1.
Hi Nik, looking for a new job at the moment...one lead is in Nottingham of all places...hope all's well with you.
Sorry to hear that Steve but hope you're ok otherwise...Mind you, on the plus side, you could make it to the next Bash! I'm okay thanks...just got divorced though so had less time (and money) for all things bass and for Basschat.. But looking at what's happened in Japan, you have to have a sense of perespective about life really don't you?
Tried one of these at The Bass Centre years ago, it was fantastic! You're never going to have more control over your tone than one of these babies will give you. The Bandwidth pots just gives you so much control. I remember being knocked out at how I could completely change the sound of the bass I tried it with, over and over again, but it always sounded great! Good luck!
Thanks for that! Yes - it really is a fine piece of kit and IMO, especially for this sort of money.. I paid more for an Aguillar Tone Hammer than this is going for and yet this does so much more for your actual tone!
  2. Thanks for that Steve; how's NZ treating you? No power amp in the house unfortunately, Chris...
  3. Thanks for that Mark - i really do like it, but theere's only so much gear an old git like me can have really... Hope all's well with you! Nik
  4.
Comes with practice mate! Hope all's well, don't seem to see you much round these parts anymore? Chris
I'm okay thanks Chris - hope you are too.. Short answer is unfortunately, a long answer! Will PM you.... Nik
  5. Hi Folks **SOLD** This is a bit of a reluctant sale because this is such a great sounding piece of kit, but with a Hughes & Kettner pre-amp in my rig now and a Hughes & Kettner amp coming my way, I need to make some sensible bass-related decisions for once!! The short story is that I bought this on Basschat last August from stevie. with a view towards linking it with a power amp and my SWR Triad.. But for various reasons, that hasn't happened. However, I have used it for a few gigs in front of the valve channel on my Eden Metro and it's fabulous; particularly with a passive bass like my Roscoe Beck. It gives you real control in terms of matching input volumes & also, really fine control when e.q.-ing, which is why it's probably seen more often in a studio set-up (like it is on this page here). The eq on the Eden is pretty comprehensive but I actually think this is better and more transparent. There's a link to stevie's original For Sale thread HERE It cost me £90 including shipping plus I had it looked over by my amp chappie when I got it, so I'd like to get that back if possible, hence a price of £110 ono + p&p Here's some pics: And some stuff about it on that there inter-web: The Gear Page Global Bass: Ed Friedland Soundclip Harmony Central discussion The nearest thing I can find in terms of similar products on Ebay is this HERE Any questions, please PM me and just to say that I'm happy to post anywhere though I'd recommend insured and recorded mail..and if you're local and want to try it, then you're very welcome to come and do that and have a cuppa! And because I need to balance the 'GAS ledger', I'm not looking for any trades at the moment. Thanks for looking.. Nik
  6. That is a seriously gorgeous looking bass... albeit in a strange non-Fendery kind of way! Good luck with the sale
  7. Hi Folks Withdrawn as a) I'd forgotten about this thread and the pedal's too good to sell (finally spent some time with it..) So.... I bought this Reussenzehn Daniel D valve pedal from voxpop in February. Before buying it, Mark (voxpop) really sold it to me and I have to say, everything he said in his For Sale thread HERE and when I spoke to him about it directly, is spot on; this really is a fantastic unit that produces a really warm, valvey tone that makes a huge difference to the overall presence of your sound when playing live!! And as a bonus, it provides a real gain boost which is particularly useful if you use passive basses like I do.. The reason I'm selling is that not long after this arrived, I also bought a Hughes & Kettner Crunch Master pre-amp from owen, sold the Eden Metro combo I had and replaced it with a Hughes and Kettner Bassbase 600 head.. So now I've got more valves than I need and something really does have to go. After a bit of A / B-ing between the two pre-amps, I've decided to keep the Crunch Master because it also works as a 10-watt valve amp in it's own right which is useful for home practicing, but it really was a close run decision, as the Reussenzehn Daniel D valve pedal does sound equally as good. It's in pretty good condition, works perfectly and comes with the PSU, which is adapted for UK useage. As Mark said, it's a rare beast, but there is some info about it on the net here if you want to know more: Reussenzehn website (Look on the 'Musiker' page under bass preamps) Harmony Central Disco Fred's Effects database Here's some photos, but please PM me if you'd like any more: Mark's thread also had a picture of the inside of the unit, which he'd upgraded quite considerably and though the picture isn't there now, i've seen the work he'd done and it's very tidy.. According to the website, these retail at 189 Euros new but I'm looking to for £80 plus P&P in the UK, which is a bit less than I paid for it . If you're interested and want to know more, please PM me. Thanks for looking Nik
  8. Had a couple of PMs so far, asking about postage amongst other things.. It'd be £8.96 to send it by recorded delivery, which is what i'd recommend as then you can track it..
