1. It's not Pino... That's actually a good mate of mine called Andy Coughlan playing a Wal Fretless Pro 1.. He also has a couple of other very nice Wals in his kit bag as well, including one he calls 'Old Bluey' because it's a special one off light-blue colour. A fantastic player, these days Andy does a lot of double-bass work, but he still does a lot of gigs with his Wals, including Cerys Matthews amongst others.
 2.
They most certainly are. I wonder who's idea it was to form a band with just the uncool instruments?
3.
Enfield/Barnet? Was hoping for something a bit more, well, London.
When I lived there Pete, Enfield & Barnet were very much 'London', albeit a bit suburban.. Perhaps we should see if Her Majesty will hire out a room in Buck Palace for an afternoon?
 4. Hi Folks Just learning this song but haven't found a decent TAB online that seems to fit the song chords, especially in the chorus. I have tried 911tabs, Ultimate-Guitar Tabs as well as Bassmasta, but none of them seem to have a really good, definitive version.. I think it's one of those basslines that was written & recorded on a synth, which might explain why I'm having particular trouble with it? So, if anyone's got a TAB version of it that they can share or any clues on it generally, i'd be very grateful! Cheers Nik
 5.
If you want a school than I can ask my daughter what's available in her area - she's a teacher in Barnet at a nice little school. Good location, just off the North Circ & walking distance from Arnos Grove tube or New Southgate overground.
I lived in that area (Southgate/Winchmore Hill/Enfield) for 30 years, so that brings back some memories.. If you end up holding the Bash around there, I'll definitely come up for it! I remember the Arnos Grove rehearsal room too; last used it about 4 years ago having a jam with a couple of mates who still live in the area. Going completely off-topic, I still have very fond memories of those old 1930s tube stations out that way...Southgate especially!
 6. They look so cool - well done!! You should definitely make & sell them; Basschat is a good place to start promoting that kind of idiosyncratic & individual product..
 7. Small contribution made Jack. I hope that the family finds a way to bring their son home...
 8. Very unique collection of basses!! Being a bit of a traditionalist, I really love the look of the Sadowsky, but the Ritter and the Kennedy certainly have a 'wow' factor' about them!

 12.
Really sorry to hear that Jack. Thoughts to his family and friends, and to the band C
+1 That's so utterly sad. My daughter is 19 so it resonates very strongly with me...Sincere condolences Jack.
 13.
Showing a pics like that should be covered by some form of law
Great bass Dave! You look like you were in a bit a a trance though; was that just the joy of being at one with your bass or were other factors involved?
 14. Very nice Si! I have a Standard Jazz V myself so can highly recommend them..
 15.
Correct, I e-mailed Mike Tobias about one of these a few years back and that was his reply.
That's one of the great things about Mike Tobias; he always answers his emails! This bass happens to look really good IMO, as well as being a bit of a bargain...
 16.
Lovely bass - it may be worth mentioning that these were designed by Michael Tobias and made under licence. IIRC they had a lightweight body (possibly basswood), a 1-pce maple neck and a nice wenge fingerboard. Electronics were Bart single coils, with volume, pan and stacked bass/treble cut/boost, with a 3-position mid switch common to most Tobias-designed basses. The Hipshot bridge is a nice touch, too. They originally came in black and pilsner (think the colour of lager) - black was much nicer. Not dissimilar to a cheaper version of the modern MTD. In any case, a superb bass with tons of growl for very silly money. Have a bump on me!
+1

 19. Very nice collection; the chocolate brown '78 P Bass is gorgeous...
 20. Depending on the model you might be getting (a MK1 I think), Paul may have some old necks in the workshop so it's definitely worth calling him..
 21. I had a CAR one for a few years and it was fantastic; 1984 model IIRC. Traded it with Beester 3 years ago but still miss it to be honest..
 22. Si..you look really moody in your avatar pic...
 23.
I, like most of us here have tried / played almost everything on the market from cheap crap to expensive exotica. After endless searching I decided to find a 5 string neck I could really play with no preconceptions. And I found to my horror that a Fender American Standard Jazz 5 was the answer. I never considered a fender before as the rumours of poor quality control and average sound for the money put me off. I found the answer was to change the pickups for Nordstands as the fenders are poor in comparison. If you like the neck profile then go for it as the tweaks to the pickups and preamp are endless. Here's a pic of my two......I liked the Jazz so much I bought a second one and got the nice chaps at the gallery to put on an ebony lined fretless board.
+1 I have one too that I bought from Gary Williams last year and like you, I think they really have something to offer! It's a great bass to gig with; very light, very responsive, is really well made and is a joy to play. And because Gary upgraded the pick ups to custom wound Aeros, as well as having a Badass bridge fitted, it's also sounds fantastic! The low B is pretty good for a 34" scale neck too. Works brilliantly with my Eden Metro and really complements my Roscoe Beck 5, which offers similar F/jazz characteristics albeit with a few more tonal options... (thanks to Gary for the photo)
 24. Lovely collection! The Deep 5 is stunning...
 25.
Peter, that's a real shame you have to get rid of what is a lovely bass but I'm exceedingly happy to hear that other things in your life are progressing positively. Congratulations and best wishes sir!
My sentiments exactly.. Beautiful looking instrument Peter - good luck with sale and with being back on the road again!
