  1. It's said that 1 in 500 people actively play bass. Let's say; 5 billion people can afford a bass and learn bass. Divide that by 500 and you have 10 million bassists for your musical endeavour. Maybe invest in a small country for your rehearsal space.
  2. They sold me a six string bass with a terrible neck. The truss was not making a difference at all to the unplayable action. They said they'll have a look at it for me and just 'gave it a setup' which actually meant rise the action and polish a couple of frets.
  3. Any chance I can bagsie a place for 2021? I'll be aloud out then 😂
  4. I'd love to come but school always gets in the way
  5. Novation launch keys are brilliant. I managed to get a used launch key 49 mk1 for 50 used.

  21. I’ve just been offered a mid 2012 MacBook Pro retina. 2.6Ghz i7 16gb RAM and 512 GB ssd. He’s made me and offer of 600 for it. Thoughts?
  22. I’ve made the mistake of wanting some sort of apple computer. Oops. I’m really indecisive and cannot choose what would suit me best. I come seeking help to the wisdom of basschat. My budget is around a grand but I would like to set 300 aside for software (probably ableton). So far I’ve seen; plenty of referb 2011-12 MacBook pros some Mac mini’s of a high spec. And a few iMacs of a good spec I don’t know if I should get something windows though, as the 2011-2012 Macs will not be updated by apple in the next 2 years. Looking forward to hearing your opinions cheers
  23. I recently got my hands on a set of NYXL's from the wonderful Adam Ironside at @D'Addario UK. I've used Elixir coated strings on all of my basses for just over a year. I tried to switch to brighter strings such as Rotosounds and even other coated strings like DR black beauty's but my soft little finger tips couldn't cope with the abrasion (My attack doesn't help). When i put the string onto my Psyclops bass, i felt a much softer surface from the nickel layer around the steel string. The tension was a bit high but i am used to slightly lighter strings and i haven't set the bass up since before summer. The more chrome-ish look was a nice switch from the more dull appearance of nano-coat elixirs and the bright tone was incomparable to what I've known on coated strings When installing these strings i noticed very little de-tuning. There was still the slow shifting of the neck that flattens it over time but the string was beautiful with the near stretch-less tensioning. Pared with the Fender Hi-mass bridge i have on that bass, the sustain is brilliant. The main downside i see with these is the price. They are pretty much the same as an Elixir set but don't last as well. If you're anything above an occasional player and want a wide range of capability from a string, i would recommend that you try these out. Cheers to Adam for the set and i hope that this thread will give you some insight into my opinion on the strings.
