1. Go for the Roscoe Beck!! Then re-start this thread...
 2.
Yeah shes a cracker,thick as sh*t though.
3. Thanks folks, that's really helpful.. The Amon Tobin stuff is really cool too! The Culture Show clip made me laugh when Squarepusher spoke about being somewhere 'creatively between a ciche and a monkey'.. Having looked at quite a few of the YouTube clips now, I think his bass playing is less exciting than what he's doing with his electronic music, though you can hear how the bass is also a key element at times.. (Going completely off-topic for a minute, is it me or Lauren Laverne really quite luminously beautiful? Maybe I had one too many yesterday...)
 4. Hi Folks I was recently watching the 'Lost in Translation' movie and loved the soundtrack so much that I ordered it from Amazon. Amazingly, Amazon got the CD here before Xmas so I've been listening to it a lot these last few days. Turns out one of my favourite pieces of music from the film is by 'Squarepusher'; a beautiful but short track called "Tommib" which reminds me of Erik Satie, Debussy and Steve Reich amongst others. It's quite stunning! I can't find the actual clip from the movie where it's used but here's a YouTube cover.. I knew from threads on here of his quite considerable bass playing talents but it seems that there's a lot more to Squarepusher as a musician than I realised. Is anyone else a fan, and what else of his catalogue should I check out..? Thanks Nik

 6.
Nice present from my wife and kids,a red jag, would like help with what dose what. Also looking for lessons mid wales area.
This springs to mind..
 7.
Not sure which sort of wood this is...it's not mentionned on the inside. Bought it from Duncan (based around New York) and apparantly this bass seems to have a connection with Howard Jones ? Sounds great though it has only one pick-up and the output is amazing (more than some active basses)
Very nice and as you say, that's quite an unusual facing.. I've always found Wal basses, passive or active models, to have a really strong output. Mine is the 'hottest' of all my basses.. Merry Xmas by the way!
 8. Me too! Nice bass playing and a very lovely fat sounding Lakland...
 9.
Well I thought it would be worth a try. Happy Christmas to you too.
And to you too!
 10. Welcome to Basschat implo! Nice to have more overseas members, especially if they're originally from Blighty. Hope you like it; I think it's fair to say that it's good around here...
 11.
Recently purchased a stunning Sandberg 5 string off silverfoxnik but have the desire to convert it to a high C. Anyone know where I migth be able to get this done? I wouldn't want to risk it myself. Cheers
Hi Chris Maybe Sandberg would do one for you; I'm sure they'll have been asked for one before? Website is: http://www.sandberg-guitars.de/ or email: holger stonjek at: [email protected] Good luck! Nik
 12. Hi James Thanks for replying to my PM and holding on whilst we worked stuff out. So, yes, consider it sold (apologies to all other interested parties)! See you on the A1/M25 interchange just after Xmas; have a good one in the meantime! Nik
 13. Seriously nice bass & good luck with the sale! I had one of these around 1991 and it was fabulous, though yours looks like it's got wider string spacing which is a good thing IMO..
 14.
Recently undertook a 250 mile round trip in the snow to meet with Nik and purchase a damn fine Sandberg JJ5. What can I say that hasnt already been said? Nik is a top guy!! The whole expeirence was made an utter pleasure by his warm hospitality and friendly nature. The weeks leading up to the sale, Nik was in constant contact with fully informative emails, information and advice and on the day itself he went out of his way to make sure I was happy with the purchase. Nik is someone I would definately do another 250 miles for if he was to sell his Wal Some earlier in the thread described Nik as one of the 'good guys' I cant echo this sentiment enough. Certainly a man to do business with.
Thanks Chris - the feeling is mutual! having said that, no amount a flattery is going to get me to part with the Wal.. Have a good Xmas mate!
 15. I have totally sympathy for anyone here who's been mucked about on a deal, whether buying/selling or trading.. It's usually the lack of communication and rudeness that is most upsetting, because they're the things that don't actually cost anything when dealing with someone! Thankfully, it's not happened to me yet and I hope that I've not done the same thing to others here inadvertently..but sometimes life does throw an unexpected spanner in the works! Almost without exception, everyone I've met through Basschat has been absolutely fantastic and a pleasure to deal with and I can't see that changing even with the membership growing as rapidly as it is.
 16.
Well thats just marvelous, now I am finding the website a joy to browse which is creating some major GAS. Nice website, much much better and nice and clear. Good stuff and thanks for letting us know.
+1

 18. Yes.. about double I think..
 19. Just sold a Sandberg JJ5 bass to Chris who is a great guy, and a fine player too! Many thanks to Ms. Uzzell (Hanna) for providing much needed transport on the day and for her patience in listening to me waffle on about all things bass with Chris.. Hope you enjoy the bass Chris!
 20. Sold a 1x10 cab recently to Steve and though there were a few technical issues with it all, he was a pleasure to deal with throughout! To quote him, he's 'one of the good guys' here on BC and I'd be more than happy to deal with him again anytime.. Thanks Steve!
 21.
Bought a little bass cab of Nik, top bloke and went out of his way to kmake sure i was happy with it One of the good guys!
Thanks Steve! The feeling is mutual.. Nik
 22. That is gorgeous! Knowing some of the basses you've owned or still own Gareth, that's high praise indeed!! I think it's the simplicity of it's design that catches the eye most...
 23.
The only cab I've owned heavier than the Mesa Boogie was that H&K 4x10 I got from you Nik. Took three of us to get it up the stairs at gigs
Very true; we used to call it 'the beast' in my band for that very reason! Funnily enough, I was thinking about ith the other day Chris.. remembering how good it sounded in fact!! With my old GK 700RB head and my Wal it sounded fabulous...
 24.
Hi All Just bought a Fender Jazz Deluxe 5 String from SpectorNick- really good guy. The bass hadnt been used for a while- strings dead and the action was really high. I set it up with Warwick black labels- lowered the action and raised the pickups- I am amazed at how well it sounds and plays. Even the B string is OK- My new workhorse - certainly fits better in my soul band than my Warwick Thumb!! Feels like a different bass guitar!! Cheers Bob
I've had two, both bought via Basschat and both excellent basses. I use my present one for gigging and we play stuff from old Motown tunes right through to Coldplay and The Killers and it works really well in all musical settings.. The low B is not as defined as on some 35" scale basses but it's still pretty good.
 25. Great idea and can only add to your abilities IMO.. Good luck with it!
