍
  19. Yup, but only a few hand-picked (and hand-stitched) ads. 👍 To be fair to admin, you should really 'allow' this site through your ad-blocker... 😗
  20. If it helps, I came across the isolated bass track on YT ages ago and stuck it on my 'to do' list:
  21. I remember @Happy Jack and @Silvia Bluejay met the great man in real life. IIRC I saw photo evidence!?
  22. I see there's a new advert on the forum. I'm struggling to judge whether they're cool, or ugly-donkey shoes -- So to help with my decission I'm wondering if our admins wear them? TIA 😄
