Hi Folks, As you know, we'd like to donate any proceeds from the day in honour of Old Git. Having consulted with Ros (Si's widow), she said that Si supported and believed in the work of these two Charities particularly: The Kambia Appeal (kambia.org.uk) - supporting a hospital in Sierra Leone (Si did his thing on their last web site) The Samaritans (samaritans.org) Does anyone have a particular preference as to which should receive a donation or shall we just split the funds between them? What's going on in the (bass) For Sale Forum
silverfoxnik replied to Lfalex v1.1's topic in General Discussion
Good question! ... isn't it just that times are very tough and some people are having to liquidate bass-related assets to raise fund for other things in life which may be more essential right now? -
Just spoken to Phil Mulford, he is hopeful he can make it for a few hours in the morning, hopefully with some of his Overwater basses in tow. Might get him to bring his new rig too, though I can't say what it is just yet
Great news!! Thanks Mert.. And also that Si & Pete can make it too.. And yes, a good point cetera; we did do labels last year but they kept falling off do the the sustained levels of low-frequency vibrations in the building! -
I'm coming to play! will bring my custom Shuker and possibly my Hamer Blitz or Iceni Zoot. Can I ask for/suggest a set up master class? The idea being someone stands at the front and goes through a set up, and we all work on our own basses following the hints and tips. If as many people as possible try to bring their own tools, then lending to the odd person shouldn't be a problem. Will there be the space to do this (an empty classroom?) and is there anyone who wants to lead the class?
Cool! be good to see you there.. I think this 'set up masterclass' idea is great and was mooted last year - any one out there who has the skills and confidence to lead it? -
This might sound like a daft thing to say but would it be of value to anyone other than myself if someone were able to demonstrate how various amp settings - low gain/high gain, different EQ settings etc - affect the sound. Happy to volunteer my TE rig for the purpose. It is something I just never seem to get time to do it at rehearsal as everyone is always noodling as soon as they get set up, so I press the 'pre-shape' and get on with it.
This is a great idea if it can be sorted out; perhaps as a workshop in the quiet room area?
Well I'd certainly be up for an informal chat about anything like bass tones and stuff - thats why I'm going, I'm hoping to learn something I'm pretty sure that by the time I've finished yacking about compressors the last thing anyone will want is me to talk more about, well anything actually! Alex C is comng along, he's a reknowned talker about all things bass tone, and a chap who really knows his beans, maybe he'll fill in on this one?
Alex - what do you think?? Perhaps this could follow on from the compressor talk.... -

Really sorry to hear your news! It would break my heart to have to do the same, so I can only just about imagine how it must feel... That's an amazing looking bass ! and some very nice gear in general - I'm surprised it's still here to be honest (though admittedly, times are tough)... Anyway, best of luck with it all. -