  9. Hi Folks ON HOLD PENDING THE USUAL... An amp that I've wanted for a long time has finally come my way so I'm having to sell some things in order to fund it..So, without further ado, I'm looking to sell this Line 6 FM4 filter modeler for £90 + p&p. New price seems to be somewhere around £170-£180, so this is a fair price I think... I bought it here on Basschat in January (for £100) and it's in very good condition and works perfectly.. It comes with the box, manual and importantly, the original PSU. Here's some photos: It's a great unit, with some really exciting sounds possible and is surprisingly good for bass.. For anyone into that Bootsy Collins, P-Funk vibe, this is a great box of tricks.. However, it also has some interesting synth sounds that can really add something to your sound; I used it like that at a few gigs where our keyboard player was away and it helped fill the sound out a lot. But with GAS calling, I'll have to resort to my trusty old Boss FT-2 and Zoom B1 for a while.. Anyway, see here for more info: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFwI7AniQrI http://line6.com/fm4/ http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/1222...CFYEc4QodcHqHAQ And Harmony Central reviews here: http://www01.harmony-central.com/products/3713 Here's some of Line 6's blurb about it: FM4 effects modes: • Tron Down • Tron Up • Seeker • Obi-Wah • Voice Box • V-Tron • Throbber • Spin Cycle • Comet Trails • Slow Filter • Octisynth • Synth-O-Matic • Attack Synth • Sytnh String • Growler • Q Filter FM4 Specifications Digital Effects 16 Factory Presets 20 User Programmable Channels 4 Controls Effect Selector, Freq, Q, Speed, Mode, Mix Additional Controls EX-1 Expression Pedal (optional) Mono/ Stereo Stereo in/ Stereo out Chassis Color Purple Dimensions Length: 10-inches/25.4 cm; Width/Depth: 6-inches/15.24 cm; Height: 2.375-inches; Weight: 3.1 lbs I'm happy to answer any questions, post anywhere and for anyone near enough who is interested, happy if you want to come and have a play with it and have a cuppa! Thanks for looking Nik
  10. Don't see too many of these around! Good luck with the sale...
  11.
Awesome. Thank you.
+1 I haven't looked back since Si helped set up my DBX MC6 at the SE Bash in November...I had it for almost 3 years beforehand without ever understanding it, and now, slowly, i'm getting to grips with the principles of it.. Really comprehensive explanation - like Si's workshop at the Bash, and these sorts of threads really make a difference! And not being afraid to experiment too.. We're very lucky on Basschat that people like Si are around to help!
  12.
I'm good. I've gone pure jazz these days - reading chord charts and everything! Of course that means I've started wearing turtle-neck jumpers and corduroy jackets. The sonic blue 5-string Spitfire is a joy!!!
Cool! That sounds fab - any photos ??
  13.
Now come on people somebody buy this. (free bump for a great piece of kit)
+1 And Isaac's a great guy to deal with as well....
  14. Think I've heard and played this one at the 'Walfest in 2006... From memory, it's got a fantastic tone, determined in part by the wenge facings which give it more edge than some of the other facings often used by Wal! But as well as that, it has all the versatility that comes with the Wal electronics.. Good luck with the sale!
  15.
Now THATS how you cut a gear demo
+1 absolutely fantastic.. pre-amp sounds great too...
