2.
how would it sound in a metal band? i'm looking for something fairly punchy/growly, or is it sort of neutral sounding like a markbass?
That's a good question! Being a sad old git, I'm not in a metal band but we do Jump by Van Halen, a Killers track and a Hendrix track and the amp always sounds very punchy - though it depends on the type of bass you use as well.. But this amp has good definition and flexibility with mid frequencies, and you can dial in some valve emulation as well.. so should be fine.. Hope that helps!
 3. Just been up to the wilds of Essex this evening to meet Jay and, in exchange for giving him lots of pieces of paper with pictures of the Queen on them, he has given me his Eden Metro & Eden 210 rig which sounds absolutely fantastic! The cup of tea & chat was very nice too... Got to say that Jay was a pleasure to deal with and I'd happily do business with him again! Thanks a lot Jay!
 4.
good god, these are some of the finest collection of basses ive seen hear on BC, this side of CK's instruments
+1
 5. Very nice I would imagine... But best not go down that road, Mert.. T'will all end in tears I say!!
 6.
I owned a Status 2000 which was all graphite and have played several Stealth 1s. I've played dozens of various Statii over the years and have never yet found one that works for me. One thing I will add is that the syntheticness I mention isn't just the clackiness, it's everything about the sound. If you dial in a smooth round sounds it still sounds synthetic to my ears.
I got a chance to have a go on Crez's Status this evening and I was really impressed by the sound of it! Wasn't comfortable with the feel of the graphite neck still, but tonally, it was possible to use the onboard e.q. to get a very wide range of sounds, including some of those 'old skool' tones (for want of a better expression) that tend to suit an old luddite like me. So, I must confess to having had my expectations very nicely challenged....!!
 7.
PM'd ya silverfox
And replied!!
 8. Now on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=150360091980 I've listed it at a slightly higher BIN price and without the 2U case, but this offer of £300 inc the SKB case still stands to any Basschatters interested...
 9.
I played my TF at three gigs this week - it does 'deep'. That's why I bought it to replace a fretless Jazz which was lovely and sounded great but didn't do 'deep' in the way I was looking for. It's fretless Fender heaven around here at the moment.
FWIW, I remember hearing Dave's TF at a gig in May and it sounded absolutely glorious, so I assume Legion's will do too...
 10.
Upright bass players of the 1960's had the same attitude about bass guitars (with wooden necks).
I accept that I am a total luddite, though in a bizarre Victor Meldrew kind of way, I find that quite comforting...
 11.
Hey Rich..Ha ha not too many..2 have gone...I dont really want loads of instruments,im just trying to wittle it down to basses that i cant find any faults in and i adore playing..The Fender CS being one and the Sei being the other. The stingray is pretty awsome too...I will eventually sell or trade off the others as i only need basses for the music im doing... I cant help but want a Ken Smith or a Celinder mind..
+1 One of the best quotes ever on Basschat.. sums up the bassist's eternal dilema!
 12.
While you were working all that out I got an electric drill and a jig saw and substantially reduced the weight of several of my basses.

I love this forum
+1
 13.
Like I said in my first post, graphite necks sell themselves. There's no point in playing one if you prefer the sound of or are used to wooden necks. Anyone critcising a graphite neck for not sounding like a wooden one might as well criticise vodka for not tasting like whiskey... ...and thats even assuming that everyone has the same ideal tone in mind.
+1 I know that I definitely prefer wooden necks, for their tone and feel and I've never wanted a bass to have perfect stability or consistency.. to me, that's always been the domain of synths.
 14. Great basses IMO, and I've owned two Eagles over the years.. Price wise, this is well worth the money because a new one would cost a lot, lot more and if you can find a vintage one of these second hand (and they're usually in The States), they're at least £1000 plus shipping & taxes.. The circuit design offers so much flexibility it's untrue and, as with my 1984 NJ series model, the necks on these are as good as anything else out there. Wish I could afford it myself but alas, that's just not possible right now.. Anyway, good luck with the sale!
 15. 'Friday morning, wondering if I've got swine flu and it's raining a lot', kind of B-U-M-P!

 17.
I agree, bomb proof and they punch way above their perceived value. For £100 you can't go wrong... so long as it all pretty much works but you can expect/forgive the odd scratchy pot etc.
+1 I have a MkIII and a MarkIV and they are fantastic.. For a while, I used to use the MkIV with a 1x15 and that sounded great, so I expect this 2x15 will be absolutely brilliant! Good luck with it...
 18.
Mine isn't?? I have tone controls on my bass and amp...................
I take your point, but don't graphite necks have an inherently brighter and more'zingy' kind of sound to them?
