Thanks, it is a lovely instrument.
I've got to give you a bump, as a fellow Alembic player, these are one of the worlds most finely made instruments. Good luck with the sale Jake Ps if it was fretless and I had money, I'd be knocking on your door... sadly, neither is true.
Hard decision this but due to the music I'm currently playing, I'm not playing this beauty very much these days. It is therefore time to move this lovely instrument on to someone who'll give it the attention it deserves. Please note that I am selling this bass, so no requests for exchanges please. Made in 2006 and bought new this is a wonderful bass, a lovely player and great range of sounds. Here's the spec

34" Scale Maple and Walnut laminated set neck with an Ebony board
Mahogany body with a Birds Eye Maple cap - the photos do not do it justice.
Will be supplied with a hard case.
There is a small ding on bottom of the body of the bass, see photo, but it is small and the only mark on it. I would prefer collection to avoid any possibility of damage whilst in transit. However I will ship the bass within the UK only, if you really want me to. Don't think I need to go on and on about this bass - you all know how Alembic build world class basses and now it's your chance to own one! There you are a great bass, please get in touch with a reasonable/sensible offer and I'll get back to you. EDIT - Realised that the asking price was too low. Paid £1800 for this beaut, so the new price is more reasonable. Sorry if it's put a few of you off, but don't want to give this one away. EDIT 2 - Had a question about string spacing, so here it is (as near as I can tell) for everyone else. 17mm at the Bridge 10mm at the nut Just shout if you want to know anything else about this great bass. Enjoy the pics! Strangely enough I tried some Roto Sounds a few years ago and really didn't like them....Put some Ernie Balls on my 'ray last week and I'm loving it will let you know how they last.
I can't remember who's really old P I was fortunate enough to have a quick noodle on at the SEBB last year [and my sincere apologies for that] but it was great and I'd have that over the VMP I briefly had any day, ditto the CIJ 50th anniversary P me mate has. The others were good, but there was something about the old one that was just, I don't know, much much better. I felt bloody scared holding it though. I'll have a pair of 1970 Fenders one day, it's me birth year see. Tomorrow mebbe, when the lotto comes in. EDIT: It was Sixshooters, so that makes it a '59. Carry on.
I've been fortunate enough to have owned two '61 P basses. One was way better than the other in terms of playability and sound, I sold the worse of two and now have my white '61 which is great, both sound and playability. And it's the year of my birth. I've also had a mid 80's US MIA Jazz Bass that was, frankly, pants. Poorly built, didn't play very well at all. Got rid of that as soon as could. I've always preferred a good quality pre-owned instrument. Not because of the "mojo" factor - real or not. But put simply I think you get more bass for your money!
Hi, I'm currently GASing for a Warwick thumb bolt on and looking to demo one. I phoned GAK today but they said they didn't have any in stock, but I'm just a bit conufsed as to whether that applies to both the mail order and shop, or just the mail order. Does anyone have any ideas...or has anyone been into the GAK store lately who might have seen a Thumb BO there (or anywhere else in the south) ? Thanks!
GAK do that quite alot. They put great prices up on their web site but when you enquire they don't have it in stock. Having said that they usually can get stuff quite quickly. The Brighton shop is a separate entity to their online shop. They will check the "shop" stock if you ask them to however. I was there (at their shop) a few months ago and I do recall that they have a large selection of Warwicks, so they might have a Thumb BO. Worth a phone call to see if they have. Not much help I guess....
Well I knew it would happen (and fortunately for me so did my wife so she is somewhat prepared...) I have come back to the bass after a number (more than I am willing to admit) of years away just playing acoustic guitar. What attracted me was the idea of a EUB, and I now have a Stagg which I am having fun with. However, that is not going to be enough and I [s]want[/s] need to get a BG. I was originally going to write this last night and ask for suggestions about what I should get within the parameters I had thought of, but following a chat with my other half and doing some searching on the web I have a bit more of an idea of the sound I am looking for. So, last night started with her asking me what would be my ideal bass. I immediately replied "fretless Wal". Now, before I go any further I know that presently that isn't possible, but she did ask me why that one. Took me a while to think about this, as my musical tastes are very eclectic and I always seem to be listening to something new. Eventually I narrowed the reason down to one person - Mick Karn. Tin Drum by Japan just blew me away the first time I heard it, and I subsequently had a couple of his solo albums. As years have passed my circumstances have changed and I no longer had those albums (and hadn't since the end of the 80s). I googled Mick Karn and found what he is doing now - and he still has pretty much the same sound. Some of the tracks I heard blew me away all over again (so have ordered a couple of his later albums). Anyway, I have a bag full of photography gear that isn't getting used, so have decided to ebay it and spend the proceeds on a bass and amp. So my question is this. Given that my ideal sound is that fretless Wal sound, what should I be looking at in terms of bass and amp? The amp doesn't have to be too powerful as I am not planning on playing anywhere except home and with friends in the near future, and the bass needs to be fretless and either 4 or 5 string. My budget will be around £1.5k and it doesn't have to be new. All suggestions welcomed.
I would suggest that you look at a second hand Overwater Progress. I had a four string fretless Progress III for a while and it was fabulous, beautifully made and you can get all the great fretless "mmwhaa" sounds out of it too. They are over £2K new but I reckon you could find a good used one for about £1K. Good luck In fact there is one on the for sale board right now! Just becuase the shop I got it from (Bonners, Eastbourne) had the same set up and I liked the sound they made. Simple really
Excellent, any reason for the different cabs?
Here's my new TC Electronics Rebel 450 and 2x10 and 2x12 cabs First time out on Saturday and very pleased with it I was too. Oodles of power and great tone. The cabs are surprisingly light for their power and the amp is very light as well. Took the '61 P Bass and the Alembic out for run too. Lovely stuff. Enjoy!

