Use anything u like that I posted in the photo thread, although they are probably all rather blurry and plop due to my massive deficit of talent in that area....
Thanks!

Hi Folks Bass Guitar Magazine have said they'll run a piece in a forthcoming issue about the SE Bash, which is great news.. So, I wondered if anyone has any hi-res photos they took that they think really captured the spirit of the day..and if so, could we use them? I guess we'll only be allowed one or two shots at most so narrowing it down to the best 2 shots might be tricky.. We've only got until the end of the week to do this so please could you PM me and we'll go from there. Oh - and if anyone has any brief anecdotes/funnies/comments about the day that they think are relevant and could go in the article, then please could you post them here or send a PM - thanks! Thanks Nik
Another bit of good news is that, as I understand it from ped, Bass Guitar Magazine have donated some annual subscriptions that we are going to be able to offer to try to bring the overall amount raised up to as close to £500 as we can.. Not sure how many we have yet but we are going to offer them out at £15 each..
Hi Guys Sorry for the delay in posting this but we were waiting for the Ed at BGM who's been on holiday.. OK; we have been very kindly donated five Bass Guitar Magazine subscriptions that we can offer at £15.00 each which is an absolute bargain! One was taken and paid for by Silddx on the day of the Bash, so that means we have just four left. It's first come first served I'm afraid, so if you want one, send a PM or post here! Cheers Nik
Hello to everyone. My name is Kyriakos and i live in Cyprus. I have only been playing bass guitar for less than 2 years now, but i am in a good level as i have been playing guitar for over 7 years now. Just for the record i'm under 18 and i hope that in a few years i will be able to come and study bass in the UK. I currently play a Parker PB61SP
Welcome Kyriakos! It's great to see someone on here from Cyprus.. My father was from Cyprus (Lefkara) and my brother lives there now near Kolossi, so it is a very special place for me! I visited Cyprus for the first time in 1973, the year before the Turkish invasion and it was a very different place back then - more rural and less 'westernised' and perhaps more beautiful? But to the people's credit, the southern side of the island has prospered since then despite what happened! Anyway, good to see you here and I hope you enjoy Basschat; it's a great place! Nik
Hey Dave, looks great in all black! Very stealth. Glad it worked out for the gig last night.
+1 That's gorgeous! Regarding the RF noise, you might be able to get a noiseless J-style pick up to slot right in to save you all the hassle of routing the body even further?
+1, although I prefer the Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator knob to the Visible Panty Line knob.

In both cases my tone comes mainly from my fingers, hand position, strings, pickup selection, and rolling back the treble on the bass itself. If I had to run anything far from flat I'd think there was something wrong either with the room or with my equipment.
+1 Exactly!
Available on the red button today, what a great bass player barry adamson is.
+1 One of my favourite bands; 'Real Life' is a brilliant album...
I know this should really be in "How was your gig last night" but I feel it's more allied to playing bass. Got in about 45 mins ago from a gig. There were about 150 people there and it was an informal dinner type jobby. With that many in the audience over here, you'd usually find about 4 - 6 musos and you'll end up in the occaisional jam/free for all. Usually mind numbingly slow blues but not tonight. I had the pleasure of having to play 3 songs I knew (in my head) but had never actually got around to playing before. I'd really forgotten how great they were. Scottish girl said she wanted a go at singing. She could do it. Up on the roof, Will you still love me tomorrow and You got a friend. So, a serious King / Goffin fan. Not difficult to busk but what great numbers. Sorry to sound like a 57 year old but they don't write them like that any more.
+1 Great songs....

That's a great bass and a fascinating bit of feedback from it's creator! IIRC, I had a go on this bass at the SE Bass Bash in 2007 and it was stunning! I am a fan of black basses, so I wouldn't change it personally but if you do, I'm sure it will be equally as impressive!

NORTH EAST BASS BASH - NOVEMBER 2009 - PICS & VIDEO ADDED!
silverfoxnik replied to wateroftyne's topic in Events
Sounds great - good luck with it ! -
That's bloody gorgeous Chris!! I started playing bass properly in bands as a teenager on a Hondo Ric copy and then scraped enough cash together finally to buy a proper Ric, which I kept for a few years.. They are very unique instruments and I'm not suprised to hear what you're saying about the tone! Do you think the fact that they're thru neck makes a difference?
For Sale my Wal pro 1 1987 W2782 its on the evil bay at an evil bay price but if one of you guys is interested make me an offer. Those that went to the SE bassbash have seen it and those that didn't "shame on you" I've put up the only pic I have at the moment but can post more detailed pics if required Any questions please ask I probably wont know the answer but I'll just add it to all the other things I discovered I didn't know about it whille at the bassbash. Cheers john
Thinking about it John, I'm not exactly sure whether this is a Pro model or a Custom model? It was built in 1987 so that is in the 'Custom' era if you like, but I can't remember what circuitry Wal put in these particular models... Because even a Wal passive bass has some kind of circuitry in it.. Not sure if that's a help to you or not but thought I'd mention it in case it is. Nik
Prompted by a thread in a the for sale section, I think we need a Pedulla thread in the pron section as things things are incredibly sexy, and mighty fine basses too! Mine is a 5 string Pentabuz, bart p/ups, had the laquer removed from the neck so it's down to the bare ebony as there was a lot of wear in it I thought I had a photo of mine on this laptop, but I was wrong, gonna have to use a shot of it in action for now!
Have to agree! That's a very nice looking bass indeed....
Gotta bump this old thread as Dennis Dunaway is the bomb! He was crucial to my early bass listening. AC's original band was awesome. DD had really good tone & some amazing groove going on
+1 He was also incredibly melodic too and in the AC band, the bass was really influential in a lot of songs..and that's what caught my attention most when I first started playing bass..i.e. that it was okay to be 'musical' as a bass player..
I shall definitely be attending this as Dave likes the idea of having a wall of Barefaced cabs on show! I'll be doing a workshop on acoustics and tone at 2pm, which unlike the other workshops will be free, because I'm worth it. Alex P.S. Just noticed I'll be Herbie Flowers' warm-up act. Am scared...
Cool! Will get a chance to hear them this time as I was too busy at the SE bash...
