1. I think my Jazz and Ashdown Klystron 500 and matching 4x10 sound fab together. A great match I think.
2. Several of my guitarist buddies use PRS guitars and I've always been impressed by the build quality, sound and finish of thier guitars. From the pics it looks like these basses will have the same attention to detail. There seems to be a many different finish and hardware options, some of which would look fab I'm sure. Would love to have a go on one....one day...hopefully.
3. The new bass from 2013 PRS - Gary Grainger 4 and 5 http://www.prsguitars.com/garygrainger4/ Looks like it's a production bass and not a special/private stock item. Can't seem to find a price for it as yet...but I would expect it be many £Ks. But I have to say I'm feeling more than a little GAS-ey for it... DV 247 has a bit about it here: http://www.dv247.com/news/PRS%20Introduces%20New%20Grainger%20Bass%20Guitars/133373 Does anyone else know any more about it?
4.
I use Line6 lowdown Studio 110. It´s bit more powerful (75w) but it is quite decent amp for bedroom and also for small practice room with quiet band. I got it used and it was cheaper than new Ampeg BA108. I am not very big fan of 8´ speakers, It just sounds too thin to me even for quiet practicing, but it is just my taste. if you need to practice while your son sleeping, I would also ho with some kind of pandora or Vox amplug and headhones (or Apple device with pocketGK app).
+1 from me on the Line6 110. It has some very usable sounds, got headphones-out and a line-in if you want to play along plus a very usable line-out for recording. Nuff Sed
5. Same here - no point looking anywhere else IMO
6.
And welcome from another Burgess Hillian - although "Urban" is probably a bit strong for our little town I work in Fontwell so should pop over one lunchtime to see your place. Cheers, Mike
I do a great frothy coffee - just bring the biscuits
7. You could also try Sound Central in Bolney, just down the road from you. They have a nice live room. http://www.soundcentralstudios.co.uk/ I know the owner Aidey - top fellow. Just tell him that John Wilson sent you along, he'll look after you.
8. Indeed welcome, from a fellow West Sussex-er - Burgess Hill. Plenty to see and do here.
9.
Can't seem to find anywhere that sells a gig bag to hold two basses!! The mono dual case is out of my price range so looking for cheaper alternatives
Ritter make them. http://www.ritter-bags.com/index.php?id_range=&id_type=8&id_model=76 Used to use one myself a few years ago. Great quality.
10.
Andy's Sweet' singer is Pete Lincoln, he's not a yank, Geordie I think but he doesn't sound like it; before him it was Tony O'Hora who is now on keys & 2nd guitar & before him it was Mal McNulty who is now on vox with Slade. They should get revolving doors in them nostalgia bands these days! I've been going to Sweet gigs for about 8 years + & this is the best line-up I've heard. Steve Priest, the original bassist has his own Sweet in the USA but it seems to be more of a heavy rock band doing Sweet covers with some bloke on bass wearing a cape - I don't rate them.
The bloke in the cape is Steve Priest....he's put a few pounds on since 1977... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-dm3XkvJ-M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsT6AhdOoEw nice bass though.
11.
Night off. I'll be 'Hitchhiking' with my towel and a very interesting book...
12.
I could be mistaken, but isn't 'Oliver's Army' played on a fretless? It certainly sounds like it on the bridge. As for being 'lost in the mix', I've never had that problem. Is there any particular reason that not having frets would mean you'd be 'lost in the mix'? Dan
Funnily enough I'm working on this very song.... Personnally I don't think it is a fretless - IMHO it sounds like a fretted Precision played with a fair amount of attitude! Which is how I intend to play it but with a Jazz
13. The S1 switch that was fitted to Jazzes a while back gives the Jazz a "P" sound - mine does and although it's not quite a full on P it's pretty close IMO. Better than butchering a perfectly goodJazz Bass I reckon.
14. Oh yes he is Da-Man. Seen Yes live many times and CS delivered the goods every time. And he is the reason I play the bass. nuff sed
15. I was just going to say that it's with Andy He's had it for some time, it's a commission sale I believe.
16. Sadley there seems to be no love for ESP Ltd basses. My B-1004 has been up for sale for a while and no nibbles at all So it's now on ebay. Good luck with yours though - have a bump!
17. Aah yes. But I'm sure/hope that someone who likes a thin neck will come along soon....
18. Still not doin' it for ya folks? Last bump before t' Bay.
19. Thanks Kongo, at least there's one fan of these basses out there. Please buy an extra ticket just to be sure Otherwise, it looks like it'll be ebay next weekend.
20. Here's my recently acquired 2005 CAR Jazz. I think it's fab - probably the nicest bass I've ever owned
21.
Hi Guys, I am as fresh to the bass scene as it gets but I have a few mates who play electric guitar but not bass. I want to play mainly hard rock/metal but I will possibly use in my church music group too. These are the models I am considering, has anyone got any experience of these models (good or bad) and which would be the best option? 1) Epiphone Toby Deluxe IV (probably my favourite in terms of how it looks) 2) ESP Ltd B-10 3) Ibanez GSR200
My ESP LTD B-1004 is up for sale and might suit you Mail me if you'd like to know more.
22. Looks like this'll be up on evilBay at the weekend...any takers before then would be most welcome...
23. Any takers? Would make a great back up bass or an inexpensive (but quality) gigging bass. Don't forget it comes with a hard case and I'll ship it for around £30. Bargain!
24. Personally, I liked the girl on the piano..........
25.
Aaaaaaaaaw yeah! That's a cracking LTD all right. Proper high quality model, no cheapy here (not that LTD ever feel cheap). I wish you luck with the sale, much as I love ESP / LTD I prefer the Forest series myself. Nonetheless, great bass. Seriously, if this sits on here with little interest I'll wonder what's going on around this place.
Thanks Kongo She's a very pretty bass in the flesh and well put together too. Here's hoping. Sensible offers considered.
