1. Those are just fabulous looking basses!! Can't afford one myself at the moment but just wanted to BUMP them up as they deserve it..
 2.
Having owned a WT series Eden, and now an RS700 Nemesis... I would describe the 'flat' (no eq) sound to be quite similar, i.e clean, clear and slightly scooped.
Thanks; that's a real help... good to have a direct comparison made etc, etc..
 3.
Does this sound like a proper Eden head?
That's a good question and a difficult one to answer.. The Nemesis e.q architecture (to borrow their very highbrow phrase) is very similar to all Eden heads, though there are 2 distinct differences IMO: 1) the NA650 is a solid state amp so it uses a solid state bit of trickery to emulate the valve pre-amp design / sound that lots of the other World Touring series Eden heads have. It does it well - a bit like Gallien Krueger's 'boost and G.I.V.E. technology - but it is definitely not a 'valve' sound. 2) the semi-parametric e.q. on the NA650 is good but nowhere near as flexible as the World Touring series Eden heads Hope that helps to answer your question in part but come back to me if not!
 4. BUMP! Last couple of days before the auction ends on Evil Bay. Though would much rather see it go to a fellow BC member if possible...
 5.
It sounds pretty much like a Jazz but a bit beefier. You can add a huge amount of low end or top end sheen with the Aguilar or you can just go passive by pulling the volume pot. You can get an approximation of a P-bass too by messing around with the coil taps. All in all, it's quite versatile but I've a Bongo 5HH and a Carvin 5er. Any interest? Cheers, John.
Thanks.. I've always fancied a Valenti to be honest, more than a Sadowsky for example, and this is only the 2nd (or maybe 3rd) 5 string I've seen on Basschat which makes it quite unique! However, having just upgraded my rig, I can't spend money on more basses and the only two 5 string basses I have are both Jazzes, so that kind of rules me out of the equation when it comes to trades.. So best I can do is say 'lovely bass' and give you a free BUMP!
 6. Saw this amp the other night up at Jay's place and it looks the business.. This is a real bargain at this price!
 7. Looks like a great bass with excellent electronics! Looking at the Talkbass forums, Valenti has a pretty good reputation too.. But what does it actually sound like?
 8.
Cheers Nik, It was good to meet you last night... That Jazz bass of yours sounds 'bloomin lurvly guvna'!!
Cheers.. As did your Status which really surprised me....
 9.
Nik was over yesterday and is now the lucky owner of my Eden Metro (Have I done the right thing??????) combo and extension cab. Nik's a great chap to deal with kept me informed all the way!! Good man! Jay
Thanks Jay!!
 10.
how would it sound in a metal band? i'm looking for something fairly punchy/growly, or is it sort of neutral sounding like a markbass?
That's a good question! Being a sad old git, I'm not in a metal band but we do Jump by Van Halen, a Killers track and a Hendrix track and the amp always sounds very punchy - though it depends on the type of bass you use as well.. But this amp has good definition and flexibility with mid frequencies, and you can dial in some valve emulation as well.. so should be fine.. Hope that helps!
 11. Just been up to the wilds of Essex this evening to meet Jay and, in exchange for giving him lots of pieces of paper with pictures of the Queen on them, he has given me his Eden Metro & Eden 210 rig which sounds absolutely fantastic! The cup of tea & chat was very nice too... Got to say that Jay was a pleasure to deal with and I'd happily do business with him again! Thanks a lot Jay!
 12. That's a bargain!!
 13.
good god, these are some of the finest collection of basses ive seen hear on BC, this side of CK's instruments
+1
 14. Very nice I would imagine... But best not go down that road, Mert.. T'will all end in tears I say!!
 15.
I owned a Status 2000 which was all graphite and have played several Stealth 1s. I've played dozens of various Statii over the years and have never yet found one that works for me. One thing I will add is that the syntheticness I mention isn't just the clackiness, it's everything about the sound. If you dial in a smooth round sounds it still sounds synthetic to my ears.
I got a chance to have a go on Crez's Status this evening and I was really impressed by the sound of it! Wasn't comfortable with the feel of the graphite neck still, but tonally, it was possible to use the onboard e.q. to get a very wide range of sounds, including some of those 'old skool' tones (for want of a better expression) that tend to suit an old luddite like me. So, I must confess to having had my expectations very nicely challenged....!!
 16.
PM'd ya silverfox
And replied!!
 17. Now on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=150360091980 I've listed it at a slightly higher BIN price and without the 2U case, but this offer of £300 inc the SKB case still stands to any Basschatters interested...
 18.
I played my TF at three gigs this week - it does 'deep'. That's why I bought it to replace a fretless Jazz which was lovely and sounded great but didn't do 'deep' in the way I was looking for. It's fretless Fender heaven around here at the moment.
FWIW, I remember hearing Dave's TF at a gig in May and it sounded absolutely glorious, so I assume Legion's will do too...
 19.
Upright bass players of the 1960's had the same attitude about bass guitars (with wooden necks).
I accept that I am a total luddite, though in a bizarre Victor Meldrew kind of way, I find that quite comforting...
 20.
Hey Rich..Ha ha not too many..2 have gone...I dont really want loads of instruments,im just trying to wittle it down to basses that i cant find any faults in and i adore playing..The Fender CS being one and the Sei being the other. The stingray is pretty awsome too...I will eventually sell or trade off the others as i only need basses for the music im doing... I cant help but want a Ken Smith or a Celinder mind..
+1 One of the best quotes ever on Basschat.. sums up the bassist's eternal dilema!
 21.
While you were working all that out I got an electric drill and a jig saw and substantially reduced the weight of several of my basses.

I love this forum
+1
