1.
Hope you're feeling better soon, Jack
+1 Good to hear that Paul, MacDaddy and seashell will be there though Si; OK..will bring the MC6 with me..
2. Sorry to hear that Pete! I have also just heard that Happy Jack can't be with us either, so no drummer for the Jam Room so, we're going to need drum machines or similar maybe to keep a groove going in there... I've definitely got some questions for the FX workshop!
3. Si, do you want me to bring along my DBX MC6 tomorrow for your talk?
4. Beautiful looking '70s Jazz... Kind of how they should look really. GLWTS!
5. Just a quick reminder not to forget your Raffle donations folks! ... ..say that and I'll probably forget mine now.
6. Not long now folks; looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
7. Date: Saturday 29 September 2012 Time: 10am - 5pm Venue: Jubilee High School, Surrey, School Lane, Addlestone, Surrey KT15 1TE Venue link: Jubilee High School Website: http://www.jubileehigh.surrey.sch.uk/ MAP LINK: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=504208&y=164434&z=0&sv=KT15+1TE&st=2&pc=KT15+1TE&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf
8. It won't be the same without Nige, Clarky, Johnny Lager and some of the other regulars from the last few years..... But it'll still be a great day hopefully!
9. Hi Folks, A quick update: 1. Confirmed times for Workshops are: 12.00: FX's workshop - Sibob 13.00: Recording/Studio related stuff and Compressors - 51m0n 14.00: Ableton; composing, jamming and performing - Urb For those of us interested in the 'A/B ing amps, cabs & basses etc', I suggest we discuss it when the relevant interested folks have arrived.. Might be good to have Mr Claber in on that?? And also, we might need to hold it in the large hall as opposed to the Theatre, which is where the Workshops will most probably be taking place... 2. Raffle Colin - how does 15.30-16.00 sound to you for the Raffle?? 3. A question about a 'For Sale' section: previously, we've had that in the 'Quiet Room/Foyer' area - is everyone cool with that arrangement again? So...in summary we should have the following taking place...: Quiet Room (with For Sale section) Theatre (with 3 x Workshops taking place) Large Hall for other stuff, such as A/B-ing amps etc, etc Jam Room (with the amazing Paul on drums) Refreshments courtesy of Mr & Mrs Hamster in the Foyer and a Raffle Look forward to seeing you all there on the day! Nik
10.
Have you considered buying her a humbucking hairdryer?
11. Gold hardware for a Fender jazz, for that very 'bling' look! (bridge cover and pick up cover)
12. Thanks very much for the kind offer, but as i haven't been to Tewkesbury for at least 20 years and am unlikely to do so in the near future, hopefully you'll have sold it before I next get there! Good luck with the sale and have a BUMP on me!
13. Looks like the compression talk you did a couple of years ago Si, should make a much needed re-appearance this year...??
14. Good idea; OK - what comparisons are people interested in looking at the gear that's going to be there?
15.
Apparently we can have up to 13 amps before the fuses blow ...
Si; that's a good point - it'll need some thought to get the best out of it I think..??
16. BUMP for a great cab at a very good price.. Would dearly love to add this to my rig for a day just so I could hear it alongside my SWR Triad.... Perhaps in another life when I've more money and more space in the car!
17.
Was that the Brighton Bass day thing? Was a great day that, and Herb really ought to be the Patron Saint of Bass
Yep! The one Dave Barnard used to run...
18. ...I'm getting worried about Plux's lack of commitment - to being a boring old fart of a bass player that is.. Well, 9 amps seems a little excessive, but it's going to be very entertaining.. Perhaps chimike needs to wade in here as he had at least that number of amps (or was it full-blown rigs) at the SE mini-bash in Littlehampton last November!
19. Hear one of his talks a few years ago at the Portland Pub in Brighton & Hove and he was fabulously entertaining.. Told me off for chewing gum when I walked in the room IIRC! By the end of his talk he had everyone singing and playing along to 'Walk on the Wild Side'.. He started off as a tuba player in the army he said and has just gone on from there. Sort of bloke that should be Basschat's Patron or something..
20. Thanks Si, Not sure about Jake and the Dubstep talk yet, but if you could do something on FX (perhaps with Shep if he makes it), it would be great! Nik
21. Very lovely looking bass with an interesting and unusual circuitry. I had a chat with Paul Herman when he took over the Wal brand 3 years ago and I asked him about adding a single-coil feature as an option when buying, but he wasn't really sure about it. I've always thought it would make a great addition to a brilliant circuit.. So seeing this one is quite a surprise! Rarer than a rare thing with hen's teeth! Good luck with the sale.
22. The Amber Trust seems like a good cause to me and being music-related is always a good thing.. So how about that and the DPAC (Disabled people against cuts?
23.
I was hoping you'd think so. Here's a story from the Independent that does a pretty good job of covering the issue(s). This guardian article is somewhat shorter, but focuses well on the benefits decisions that have outraged disabled people. The best organisation that I can find for a donation is DPAC (Disabled people against cuts): http://www.dpac.uk.net/ I started to write a rant against ATOS and DWP here but thought better of it. Just read the Independent article, please. All I'll say is I've witnessed first hand the distress this whole situation causes. Andy
Had a look at this and it looks worthwhile.. Are there any other good causes people want to suggest we donate to?
24. Workshop update: Confirmed workshops are: 1. Recording/Studio related stuff - 51m0n 2. A/B ing amps, cabs & basses - not sure who's running this yet, might be a number of people?? 3. Ableton; composing, jamming and performing - Urb And we're still waiting to hear on these workshops: Dubstep masterclass - Jake Newman Vocal Workshop - Mcgraham Bass Synth workshop - Mcgraham
