My 2 Compacts are stunning together and can only presume the Vintage is the same if not a little better. Cheers, JTB
+2 Heard Merton's Vintage at the SE Bash and it was unbelievably good!! And considering it's a 215, it was pretty light as well...

 3.
I come from the age of vinyl, like the author of that article -- when you went into town on Saturday afternoon with your few quid and scoured the record shops, coming home with 2,3, maybe 4 carefully selected albums. You put on an album, you listened to the whole thing, all the way through, carefully. Listened again. And again, if it really grabbed you. And again, if it was an instant classic. Back then I think I probably knew every lyric to every song on every album I owned, because music was very definitely finite and so we listened more carefully. Perhaps we even treasured it more?
+2 (or is that 3) That was exactly my experience.. And i think because music was once so much harder to access, it was more treasured as a result IMO! Going back to Alex's OP, he definitely has a point; there's just so much music on stream 24/7 now, either as a backdrop or soundtrack to something else, that it has somehow become devalued as a result. Part of that change has definitely been driven by technology and because we can use cool functions like 'shuffle', the idea of an album as a piece of art in it's own right has become almost meaningless. That's not to say that it's all bad, just that the landscape has changed. My daughter who's 19 has grown up with the new technology and new formats and she loves music just as much as I did when i was her age..but she listens to it in a very different way.

 5.
Some cracking shots in this thread! Here's a couple from a gig two weeks ago, first outing for my Corvette Fretless in its new white livery.
+1 Your two shots aren't too bad either!!
 6.
GAS is a cruel, cruel mistress.
Yup! Expensive too...
 7. Greetings from one West Sussex bass player to another.. the more the merrier I say!
 8. Very nice and a good price too! Good luck with the sale...
 9.
But i need to raise some cash as i've just ordered a brand new wal 6 string from paul herman.
Congratulations on ordering the Wal 6 And good luck with the sale of the Warwick...
 10. The DJ5 is stunning! I've always like a P/J configuration on a bass as well, something Yamaha have always done.. Am surprised it doesn't crop up more often as it sounds so good!
 11. Very nice! That Kinal really is a looker as well...
 12. Sounds great - good luck! It's always important to push yourself musically, creatively so seems to me (being on the outside looking in as it were) that you're doing the right thing...
 13.
Hey Nik - just wanted to thank you for making the goodbye to my Fender Jazz 5 as easy as it could have been! Pleasure to deal with you and wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone dealing with you. Great communications, handy player and a damn nice guy all round! Thanks again Nik! Gary Williams
Thanks Gary! The feeling's mutual...
 14.
let's not leave it too long until the next one!
Isn't it about time for another National Bash Ped??
 15.
Last evening Hamster very kindly dropped by to deliver my Hartke strings raffle prize and surprised me with a Get Well card signed by those who were at the Bash. It was a wonderful thought. Thank you so much. I've just spent a long time this morning trying to decipher all the messages and signatures. I was very disappointed that I couldn't be there. Hopefully I'll be fit again for the next Bash.
We all hope so too Dave!
 16.
I had an identical pair and they sounded really nice. Just needed a lot of juice.
Hey Steve, How's things mate? Nik
 17.
I'm thinking about moving these bad boys along. I don't play tuned down, or 5 strings so really I'm not getting full use of them. They're both in very good nick and come with covers. I'd take £450 collected for the pair I think. Or I can post. I work from home so waiting for a courier is no problem.
I think Alex Claber used to own some of these and as we all know, Alex knows his stuff, so they must be very good... Good luck with the sale/trade!
 18. BUMP! Couldn't get photos sorted last night but will do some later today...
 19. *** SOLD *** Thanks for the interest!
 20.
I'm very interested in this! I'm in Exeter - post code is EX4 4PF, so if you could check postage prices that would be great.
Hi Chris, OK, cool..will do. I guess it'll be between £10 and £14 depending on which courier is used.. Do you have any preference on which company to use? Nik
 21. *** NOW SOLD *** Thanks for the interest.. Hi Folks Bought this GK 700RB head a while ago on here but don't use it as I have the Eden Metro rig now, so am looking to sell it to raise some cash. It's just been fully serviced, comes with the original box & manual and in my opinion, is one of the best value lightweight amps around.. It's exactly the same as this one I had a few years ago but is in much better condition: I will put up some more info and some actual photos tonight.. Thanks Nik
 22. 3rd BUMP for price reduction to £70.00 ono + p&p Thought I'd BUMP this up to see if anyone's interested before I put it on Ebay? Also thought it would help if I included this quote from silddx who had a play on the bass at the SE Bash earlier this month:
Absolutely wickid day! Wonderful meeting so many cool people. There was some seriously high end kit there as well as HappyJack's £75 Kay, which was the surprise of the day for me, a great bass!
Silddx thought it belonged to Happy Jack as it was in The Quiet Room where Jack was most of the day.. so it was nice to get an unexpected endorsement for this bass from someone who knows a good bass when he plays one...
 23. Great cabs! I have one myself and love the sound of it.. Good luck with the sale.
 24. Hi Folks Just had the pleasure of buying a lovely Fender Jazz 5 from Gary. Apart from the fact it's a great bass that came with all the original parts, case, case candy etc, Gary's a really cool person to deal with and a fine, fine player! So, though he's relatively new here on Basschat, I can highly recommend him to one and all.. Thanks a lot Gary! Look forward to seeing you at the Bass Day in Brighton at the weekend. Nik
