Aye, the Bongos look stellar IMHO.
It was a Bongo I wanted, but I felt chanceless as the second window (that I was unaware of) closed last week.

What do you mean with "glitzy" in this case (I've already looked it up), and which bass would that be? Your blue one, or maybe the tobacco?
For me there's a huge difference between a joyful over-the-topness or some bright colours that don't take themselves too seriously, and pure bling. Hard to explain in a foreign language, but I do like the pink Daisy Rock bass in my avatar - though not because I deem it the summum of good taste in avant garde design. :D

Oh yes, I was seriously lusting after a Bongo...sadly lacking in funds though before the window closed....hey ho. Perhaps I'll find a previously loved one at some point. Anyway, your 'ray looks fab. Enjoy it!

So far I have found the G string side rest very useful.... for putting the bass in a corner! It then rests on both rests preventing the head to contact the wall. But I doubt it that this was what Stagg intended...

That's what I do with mine!

Must say that I've had mine for three months now and whilst it's been tough on the left hand getting to grips with it I'm loving it so far.

I saw them at Wembley June '78 during what turned out to be the 'Live and Dangerous' tour. Pretty much set the bar as far as me and live music are concerned - I've enjoyed some gigs nearly as much since then (a couple this last year, as it happens) but nothing has bettered that night.

Slightly as an aside, I saw a Lizzy tribute band a few days ago - Limehouse Lizzy. It actually brought back a lot of memories. The band were very good but the front guy was absolutely amazing. He didn't try to mimic Lynott or dress like him (black stingray with mirror plate) but he had great stage presence and very reminiscent of Lynott. Well worth seeing if you haven't before.

I went to that one as well. A great night as I recall....it was a long time ago mind! I also saw "Thin Lizzy" just before they were re-christened Black Star Riders at The Cliffs Pavilion Southend. They were OK and did a good job on all the songs but....no Phil...

Was very sad when he passed.

When I was playing in my covers band I went out and bought the relevant CDs with the tracks that I needed to learn on them. I thought that if I'm going to be earning money playing the songs the least I could do is buy the CD with it on. As a plus I got to hear some other great songs that I wouldn't have done otherwise.

Same here. It seems only fair to me.

I send round mp3s so that everyone has the same version of the song. That way I know they've got it rather than hoping they remember to go to Dropbox or similar.

I'm sold on Bongo basses now!

Me too! Both mine are HH. I'd like to try an HS to see how they compare. I usually favour the neck pick up to the bridge perhaps 60/40 it growls like a monster!
