2. Dave; it'll just be great to see you there with whatever gear you bring! And Chris, likewise, it'll be great to see you too!
3.
Already posted to say I'm in but not on the updated list so I've added myself. Hope that's ok. I note Clarky and bottle not there either though they have said they're coming. Do people need to add themselves after all (copy/paste etc) or does that complicate things?
Yes please; it'll make it easier if people can update it by adding their name and their equipment to the list once they decide if they're coming and what they're bringing...That way, we can try to work out the best mix of equiment, particulary amps & cabs.. List updated now..
4. After a bit of discussion with obbm, I have realised that this is actually the 4th SE Bash, so I have amended the thread title accordingly..Just a little technicality but these things still matter I have also updated the attendees list on the first post, which I think is correct now, thus far? Gotta say a quick thanks to bassace for last year's double bass workshop with jakesbass; shame you can't make it this year Roger, but have a good gig!! Also, some good ideas there about a mini-market and inviting luthiers such as RIM or ACG; doesn anyone know those guys personally and want to send them an invitation? Chris; you have to bring the 1516 because i've always wanted to hear one in action
5.
Good guy to deal with good communications, painless deal. Recommend him for any trade.........
+1 Just sold an Aphex Bass Xciter to Ben; really good guy to deal with ! Cheers
6. Hi Folks, Well; it's been a long while and just because we've all got nothing better to do (yet again) and because we've been inspired by all the other totally brilliant Basschat Bashes around the country this year, we thought we just have to do another Basschat South East Bash on Saturday 27 November 2010 for your enjoyment!! Here are the details: Date: Saturday 27 November 2010 Time: 10am - 6pm Venue: Jubilee High School, Surrey, School Lane, Addlestone, Surrey KT15 1TE Venue link: Jubilee High School Website Map link: MAP LINK Format: 1 x general area to set up your gear, plus 1 x quiet room/workshop area with workshops through the day, plus Jamming room, plus cafeteria Cost: £10 for the day Charities: We would like to donate any profits from the day to a worthy cause recommended by Ros "Mrs Simon Cox" The Old Git's other half (details to be confirmed): We aim to have some great workshops on the day, pretty much as we did last year! For example, the entrance foyer at the venue served as the 'Quiet Room and a Workshop space last year, which was run very successfully by Happy Jack as it will be this year. We also held some workshops in the theatre last year, but that may not be available to us this time around as it might be too close to Christmas and as such, would be full of the school's Christmas play stuff... But there is another hall that we can use, so whatever happens, we will be okay for space! There will be refreshments available on the day for a small charge of course which will help increase the profits and keep everyone happy! Last year Hamster & Mrs Hamster did all the work on that and have offered to do so again, so many thanks in advance to them! Workshops At the moment, we have 4 workshops confirmed, kindly offered by Jakesbass, 51m0n, alexclaber and johnnylager. We could accomodate 1 more on the day possibly, so if anyone feels bold and brave, then please step forward now!!! Quick update on what we have so far: 1. Music theory / Double-bass - Jakesbass 2. Compression/Compressors - 51m0n 3. Bass tones/using your amp/e.q. advice - alexclaber 4. 'Set up' masterclass - johnnylager Thanks to all the above for offering to lead on these! Costs Last year, it cost £185 for the hire of the venue plus an amount for some public liability insurance cover therefore to cover those basic costs, we need to charge £10 per head entrance fee to one and all! Donation to good causes, in honour of Old Git Like last year and the 2 years before that, all profits will be donated to a good cause, so not only will we have a fabulous day 'navel gazing' as only we Basschatters can, but we will be raising funds for a good cause.. In particular this year, we would like to make a donation in honour of Old Git , who made such a fantastic contribution to the Basschat community over the years! Having consulted with Ros (Si's widow), she said that Si supported and believed in the work of these two Charities particularly: The Kambia Appeal (kambia.org.uk) - supporting a hospital in Sierra Leone (Si did his thing on their last web site) The Samaritans (samaritans.org) So all profits will be divided equally between these two very good causes! Other details such as exactly which rooms/spaces we will have and which ones will be used for what function etc, masterclasses, raffles etc, will be added over the next few weeks. Hope lots of you can come because it's that which'll make it a great day! Please Help What would be really helpful from everyone who's interested in partcipating on the day is: 1. Donations of raffle prizes 2. Ideas/requests for the workshops 3. Volunteers to help out on the day (if needs be) Basically, we've come up with a format based on last year's event but there's no reason why we can't expand on it either.. So all practical ideas/offers welcome! I'm chucking in a couple of things for the raffle to get it started; a pair of Fender Jazz 5 string pick ups and a 5 string Jazz scratchplate that I can't get rid of for love nor money, so they might as well go into the raffle.. What'd be good now is to use this thread to get an idea of who's coming and what gear they'll be bringing..So, to get the ball rolling here's a list of the people I know who are coming: UPDATED LIST: Still looking good, with just over 2 weeks to go... 01. 7. This is another of Jon's Eden cabs that I've heard in action, along with his 212 that's also for sale, and it's a great sounding cab. Much more detailed sounding than I expected. What surprised me most was how light it is though! I used it for a couple gigs a while back and it was such an easy lift compared to my Eden 210 XT.. Good luck with the sale and have a free BUMP!
