Saw him twice in the 80s and his shows were spectacular! After seeing the 'LoveSexy' tour in 1988, he was so brilliant on every level - musician /writer/performer/producer/choreographer etc - it actually made me want to give up because I thought he'd set the bar so high there was no point even trying to get close. Purple Rain is still one of my all-time favourite records... and the Sign 'o The Times concert DVD one of my favourite concerts to watch. RIP Prince Rogers Nelson

More info can be found here: [url="http://www.originalscratchplates.com/"]http://www.originalscratchplates.com/[/url] [u][b]Set-Ups etc:[/b][/u] [b]Ian Robinson[/b], who is my local luthier here on the south coast and who also plays a mean Mandolin, is joining us at the Bash for the first time, so if you'd like your bass (or guitar) set up on the day, Ian's your man! There may well be one or two other surprise guests to announce as we get nearer to the date, so 'watch this space'! [u][b]Other important info:[/b][/u] [b]Format:[/b] We may make a few changes to this after last year, but it will be something along these lines.... 1 x general area to set up your gear, plus 1 x quiet room/workshop area with workshops through the day, plus Jamming room, plus cafeteria, plus Raffle [b]Spaces:[/b] again, we may make a few changes to this, but something along these lines: The Quiet Room and the Theatre for Workshops The Jamming Room for jamming with drummers (and other strange non-bass playing people) Main Hall (where you can set up your gear and make some low frequency vibrations) [b]Cost:[/b] [b]£10[/b] Last year, it cost about £185 for the hire of the venue plus an amount for some public liability insurance cover therefore to cover those basic costs, we need to charge £10 per head entrance fee to one and all! [b]Charities:[/b] We will donate all profits from the day to a worthy cause or two (details to be confirmed): [b]Refreshments[/b] will be available on the day for a small charge of course which will help increase the profits and keep everyone happy! Last year, as ever, Hamster & Mrs Hamster did all the work on that and have offered to do so again, so many thanks in advance to them! [b]Workshops[/b] See above for already confirmed workshops but because the talks and workshops really do add so much to the day, we are always interested to hear of any ideas/requests from the Forum, so please let us know.. [b]How you can Help/Get Involved[/b] What would be really helpful from everyone who's interested in participating on the day is: 1. Donations of raffle prizes 2. Ideas/requests for the workshops 3. Volunteers to help out on the day (if needs be) [u][b]Attendees:[/b][/u] It's always good to know who's coming and what gear they'll be bringing so to get the ball rolling here's a list of the people we know who are coming: 01. [b]Bass Guitar magazine[/b] have again provided raffle prizes including a copy of the LBGS edition signed by [b]Robert Trujillo[/b]. [b]Mark King[/b] has graciously signed a collectible 1902 bottle of King's Ale for us(see pics above). Obviously any other prizes will be gratefully accepted. [*][b]Bassface 2k10[/b] will again be manning the canteen with a range of hot/cold drinks and savouries. [*]I'm hoping that luthier [b]Martin Herrick[/b] will be along with some of his custom pick ups - he's happy to discuss custom pick ups and retro fits for the most popular basses. [*]We'd like to have a [b]marketplace[/b] where attendees can buy/trade gear so if you have anything you'd like to sell/trade bring it along. [*]Hopefully [b]Bluejay and Jack[/b] will again be providing cameras to record events for the blog and YT. Hi Folks, I just had the pleasure of meeting Matt, aka moooper, and his family, who travelled over to Littlehampton this evening to collect the Roscoe Beck 5 string bass I've just sold him. Apart from being a great player and very knowledgeable about gear, Matt's a really nice guy to deal with. What's more, his very articulate and energetic son entertained our 13 year old dog throughout the whole time they were here, which was lovely to see and a real bonus, as we probably won't have to give her a walk now this evening. Anyway, really nice people and that always makes buying and selling gear here on Basschat so much nicer than anywhere else! So, deal with Matt in complete confidence Folks!
