5.
Showing a pics like that should be covered by some form of law
Great bass Dave! You look like you were in a bit a a trance though; was that just the joy of being at one with your bass or were other factors involved?
 6. Very nice Si! I have a Standard Jazz V myself so can highly recommend them..
 7.
Correct, I e-mailed Mike Tobias about one of these a few years back and that was his reply.
That's one of the great things about Mike Tobias; he always answers his emails! This bass happens to look really good IMO, as well as being a bit of a bargain...
 8.
Lovely bass - it may be worth mentioning that these were designed by Michael Tobias and made under licence. IIRC they had a lightweight body (possibly basswood), a 1-pce maple neck and a nice wenge fingerboard. Electronics were Bart single coils, with volume, pan and stacked bass/treble cut/boost, with a 3-position mid switch common to most Tobias-designed basses. The Hipshot bridge is a nice touch, too. They originally came in black and pilsner (think the colour of lager) - black was much nicer. Not dissimilar to a cheaper version of the modern MTD. In any case, a superb bass with tons of growl for very silly money. Have a bump on me!
+1

 11. Very nice collection; the chocolate brown '78 P Bass is gorgeous...
 12. Depending on the model you might be getting (a MK1 I think), Paul may have some old necks in the workshop so it's definitely worth calling him..
 13. I had a CAR one for a few years and it was fantastic; 1984 model IIRC. Traded it with Beester 3 years ago but still miss it to be honest..
 14. Si..you look really moody in your avatar pic...
 15.
I, like most of us here have tried / played almost everything on the market from cheap crap to expensive exotica. After endless searching I decided to find a 5 string neck I could really play with no preconceptions. And I found to my horror that a Fender American Standard Jazz 5 was the answer. I never considered a fender before as the rumours of poor quality control and average sound for the money put me off. I found the answer was to change the pickups for Nordstands as the fenders are poor in comparison. If you like the neck profile then go for it as the tweaks to the pickups and preamp are endless. Here's a pic of my two......I liked the Jazz so much I bought a second one and got the nice chaps at the gallery to put on an ebony lined fretless board.
+1 I have one too that I bought from Gary Williams last year and like you, I think they really have something to offer! It's a great bass to gig with; very light, very responsive, is really well made and is a joy to play. And because Gary upgraded the pick ups to custom wound Aeros, as well as having a Badass bridge fitted, it's also sounds fantastic! The low B is pretty good for a 34" scale neck too. Works brilliantly with my Eden Metro and really complements my Roscoe Beck 5, which offers similar F/jazz characteristics albeit with a few more tonal options... (thanks to Gary for the photo)
 16.
Peter, that's a real shame you have to get rid of what is a lovely bass but I'm exceedingly happy to hear that other things in your life are progressing positively. Congratulations and best wishes sir!
My sentiments exactly.. Beautiful looking instrument Peter - good luck with sale and with being back on the road again!
 17.
Very cool i'd say ! Congrats
+1 That's quite an honour.... Love the version of 'Let's Go Crazy' by the way...and that is a great bass sound!
 18. Great idea.. Something that our very own jakesbass should run IMO..
 19.
Haha! If you hadn't got the Shuttle we could have swapped. Ah well... Let me have a ponder
Here we go again Mert!! It is very tempting I would imagine.. Especially as it's a good price for a very well-featured amp with plenty of power and the ability to run at 2 ohms.. I used to use mine with an SWR Triad and an SWR 210 and it was a really, really good sound.. Good luck with it!
 20. Looks like a great piece of kit.. Good luck with it Chris!
 21. Don't mind the look actually, but it's seems more of a guitar shape than a bass to me. What do they sound like - anyone heard one?
 22.
By God! Welcome to the Sad Club guys
Wasn't it Macca who used to take his guitar to the toilet when he was a teenager? Seems as though the Sad Club has been around for quite a while...
 23.
Yo dont see many of these in Gospel especially a four...sounds fantastic....