8.
100% agree. That's why I've been so impressed with the Eden stuff, out of the box it sounds great (to my ears) straightaway with very minimal tweaking, if at all.
+1 Though my amp chappie wasn't so impressed with the build quality when he serviced my Eden Metro, and it is 10 years old now. I still love the sound of it regardless..
9. Have a free BUMP on me.. Gary's a great guy to deal with and his gear is very well looked after! Good luck with the sale
10. How has this not sold yet? It is a thing of wonderous beauty IMO.. ..have a BUMP on me!
11.
How has this not sold yet? Stop haggling with the guy and snap his finger off you tight wads.
Thank you kindly...my sentiments exactly!
12. BUMP! Just to say in answer to the PMs I've had that postage is £5.50 by Royal Mail Standard Parcels delivery or £8.65 by their Special Delivery service and no, there isn't a PSU with it, but you can pick a Zoom one up on Ebay for example, for less than a tenner..
13.
this is some of the music that (ok its cheesy) makes me feel good, and gets me out of a bad mood.., and when im pissed off i can listen to makes me feel better....maybe an excuse to play some music i love.. This woman is my go to music for most of my lifes soundtrack...never mind being pissed off... Anita Baker..Same ole Love...Check the understated Nathan East Slap bass...wonderfull stuff....Im sur Pete and Molan will love this one.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9dytLAEPYE A bit of Floyd....i cant put into words how good this track is...they always blow me away.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUDpc04r_QM .i used to sit on Bournemouth beach late at night and listen to this song... George Benson... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14pitnJlcv4 This is just incredible...mesmerising song by Prince..i can never get over how talented this guy is.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRC6LNnlxVA...feature=related The bass in this Diana Ross track is slick...love the ghost notes comin up to the chorus....
Great thread! Can't believe there's someone else out there who loves 'Strollin' by Prince; it's just a great, uplifting song and so, so effortless! In the same kind of vein, I definitley love clauster's choice of The Isley Brothers 'Summer Breeze'... +1 for 'One Day Like This' by Elbow, but also, there are two other amazing songs on that album that have a similar effect for me; 'Starlings' and 'Mirrorball'..It's a modern-day classic album for sure! And being a bit random, but does anybody else like 'Ventura Highway' by America? It's a song that song always lifts my spirits and has a really cool old skool bass sound as well..
14. Yes, it's still available. I've had a couple of offers (including yours) which are dependent on postage costs, which I will find out for definite this morning..
15.
Wow that's mint. An awesome bit of kit.
+1 I used to use one like that for bass many, many years ago in a rehearsal room where the bass amps were truly awful!!
16. I've had a lot of interest in this, as it seems like it's quite a good price for it.. Some of the enquiries have been about postage, so am going to check postage out on it today and reply to PMs later.
17. Had a couple of PMs on this.... I am out most of the day tomorrow but will reply to any other messages/questions when I get back tomorrow night. Cheers for the interest so far. Nik