Hey guys Got this great sounding rig about a year ago. It's only done 4 gigs and a few rehearsals and is in showroom condition. Included with the Amp and Cab will be the Covers, Footswitch and Cable, Speaker Cable and Instruction Manual. Only reason I'm selling is that at my age I now want something lighter and have just bought the TC Electronics Rebel 450 and 210 and 212 cabs to go with it and sadly I don't have room for both rigs 21/2 Edit. Here's the photos as promised. Hopefully you can see that the rig is in immaculate condition, please let me know if you'd like to see anything else. Here's the link to the TE web site for all the other details. 1210 Combo http://www.trace-elliot.co.uk/product.php?...l=5&key=222 1518c Cab http://www.trace-elliot.co.uk/product.php?...l=5&key=223 As this is a quite heavy and large piece of kit it will be collection only from Heathfield, East Sussex or I might be able to deliver within a 30 mile radius of Heathfield in exchange for some petrol money. You are also welcome to come and have a go and to ask any questions. Price £750....OK then make me an offer I can't refuse. Might consider a trade for a quality 5 stringer - MIGHT consider. Thanks for reading.
GK 1001RBII + 410RBX + 115RBX? Or is it better to get a 410RBH now and wait...a loooooooong time to get a 115RBH?
I used to play through a GK700RBII and 4 ohm 410RRX You can lay-waste to vast tracts of civilization with that combo, never felt I needed a 15". You get masses of low end rumble from the 410, even with a 5 string. So unless you feel that you need to make more a visual impact than a sonic one I reckon the the 410 is all you'd ever need... Hope that helps!
£11.99 for a 24 hour service with Parcel Force, maybe add another 50% for the insurance but check the T&Cs - http://www.senditnow.co.uk/ Best of luck with the sale. I'm keeping a close eye on this as I might be selling mine in the not too distant future.
A lot depends on the weight and size, this is quite a heavy item and the box is fairly large. Rest assured that if it's less than I estimate I will say so. Not looking to make money out of the postage!

Since changing my set up I find that I don't need all the features and facilities that my Bass Pod offers, so here it is for sale. Not quite 3 years old, it has been used on; gigs, rehearsal and recording and has always delivered the goods. Despite being gigged it is in very good condition, as the photos show. It is complete with it's own gig bag, instruction manual, USB lead, power supply and original box/packaging. I paid £360 for this baby and am looking for £180 ono. Would prefer collection but will post at the buyers expense - I have now got a quote from DHL for a 48 hr service. With Insurance it will be £24.99 (incl VAT) without £13.50 (incl VAT). Feel free to ask any questions, I live in Heathfield East Sussex, you are welcome to come for a test flight before you buy. Thanks for looking!

Having owned an Status Series II (5 string) and an 'Ray5 and currently have a 'Ray4. I would say that the Status had much more punch than the 'Rays and you can get more tonal variation with the Status by virtue of great EQ and the mid switch, great for slap! Loved the necks on both. Status basses are usually more expensive both new and s/hand. I guess when it comes down to it I wish I hadn't sold the Status and don't miss the SR5 quite so much. Does that help?...no, I thought not

[quote name='TommyK' date='Jan 21 2009, 02:10 PM' post='387537' I have just started playing bass again after about 5 years. Been reading this for a few months now, so thought i'd better join in proper. Decided to play again after moving all my stuff from one place in the house to another had gotten too much. Finally thought i'd better either sell it or find a band. Found a band, cant believe i forgot how much fun it is!!
Good man, you know it makes sense! Welcome

Done my bit.... if I couldn't play live don't know what I'd do...
