    Hi Folks Throughout all the time I've been on Basschat, which is 14 years now, I'd lived in West Sussex, where I've had some great times playing in bands/venues across the local Sussex music scene. As well as getting to know a lot of great musicians locally (including a fair number of Basschaters), I'd also gained a good knowledge of the venues, festivals, open nights, shops, luthiers etc that make up the Sussex musical world.. But very recently, I've moved to Central East Bedfordshire, which is quite close to the Cambridgeshire, Essex and Hertfordshire borders, so I've kind of got to start all over again as it were. Which is where I'm hoping that what I often refer to as 'Basschat-Apedia' might come in so I can get a bit of a head start as to what's on, who's who and where to go so I can start 'A New Music Career In A New Town' (sorry - couldn't resist the opportunity for a shameless Bowie pun 😁). In terms of specifics, I'm in a town called Potton which is about 4 miles from Biggleswade and 10 miles east of Bedford. London is about 40 miles south of here down the A1 and Cambridge is half an hour away heading slightly North East.. Am really keen to hear about good live music venues, local rehearsal spaces, good luthiers and music shops...     Great looking website @Phil Mann and I've really enjoyed the YouTube videos I've watched so far. Really liked the one with Chris Difford and Boo Hewerdine as I rate their songwriting so highly.. Thanks and best of luck with it all.. 👍😊

    Wow - I'm surprised that this is still here! Always fancied one of these myself but I have too many basses for my needs as it is. I tried one out at Bass Direct a couple of years ago but bought a MIJ P Bass instead... Looking back, it was probably the wrong decision.. 😁 Anyway, GLWTS on this one - it looks like a beautiful example! 😊

    Thanks Jack, I was very sad to have to leave to be honest.. The band was also doing a lot of songwriting during the lockdowns, so I think their plan is to mix it up a bit with some original tunes alongside the covers..

    Hi Folks, Due to a recent house move, I've had to leave a really great band called Mercury Moon that I've been playing in for the last couple of years... The kind of music they play is listed in the header above but just to say over and above that, they're great people; very talented and into what they're doing, which is enjoying making music with a chilled out and friendly vibe. Based in West Sussex, the band is very keen to find a new bass player for rehearsing, gigging and recording as soon as possible so I thought that there might be a few Basschatters on here who'd be interested in the opportunity, hence this post.     I can remember a time on Basschat when a gorgeous looking Lakland DJ5 like this one would be sold within hours of it being posted.. Such was the demand for these then, this one and the other excellent one that @lowregisterheadis selling, would have both gone in a couple of days. How times have changed! I had one of these for a few years about 10 years ago and I still think they're the best looking, best sounding and best playing of all the Fender Jazz 5 string clones that came onto the market over the last 10-15 years. Oh, and the low B string definition is superb too.. GLWTS 👍😊

    +1 That was such a great listen - Geldof is one of those rare individuals who draws you in as a storyteller, but when he's finished speaking you realise he's really a great teacher... Thanks to the OP for this thread, I'm really looking forward to listening to more of these podcasts! 👍

    What a wonderful story, Shelly and congrats on your 10th anniversary! 😊 I still remember the time you came to your first South East Bass Bash, which I'm guessing must have been 2011.. I think you spent ages grooving away in the Jam Room with @StevieG, drummer Paul from @Happy Jacks band The Junkyard Dogs and Nigel, aka @xilddx.. Probably where you met Colin too? Happy days... And as has been said already, here's to the next 10! 😊

    Got to echo everything that @Reggaebasshas said about Colin, aka @moley6knipe..     Now that's what you call a 'head-turner'! 👍 And you can rest assured that the bass line for 'I Predict A Riot' will have been played properly on it a fair few times at least .. ... unlike my efforts where I've murdered that bassline numerous times at The ol' Dog 'n' Duck late on a Saturday night! 😬😁 GLWTS 😊
