This is a good one; Jerry Preston with a BC Rich Wave bass in Maceo Parker's band.. See Here I've never seen it before but someone selling a Pedulla bass today in the For Sale forum posted it up as an example of their bass sound and I thought it's so good it ought to be shared in this thread... Apologies if it's been posted before and thanks to Claf for the link!
Hello ! I'm selling (or trading) my Pedulla-Orsini bass. The sound is very particular, it's really like Jerry Preston's BC Rich here.
That's a fantastic YouTube clip! What a bass player and a great sound..It's a BC Rich Wave Bass if I recall correctly.. If your bass sounds like that, then it's pretty cool! Good luck with the sale...
I'm not quite sure how to answe rthat really but I will try my best. Compared to my old PM4 that was loaded with the Delano's this bass is not as 'hi-fi' as that. I know that the pickup config's are different but this JJ5 certainly has a slightly more vintage sound to it, particularly when in passive mode. I am pretty sure that this bass has alnico pickups. Hopefully that can help.
Just to clarify, the Haussel pickups are alnico ... here's what they said at Sandberg when I emailed them in December: "hi nik, the pickup is from a small workshop here in germany called „häussel pickups. it’s a real single coil with alnico5 magnetics. Best regards – holger stonjek" I tend to prefer a more 'vintage' tone and IMO, these pick ups are definitely biased more that way, though the pre-amp may also have a bearing on that too.. Hope that helps.

Just to confirm what a fabulous bass this is and it really does deliver sonically! The passive tone itself is superb and the sound from the bridge pick up is so funky it's untrue.. Kick in the active circuit and it gets even better! Alan who owned it before me (and who was the original owner) always described it as 'the tone monster' which sums it up perfectly.. I would have kept this bass if it was 34" scale but being a person who is 'vertically challenged', I struggled a bit with the 35" scale.. If only.. Anyway, I must stop GAS-ing after this again and be sensible.. Good luck with the sale Chris!
Hi, Yikes! Sending this beast overseas would be very expensive. I guess I would send it if you want to pay for the shipping. I have no idea how heavy it is though, anyone? It is the Diesel model by the way in Black Tolex although it has lots of nicks and scuffs. Mine unfortunately (like my Roland combo) doesn't have the casters but I have a specially made board with large casters on that it can be pushed around on Here is a crappy photo of the cab.
The cab is about 150 lbs as I understand it..

who remembers Raw Stylus and Driza Bone?

Loved Drizabone.. Very talented! They were on the same label as me in the early 90's.. the two writer/producers were really nice people as well IIRC. -
Not sure if Eden are a matched option... I always got the impression that you liked either SWR OR Eden... maybe my mistake, so I'll look at what they offer.
Not sure what Eden cabs would be like with an SWR head, but I can't imagine there'd be a problem with an Eden head and SWR cabs.. My SWR Triad sounds unbelievable with an Eden Metro!
Hey Nik, thanks mate!! How's everything with you? tour was great thanks, had an amazing time in The Netherlands and can't wait to go back this summer! Gotta have a bit of a clear out before my tenancy here ends though... so... you know... Also, I'm open to offers guys, this has to go and I know that eBay is one hell of a lot crueller than selling stuff here, so feel free to make an offer... I won't get offended =)
Hi Al, Good thanks.. Sounds like you had a blast!! Looks like you've got a sale already.. Nik

Hi Al, Great looking bass at a good price - hopefully shouldn't be here too long; good luck with the sale.. BTW, Al's a great person to deal with folks, so you can deal with him with absolute confidence! So, how did the tour go and is the Fender Jazz 5 still treating you well (or should that be the other way round?). Nik

Hi Folks, Just bought a Hipshot string retainer from Metalmoore (Andrew) who's been really great to deal with throughout! Highly recommended.. Nik

My BC Rich Eagle is tuned DGCF and it sounds great! No noticeable loss of string tension with a set of 0.45-.105 gauge strings on it.. Works really well for some tunes we do.

Advice sought: B-string on Jazz V
silverfoxnik replied to martindupras's topic in Repairs and Technical
Just a quick update. After contacting Thomann and sending them a photo of the broken strings, they have agreed to send me brand new replacements of the strings (full packs, not just the broken ones.) They didn't make a fuss, and I didn't have to chase it up. +1 for Thomann customer service from me. My experience so far with them has been excellent. - martin
Good news! That's a great example of how to keep your customers.. -
Just bought a Fostex digital recorder from Earbrass, who was a pleasure to deal with throughout! Got to say +1 on the good packaging as well; definitely NVQ 3 standard at least! Many thanks Richard...
Staker, At the end of the day its a feeler, and until the bass is sold at an acceptable price to you, its still a feeler. If you are so stressed about the price and putting it on offer or even selling it, do some research, get your prices right and come back to us.... its not like we are all going to hold you to a price on your bass and seek you out if you pull out of the sale..... You will also find that people on this forum will soon tell you if you are underselling, and that should reassure you that fair is fair.... Go for it, you have nothing to loose Steve
+1
