1.
Ahem. Sorry. I do love my LH500 so I shall stop being a plum now.

I heard the nemesis head running into one of my eden cabs and it sounded pretty darn good.Nik is a joy to deal with, so all you potential buyers can purchase with confidence.Prices are ultra reasonable!!!
Cheers Jon! Appreciate the support....
  2. Thanks guys! Really appreciate the positive comments....
  3.
Bargainous! And Nik is an absolute gent too. I've always hankered after one of these ever since owning an NA320 for a short while and stupidly selling it before I prperly got to grips with it. Hmmm. Stop it.
Thanks Mert! Much as you are one of BC's finest and I want to sell this amp asap, I think the key words in your post were 'stop it'! Now, repeat after me: "I am very happy with my existing rig", "I am very happy with my existing rig", "I am very happy with my existing rig" etc, etc.. Nik
  4.
My first "proper" rig was one of these cabs with a Triad and SWR Basic 350 amp. Awesome tone and build quality!
Cheers Gareth! Never hear the my SWR cabs with an SWR head but they've sounded very good with Eden, Peavey and Gallien Krueger heads, which is a good sign I think...
  5. Hi Folks I'm upgrading my rig so need to move on some of my equipment that has served me very well over the last year or so, starting with this Eden Nemesis NA650 head, which I'm asking £300 + p&p for. I paid about £320 for the head last year and £20 for the SKB case IIRC, so I think the price I'm asking is reasonable given the current economic climate. I bought it last year here on Basschat and it's been brilliant for the kind of gigs I do, which are pubs, clubs, weddings etc.. So much so, that I now intend to upgrade my rig to an Eden Metro. The NA 650 is very punchy and warm sounding, which might sound like a contradiction but it's not, and the tonal flexibility is fantastic, as it is with all Eden amps. There's 3-band e.q, semi-parametric eq, a very good D.I, tube emulation circuit, compressor, fx loops, mute switch etc, etc.. You name it; it has it and does it!! Here's some photos, including a stock photo which shows the front & rear panels very clearly.. And it's nice and loud: 275 Watts @ 8 Ohms, 440 Watts @ 4 Ohms, 650 Watts @ 2 Ohms.. One of the great features of this amp IMO is that it will run down to 2 ohms, which means you don't always have to buy 8 ohm cabs!! Anyway, here's the blurb and spec: "The flagship of the Nemesis line. The NA650 is 2 spaces high and 17" wide by 11" deep. It features a unique preamp design and an all FET output stage with 650W RMS at 2 ohms. This unit has Enhance, Edge, and Gain boost controls; selectable DI pre/post, front-panel DI level control, as well as a smooth, solid FET sound with plenty of power to drive multiple speaker cabinets. Nemesis NA650 Bass Head Specifications: * Power: 650W RMS@ 2 ohms * Distortion: <.1% * Frequency Response: 10Hz - 18kHz * Headroom: 3dB * Dimensions: 17"W x 3-1/2"H x 11"D * Weight: 28 lbs. Nemesis NA650 Bass Head Features: * 650W RMS @ 2 ohms * Unique preamp design * FET output stage * Semi-parametric EQ with Enhance, Gain Boost, and Edge controls * Selectable pre/post DI with front-panel level control * Pre-EQ effects loop" There's some interesting user reviews and comments here: http://www.eden-electronics.com/forum/topi...?TOPIC_ID=12260 And it might be worth reading this recent Basschat thread about the NA650 HERE which covers quite a bit of detail about these amps, including the low-level hum that they produce which is an inherent design fault apparently. When I got mine, I had it thoroughly serviced and checked over to see what was causing the hum, but my amp tech couldn't eliminate it. Having said all that, when you're using the amp in anger, you can't hear the hum at all! There's no reviews that I can find on Harmony Central for this amp but have a look at bassist Bill Clement here on YouTube, who uses the NA650 - the guy is amazing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SX_PFH--rXo My reason for selling is simply to upgrade, hopefully to an all Eden rig as I said above, but otherwise, I'd be very happy to continue using this amp with my SWR cabs because it sounds bloody good! It's in pretty good condition and works perfectly, though the SKB case is a little tatty but perfectly functional! When I bought it originally, I had it couriered via APC which cost me £15 at the time and I would be happy to ship this in a similar fashion for anyone who is interested but not within easy reach of here..here being Littlehampton in West Sussex by the way. For anyone else who's interested and nearby, then you'd be very welcome to come here, have a cuppa and a chat and listen to it in action! Any questions, feel free to PM me or ask away here.. Thanks for looking. Nik
  6. Sold Hi Folks I'm upgrading my rig so need to move on some of my equipment that has served me very well over the last couple of years, starting with this mid 90's SWR Goliath Junior II 210 cab, which is for sale at £150 plus p&p. It seems that SWR really peaked as a company in the 90's and this cab is an excellent example of what they did very well back then..which was make great sounding bass gear! I bought this on Basschat about 2 years ago, then sold it on last year. But in typical Basschat fashion, recently bought it back again because I missed the sound it gave me when running it in conjunction with my SWR Triad.. Though it is excellent with the Triad, it's also a great sounding cab in it's own right and because of the twin rear ports, it has an excellent frequency range and handles the low B on my 5 String basses very well!! Here's what the SWR website says about it: "The first upgrade to our original 2x10, featuring a redesigned crossover, input panel and 10" driver, as well as upgraded construction techniques and materials. The Goliath Junior II was upgraded again in 1996 to the Goliath Junior III. Impedance: 4 ohms Power Handling Capacity: 250 Watts RMS Sensitivity: 103 dB SPL @ 1W1M Frequency Response: -6db @ 40Hz and 12kHz Production Period: 1990 to 1996 Final Retail Price: $649.00" And there's some very good reviews, first on BGRA HERE and also on Harmony Central HERE. It is in good condition cosmetically considering it's age, and in all other respects