1.
Some interest but nothing concrete so this is still available
I can't believe this is still here??? I'm not a 6 string player, but this is really something special for the money... Good luck with the sale!
2. Really enjoyed this thread - proves you're never too old to learn.. Some great players I've never heard of but I think that Paul Jackson clip with the drummer was unbelievable!
3.
PM`D
And replied...
4. Had a couple of PMs regarding the measurements, so these are the external measurements of the case: 49cm x 20cm x 51 cm or 19.5" x 8" x 20.25"
5.
I sooooo miss that baby and would have it back had I not taken the decision a year ago that I would bever use FX again. Yes, the compressor is overkill, but it is such glorious overkill! The funk sounds that I could get out of this unit were incredible making it more of a bass synth than an FX unit. Bootsy eat ya heart out This is a stupid price (I think less than you paid me Nik and that was a stupid price), and it's a very rare piece of kit so well worth a speculative punt. Chris PS goes without saying that Nik is an awesome guy to deal with
Thanks for the kind words Chris! Yes, 'more of a bass synth' sums it up well and it does give a good Bootsy/P-Funk impression! It's a very versatile piece of kit for not too much money as you say... Hope all's well with you; how are you getting along with that lovely fretless Wal by the way? Nik
6. Thanks - they're very nice indeed! The middle one now belongs to The Beedster, I do believe...
7. Hi Folks, I bought this Nomad Bassman 19" 1U FX unit from the Beedster last year in the hope of rekindling my love/hate relationship with all things bass from the 80s, but sadly it wasn't meant to be!! The Nomad seems to be quite a rare piece of kit and I've looked around on Ebay and Harmony Central amongst other places for more info on the company or the unit itself, but I just can't find a thing about either. Here's some pictures of it in my rack unit which is also for sale HERE, though obviously, the amp is not for sale: It's pretty versatile, with an excellent Chorus sound, pretty good Octaver, an okay Flanger and a very good Compressor, though it's not subtle! The effects can be used independently or in any combination of the four. Soundwise, using all 4 effects together is just a bit too processed sounding for me, but using the Compressor and the Octaver together can give you some great P-Funk sounds! Anyway, I'm looking for around £45 + p&p. Am happy to post or it can be collected and tried out first for anyone who's nearby.. Thanks for looking and, any questions, please just ask! Nik
8. SOLD! Hi Folks Just bought a 2U rackcase for my Eden head, so this 4U rackcase is no longer needed so I thought I'd offer it for sale here for £20 + p&p. It's in relatively good condition and all the clips work fine and it's built like the proverbial brick!! Here are some pics: And here's a photo of it with my amp in it (which obviously, is not for sale): Am happy to post it, though I'm not sure what that'd be, but my guess is around £5-6. Collection is fine too of course, though then you'd have to listen to me waffle on about basses and be forced to have tea & biscuits! Thanks for looking, Nik
9. **** NOW SOLD **** Hi Folks, I bought this VT1-Purist Bass pedal of ahpook a couple of months ago for £65 (inc delivery) to add some valvey goodness and warmth to my Eden Nemesis driven sound, but I'm just not using it. I tried it at a couple of gigs and it really does make the sound warmer and richer, with some of those 'overtones' that you can only get from a valve, but the band prefer the sound I get without it, though that's more of a reflection on the kind of band we are and the music we play than the pedal I think. Here's some links to the DHA website and the DHA thread on Basschat which have more info about DHA products etc, though I don't think Dave makes this particular model anymore. Nevertheless, his site and the thread give the background on what his equipment is all about in terms of quality, sounds etc: http://www.davehallamps.co.uk/Index.html http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showforum=42 Here's a picture of the Pedal that ahpook took, so I hope he doesn't mind me using it: Anyway, the bottom line is there's no point keeping it if I'm not using it, so I thought I'd offer it up here for about £60 inc delivery and see if anyone's interested. Not looking for any trades in particular but have been told an Aphex Bass Exciter would be good to use with my Roscoe Beck V string, so that could be interesting?? Thanks for looking, Nik
10. Lovely looking bass Peter! Must admit that I've always fancied one of the L2500s myself and these pictures of yours are fuelling that GAS! I had the opportunity to play a L2500 Tribute series alongside a USA model at the SE Bass Bash 2 years ago and the difference was minimal as far as I could tell.. Very good value basses IMO.
11.
Lots of good advice already. I've spent the last four years playing in a covers band around Kent, Sussex and very occasionally London. It's been a lot of hard work, but largely good fun. We mainly play weddings, corporate dos, masons gigs etc but also a few pub gigs. It takes a long time to build a decent setlist and a fair bit of investment in gear (e.g. PA etc if you haven't already got one) and organising gigs etc can also be time consuming. You may also have to play a few tunes that you personally loathe. On the plus side you may get to make some good mates, a bit of money and you will probably improve enormously as a player. In my experience it's very rare to be treated badly, ignored etc, although I may just have been lucky of course. As long as people are responding - i.e. dancing, singing etc - then it's a good way to spend a Friday/Saturday night. You get the occasional lame gig, but you learn to not take it too personaly and it can be a useful learning tool. I spent far too many years playing in hopeless original bands and indulging the egos of various singer songwriters and regret not having got involved in a covers band earlier. Good luck and go for it. Just keep the originals project going if you can as it's a nice counterbalance to then covers world.
+1 Some excellent advice here, especially OG's 'Rough Guide To..' Basschat at it's finest!
12. My BC Rich Eagle has with two P pups which are exactly the same, i.e Dimarzios and it sounds great! That's very interesting looking bass by the way...
13. Just bought a great little SKB 2U rack case from Ray, which arrived perfectly, on time and was even better than described! Whole thing went through quickly and smoothly, so thanks for that Ray! Very happy to recommend you on to other Basschatters as one of the good guys around here to do business with.. Nik
14.
Nice guy to do business with!
Thanks Ray - much appreciate the kind words which are reciprocated! Look forward to the next one!!
15.
Hi Steve Looks good, but I wonder if more info might help people lay down that much cash? Best of luck Gareth
+1 Photos are good though.. Looks like a fine example!
16. Some good suggestions here! +1 on a bit more content about 'music' as opposed to 'gear'. Can't help but think that, whatever improvements, new sections are made etc, unless the standard of interviewing & writing improves it just won't get better. Perhaps there could be a guest reviewer from Basschat writing in BGM every couple of months? Looking at some of the reviews on here, they're just as good.
17.
I met Nik yesterday over a coffee and sold him my Peavey T-40. I've known Nik for a long time on the forum and its predecesser and always thought that he was a great bloke. Yesterday confirmed that! Peter
Many thanks Peter - the feeling is mutual! Look forward to the next purchase/sale/chat etc...
18. Have to agree - that is a gorgeous bass! Good luck with the sale...
