1.
Money money...
Perhaps you should give us an idea on your budget so we can make some informed suggestions for you.
2. price reduced before it goes back upon ebay.
3. Bass player - 50's, good experience, great gear, reliable transport and easy going looking to join band of similar aged musos. Ideally playing rock covers 70's to now. No metal please, but open to other ideas. Can commit to regular rehearsal, learning the set and of course gigs. Please get in contact to find out more and tell me all about your band. Thanks
4. Feeder could be added to the list - used to do Buck Rogers, which always seemed to go down well. There's always Budgie...
5. My MXR El Grande is one dirty fuzz box and lots of bottom. It also happens to be for sale You can find it in the Effects For Sale thread you can pm me for the details.
6. FX 72 now up on ebay. Looking for trade on the El Grande/
7. Just a swift note to say thanks to Merv. I bought his US Masters Fretless 5 String Bass last night. A very nice chap to do business with. The bass is fabulous, exactly as described and I promise to take good care of her.
8. Used to do this one in my covers band a few years ago - Drop D - nice! We loved playing it so it stayed in the set for quite a while. Went down well in the more "rockier" pubs we used to play. Use it wisely I'd say.
9. Any takers? Had a bit of interest on the FX72 but nothing firm. They'll be going up on Ebay at the weekend, but would rather sell them here Don't be shy now and make me an offer that I can't refuse!
10. If you're planning to run a single 15" as an extension cab then I'm afraid there's not much you can do to change the impendance. If you like the cab then you're best bet is to change the speaker for an 8 Ohm, I guess one benifit of this is that when you come to resell you can offer either. But I'm sure that there must be an 15", 8 Ohm Ashdown cab out there in Basschat-land for sale. To answer your other question I used to run 2x10 and 15" cabs in a Peavy Rig and more recently a Trace Elliot 2x10 combo and 15" Ext Cab and had no issues with muddy sounds. Much would depend on the sound you're trying to achieve. It's a fairly common set up.
11. NOW SOLD VIA EBAY. I have a MXR El Grande Fuzz Pedal. In very good condition. Does have velcro on the back but I have saved the rubber feet so you could peel of the velco and put the feet back on if you wanted too. It will come with the original box and instructions and other literature. This pedal does provide a huge amount of dirt. Too much for me I'm afraid so I'd like to trade it for another distortion/fuzz pedal that is not quite so fierce. Value wise I'd be looking for £50 if someone wanted to buy it rather than trade. What have you got? Please get in touch. Thanks
12. Would you consider a trade with my 2005 Fender Jazz CAR? Up for trade on here? Cheers
13. NOW SOLD VIA EBAY. I have for sale (no trades this time) a 2005 USA built American Series Standard Fender Jazz in Candy Apple Red. Alder Body, Black Scratch Plate and Maple Neck, it also features the S1 switch and now sports a Bad Ass III bridge. I still have the original bridge plus all the case candy and a shaped Fender case as well. It is in great condition and it looks, plays and sounds fab. Why am I looking to move this beauty on? I've just made the switch to 5 strings and this really does need to played and appreciated. I think £650 ovno cash on collection is reasonable. I am prepared to ship it by courier and am happy to arrange this at the buyers expense. This is a short term offer before it goes on Ebay... Here's some pic's of the bass and I can supply high quality images to anyone who's interested. I live in Burgess Hill, West Sussex and you are welcome to visit for a try out before you buy. Please feel free to get touch and ask any questions. Thanks for reading.
14. I'd vote for the Nash 63P. Would love to have a go on one of those.
15. Porcupine Tree just came up on my random track play and it reminded me just how good Colin Edwin is. That's all - back to work!
16.
Just be thankful that he's not a flautist...
17. I would say go for it! I used to have a 700RB II and an RBH410. Couldn't fault the sound in anyway. The cab is very heavy so the NEO loaded cabs might be better if you value your back! I've used Trace Elliot, TC and Mark Bass amps and cabs since and the GK was easily as good IMO.
18.
Yep, and always ready to give the soundcrew a ciggie and buy them a pint, no matter how tiny and crappy the gig is and how much of a bunch of twats the rest of Fairport are being about the sound.... (I speak from bitter experience)
Novel place to keep your plectrum.....
19. Thought I'd add a couple more the mix. Firstly though +1's to: Neil Murray Dennis Dunaway Pete Trewavas Glen Hughes Gezzer Butler They were all my list but already mentioned New ones Eric Czar - A great player. Saw him play live with the first incarnation of Joe Bonamassa's trio. Greatly impressed by his feel and tone. Now does mostly solo stuff. Worth checking him out if you don't know his work. Laurence Cottle - Session work and composer, he also demo's for GB Basses Saw him play a duet with Jeff Berlin a few years ago and I thought he played better stuff than Jeff did.
20. I saw them back in the late 70's at the Rainbow in London - this was the Martin Turner, Andy Powell, Laurie Wisefield and Steve Upton line up - I think. Yes very loud but very good.
21. My first bass rig, when I started playing again in 2000, was a MkIV Series 400 through Peavey 2x10 and 1x15 cabs. The amp was quite heavy and built like a tank. Got many comments about how good it sounded. It finally died when the power supply quit on me during a rehearsal but it must have 20 years old at that point, so pretty good going all in all. Definitely loud enough and had plently of tone shaping options. I bought a GK rig (700RB II with a RBH410 cab) after that and I have to say it blew the Peavey away in terms of power, tone and managing the low end generally - fab
22. I think my Jazz and Ashdown Klystron 500 and matching 4x10 sound fab together. A great match I think.
23. Several of my guitarist buddies use PRS guitars and I've always been impressed by the build quality, sound and finish of thier guitars. From the pics it looks like these basses will have the same attention to detail. There seems to be a many different finish and hardware options, some of which would look fab I'm sure. Would love to have a go on one....one day...hopefully.
