1. Met up with Russ today in order to relieve him of the burden of owning such a beautiful teal green Yamaha TRB5 Mk1, which is now safely in my possession.. Given our relative locations - me on the south coast and Russ somewhere up Northampton way I believe - this very clandestine meeting only happened because Russ managed to 'arrange' a much-needed works site visit in Crawley, which is within an hour of me.. Without that effort and creative thinking on his part, we couldn't really have worked something out on the bass, so I'm really grateful. So needless to say, I am more than happy to recommend Russ to one and all here on Basschat .. deal with in absolute confidence Folks! As I've said many times before, dealing with like-people like Russ is one of the absolute joys of this Forum and long may it continue.. So thanks for doing that Russ and for selling me such a fabulous bass! Nik
2. Hi Folks Apologies for not having posted anything on here about ideas for the day etc, but I'm about to start a new job so have been more than a little snowed under! Anyway, having looked at the suggestions that were put forward, so far we have the following workshops planned: 1. The Double Bass - a workshop led by bassace 2. Cabs shoot-out - led by Lozz and Mick on this one; taking the valve vs solid state amp test we did last year and the great stuff they've done at recent Herts Bashes and doing something similar with cabs this year at the SE Bash 3. Set ups etc - Robert van der Linde from Cadilac Guitars has kindly offered his services We're still working on a couple of other things and also, finalising times for the things already mentioned above, so please bear with us.. More to follow soon... Nik
3.
CRAZY £500 PAYPAY PRICE-DROP BUMP!
+1 That's an amazing price for such a versatile bass!
4.
Recent trade (instrument) deal with Nicolas, Excellent throughout, and without issues (France/UK). Great communication, prompt replies and actions. Can recommend highly to BC members.
+1 I have just had the pleasure of dealing with Nico, having bought a fabulous Roscoe Beck 5 string from him.. Excellent communication throughout and when buying from someone in another country, that is a quality not to get underestimated ! Nor is the fact the the bass is as described and sounds brilliant - as he said it would. And, it arrived really well packaged up for the journey from Paris to West Sussex; again, a really important factor when buying a bass that has to be shipped. Summing up, I'm happy to highly recommend Nico to one and all here on Basschat! Thanks Nico Nik
5. Thanks for the positive comments guys! As they say, the feeling is mutual.. And Basschat is as ever, still the best place to deal/trade/ buy gear! Cheers Nik
6. Cheers for that info, Stuart.. You're absolutely right! By spending a £100 or so on a second-hand J-Retro or something similar, you could have a superb 5 string 'super jazz' on your hands for less than £500!
7. BUMP for a great value, quality 5 string Jazz!
8. Very nice indeed!
9. Hi Folks *** SOLD *** With a new bass incoming, I've decided to put my Levinson Blade B15 Jazz bass up for sale at £300 + shipping in order to help balance the books.. I bought this from BassBunny a couple of years ago to replace the Roscoe Beck 5 string I was selling at the time, and over the two years I've had it, I've used it a lot at gigs and rehearsals and it's been great! Very comfortable for long gigs/rehearsals, a very nice action and a lovely warm sound. As you can see in the photos, it's in pretty good condition, though it's by no means perfect, though that's never worried me because it plays so nicely and sounds like a 5 string jazz should; i.e. phat & funky! The neck is straight, truss rod works and the frets have plenty of life left in them. No problems with the electronics either.. Not sure what the pick ups are, but they are Alnico single-coils and have a good vintage sound to them with plenty of output too.. On that note, this is a passive bass, but at one time it would have had the stock Levinson pre-amp in it.. However, even without that, it still has a nice vintage growl to it and a very even tone across all the strings.. In fact, I have to say that for a 34" scale 5 string, the B string is very, very good on this bass! Not sure how old this one is,but here's a link to the website which has details of the current B15 models: http://www.bladeguit.../b1-series/b15/ And as you can see from this GAK link, these basses used to retail at about £700 new: http://www.gak.co.uk...a-standard/3871 And here's a YouTube clip on one being played: https://youtu.be/4lpGe5PLSjQ I'm happy to very carefully package this up and ship it, though obviously I prefer it when people come and check out a bass in person, as it's always such a persona thing... So if you're interested and nearby, feel free to get in touch and arrange to come and have a play and a cuppa.. The bass will come supplied in a gig bag and will have an extra set of Carvin strings with it though they won't be fitted.. Any questions, please PM me or ask away here. Thanks for looking, Nik

13. I just purchased Dean's Thunderfunk 550B head and it was a really smooth transaction. Great communication throughout and the amp arrived safe and sound exactly when Dean said it would. Got to say that it was a pleasure dealing with Dean and I would certainly do so again - he's another great credit to the Basschat community, so deal in confidence folks! Fabulous sounding amp by the way Thanks Dean!
