1. 10s and 12s for me. I found that a 15 sounded a bit flabby and not very focused. Mind you my experience is based on an old Peavey 15" Cab I used to have so I might need my ears updating!

6.
The 18v 4 band pre in a bongo is something entirely differant. u can really REALLY sculpt your sound. I prefer rays thru a big old valve amp hit hard, but a bongo thru a big old SS amp for nuance and definition. Easily outclasses the pre in many very expensive boutique basses. Just dont get one at home for playing on your knee, because the lower horn Knacks!
Bongos all way for me! They feel "just right" strapped on, not too heavy, great neck, and the pre amp is fab.
7. Did the deal with John yesterday for his MXR 822, great guy to do business with. It arrived today all as described. Bang on!

10.
I've been GASsing for a MM Bongo ever since I saw Gail Ann Dorsey playing a graphite 5'er with Bowie on his Reality tour at the SECC in Glasgow back in November 2003...still never even had a play on one, yet alone owned one!
Once you try one you'll love it.
11. Not to everyone's taste I know - I happen to love 'em. Here are my two Bongos, matching headstock as standard. 2012 HH Stealth 2008 HH Tangerine Pearl

14. That's probably the nicest T Bass I've seen...just wish I had £600 knocking around
15. I recently bought a 92/93 MIM Jazz of ebay for a reasonable price and set about upgrading it. Here's a before pic It was pretty filthy - I think the previous owner, who had it from new, gigged it and chucked it back in it's case and never cleaned it or changed the strings. It was quite grungy to be honest. So I stripped all the hardware of it and gave the body and the neck a damn good clean. Not too many dings despite the abuse and only minor buckle rash. So now I set about obtaining the bit to make it nice again. I decided that a tort plate was the way to go and The Bass Doc obliged with a nice replacement and KiOgon provided the control plate assembly complete with pots, cap and jack all wired up - lovely job. I bought a Gotoh 201B bridge which I think look great and have a lot more mass the BBOT that was on it. I was going to look into replacing the Pups but realised that Mexican Jazz basses have the same size Neck and Bridge Pups and all the off the shelf replacement upgrades I could find from Kent Armstrong, Seymour Duncan, etc and even Fender all have the wider Bridge Pup as used on USA built basses. The stock Pups sounded pretty good anyway so I decided to keep them. Has anyone fitted two neck ups to their MIM Jazz without any issues? Or does anyone know of some off the shelf replacements that a made to fit MIM Jazzes? I could find any but my Googling skills aren't that great...would be nice to know either way... Anyway a new set of strings and tweak on the truss rod and presto, I've got a really nice looking JB that plays nicely and sounds great too! Here's the finish article. Big thanks to The Bass Doc and KiOgon for their help and their fantastic service.
16. Just received my Tort 'guard for my Jazz. Super-quick turn round and a lovely job. Many thanks.
17. Lovely. It really isn't helping my Alembic induced GAS.....
18. Dammit! I'm all gassy again...
19. I used to have an Orion 5er. Wish I still had it.....
20. SUPER FAST Ordered a Jazz Bass control plate with knobs and pots all wired up and assembled yesterday afternoon and it arrived today. Looks the business and I can't wait to hook it up to some new JB pups. I have no doubt that they will sound epic! Many thanks John.
21. +1 from me on the Bongo - my weapon of choice. Used to have Ric about 6 years ago. Loved the design and the vib but for me they were uncomfortable to play. This new version does look fab and I would love to have a go on one to see what it's like.