it is working perfectly! It is quite heavy at 55lbs but because it's quite small and compact with good side handles, I can move this around quite easily. (By the way, the mark at the back of the cab is on the photo, not actually on the cab!!) My reason for selling is simply to upgrade, hopefully to an all Eden rig, but otherwise, I'd be very happy to continue using this cab because it sounds great! And 'great' to me means that it very faithfully reproduces the sound of your bass & amp, without any real colouration.. When I bought it originally, I had it couriered via APC which cost me £25 at the time and I would be happy to ship this in a similar fashion for anyone who is interested but not within easy reach of here..here being Littlehampton in West Sussex by the way. For anyone else who's interested and nearby, then you'd be very welcome to come here, have a cuppa and a chat and listen to it in action! Any questions, feel free to PM me or ask away here.. Thanks for looking. Nik
  7. ON HOLD pending payment etc... Hi Folks I'm selling some items I don't use to get funds together to upgrade my rig, so here is my Yamaha Nathan East Parametric EQ pedal for sale at £45 inc p&p. Everything you need to know about it can be found on the Yamaha website HERE It is a very simple effect pedal to use but makes a big improvement to your sound without any hassle. There's some excellent reviews for it here on Harmony Central: http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews...ametric+EQ/10/1 It runs on 9v battery power only but I've had the same battery in this one for a while, so it's not too expensive in terms of new batteries.. This one is in very good condition, works perfectly and cosmetically is 9/10 I'd say.. and IMO, I think it looks very cool in a retro kind of way!! My reason for letting this go is that, even after selling it, I will still have an Aphex Bass Exciter (which has a slight fault so am not comfortable about selling it here on BC) and I'm upgrading my rig to an amp with almost endless tonal possibilities.. So i figure I can safely move this on now and hopefully, there'll be some interest here for it? Feel free to ask any questions here or via PM and thanks for looking.. Nik
  8.
I've owned a few. I had an S2 classic new from Status and a graphite replacement neck for a p bass. They feel great, they're built great, and IMHO, after much deliberation, I think they sound pants compared to a wood neck. YMMV. Not a very musical bottom end, too woofy, and the top end sounds plastic-y for want of a better word. I think a wooden fingerboard paired to a graphite neck might improve matters but it certainly wasn't the tone for me.
+1 Too bright, too artificial, to '80s sounding - which is OK if that's your thing....
  9. Gorgeous in a way that induces dangerously high levels of GAS!!
  10. Fantastic luthier; London based and a bit of a well-kept secret! I've seen a few of his basses over the years and they are very high quality instruments. Colin (lowering the tone) had a Finch version of a Wal 5 string IIRC and it was excellent! It'd be very worth a punt on this auction I feel..
  11.
I wouldn´t want to blame it exclusively on Morrissey & Co. (although the songs were sub-par for the most part IMO). The venue they played (Gasometer, haven´t been there before) has a reputation for horrible sound but just how horrible I had no idea. Muddier than the droppings of a swamp monster on diarrhea. Doll and the Kicks however managed to get a decent sound. Ok, they were just guitar, bass, drums and a singer but still... Well, lesson learned - I´ll never get anywhere near that venue again unless they manage to bring back John Martyn, Jeff Buckley and Miles Davis.
That'll be some gig!!!
  12. Just bought a Sandberg five string set and fitted them to my Fender Jazz Deluxe V and was very, very disappointed in the quality of the strings.. First of all, very poor string tension which didn't flatter the B string at all and there was no real definition in the sound; I think the words 'flabby' and 'vague' spring to mind.. Worst of all was the fact that the intonation was suddenly all over the place?? Anyway, they were so bad I took them off and put the old EBS strings back on and, although they're pretty old, they sounded much, much better and everything was suddenly back in tune! Was this just a bad batch or has anyone else experienced this with a set of Sanbergs?
  13. Very interesting and congratulations by the way! Been thinking about doing the same thing myself, so this is encouraging news..
  14.
have a bump from a fellow wal owner, can't believe it's not gone yet. Wish I could afford it mate
+1 me neither.. and this is a very good price!
  15.
She has a decent enough voice to make it on her own.
+1 very unusual voice.. Would much rather see her play than Morrisey, who's the most over-rated artist of the last 40 years IMO!
  16.
It should also be noted that this amp comes with free giant for obscene rig constructions.
17. Wow!! One of the highest priced basses I've ever seen in this For Sale forum - which is not surprising given what it is - and it's an amazing looking bass! Good luck with the sale..
  18. +1 I have one of these (1998) and it's really good..and though it's not as diverse sounding as my Roscoe Beck V, it does nail that 'jazz bass' tone to a tee! This looks like a particularly good one and the colour is quite unusual too.. Good luck with the sale!
  19.
Got dry stone wall envy now, awww.
+1 Nice looking bass Peter! Are you going to put a string tree on it?
  20.
You don't really want the screwdriver to slip when you're installing a new volume knob on 3 grands worth of unobtanium oil finished Nicaraguan Mojo wood.
If we could produce them or find them somewhere, I think the stats would show that the percentage of players who use plectrums is about the same in terms of whether they play stock, off-the-shelf basses or custom build basses.. Though I do think that Rob may be onto something with his OP.. and maybe there's a secret bass society consisting of mainly jazzers & slappers who own at least 5 custom built coffee table basses each, that are stored in vacuum-sealed impregnable vaults inside houses built in specially designated 'plectrum free zones'..
