+1. Certainly good value for money even though a few of the presets are a bit, well... crap I think describes it best. Once you get into playing around with the settings though, there's some really useful stuff on there, and the control pedal just doubles its usefulness. As long as you're not expecting it to sound like a high end processor, you won't be disappointed. Andy
Definitely agree with all of that! When I first started playing bass 30 years ago, having something like this unit would have been an absolute dream.. I know there's lots of other great pieces of kit out there, but this is brilliant for the money; in fact, I managed to pick mine up on Basstalk for £45!
  2.
bump
+1 on that! Thought I'd bump this topic back to the top so we don't lose sight of it! I'm still interested in doing this if anyone else is?? Nik
  3. Two lovely basses Peter! Must be helping you to get over the bitter pill of having had to clearout some of your basses recently! Nik
  4. From a tax point of view, there is an offical definition of a 'vintage car' which I think is either 25 or 30 years old. And there's also a definition of a 'classic' car which is approx 20 years old I think, so maybe that gives us a guide for using with basses? When I imported a 25 year old Wal from the States in 2004, I convinced the VAT people that the bass was 'vintage' and they reduced the VAT I had to pay on it from 17.5% to 5%!! ^_^
  5.
yep as above, when i worked in a guitar shop the luthier always used cascamite and made a roux with wood powder so you couldnt see the repair, but the way, how ya doing nik ?
"I use Titebond 1 for all my guitar repairs/building." Hi Nig, Paul_c Thanks for the replies, Well today I'm going to buy the glue and then will do the repair tomorrow. I'm officially CRAP at DIY, so this is probably not a good idea but I'm foolishly feeling quite confident?? I'm good Nig - how about you? Still haven't got back to you about the L2500 have I, sorry! It's out of reach for me at the moment unfortunately but that may change soon... Nik
  6.
MB1. Have just recently fixed a tanglewood acoustic guitar, the top had completely snapped off, tuners and all right across the thin part of the neck.i used hard as nails to repair this, tied and weighted the repair and left it for 24 hours.i then drilled and cross pinned the repair sunk the pin heads and filled the holes with wood filler.light sanding and staining. repair is 100% guitar stays in tune job done! hard as nails in the tube works! MB1.
"I might be a bit out of touch, but Cascamite was what my Dad (and woodwork teacher at school) were always pushing - and it looks like it's still available..." Cheers guys - will check them both out! Nik
  7. Hi Folks, I've got an old Hondo Ricky copy thatI've had since 1977 - it was my 2nd ever bass and did a great job for me until I bought the real thing in 1980. Anyway, it's not in the best of condition, so I've decided to repair it to at least good working order because I'm feeling a bit sentimental about it (must be getting old!!). Luckily, I've just bought some parts from robocorpse here on Basschat which is great for getting the tuners sorted out and the electrics but there's a problem with the neck which needs gluing right at the point where it joins the body...And, without getting that repair right, I'll never get it back to being playable... ..So, has anyone got advice on how best to repair a neck and what would be the strongest / best wood glue for the job? Thanks Nik

    Zoom B2.1u
On the face of it this unit almost looks too good to be true. A multi-effects, amp modeling, tuner, DI box, recording unit for just £85? I've not had the opportunity to try one out and I wondered if anyone here has got one or tried one? I'd be interested in your comments. It doesn't need to be top end pro quality, just good enough to do a job in a pub rock band. Many thanks, Elom
Hi Elom It's definitely good enough to do a job in a pub rock band and I agree with you that it 'almost looks too good to be true'! I had a B2 for a while and then wanted to make use of the control facility with certain effects, so have just bought a B2.1u which on first testing, I think is even better than the B2 for value and for the range of features it has. I don't think you'll be disappointed, quite the opposite in fact! Nik
  9. Hi Pete, Thought I'd get a feedback thread going for you and thanks for the Rickenfaker parts which arrived yesterday. They're just perfect for what I need to resurrect my old Hondo Ricky copy that I've had since 1977! For anyone who's dealing with or thinking of dealing with Pete, I can vouch for his attention to detail, quick response to messages etc and general good nature! Thanks mate, Nik
  10.
Calm down people. We have had 40 or so express an interest that means 30 will turn up. We still need a venue thats big enough for 30 people + 30 bass rigs + 30 basses (or probably more cos some greedy barstuards have got more than one(people or basses or rigs)). Plus enough A/C power for all the above, plus pedal boards for those that use them. All options are still open so please try and find a venue.
On that basis, I reckon it's back to ACM or a school or university hall perhaps??

    My kids

Great collection Rich! But I especially love the look of your Wal! Must get together at a Basschat Bash one day and compare Wals - has yours got all the original electronics? Nik
  13.
We are not going to be able to pick a date to suit everyone. For example I am abroad for first 12 days of September. Also there will possibly be another national bash in mid/late September so we need to avoid clashing with that.
So, who's free on Boxing Day then and wants a chance to get away fron the in-laws!
  14.
Not the bank holiday, clashes with Reading Festival!
Good point - how about the following weekend then, early September? Gets Reading and the Bank Hols out of the way and it's just before kids go back to school..
  15. To get this thing moving, we only need to do two things: 1) Set a date 2) Decide on a location So to start us off, I suggest: 1) Sat 25th or Sun 26th August - because it gives us 3 months to organise it and it's a bank holiday so we'd have an extra day to recover! 2) Water Rats Rehearsal Studios in Surrey - went to something there before and it was OK but we'd probably need 2 rooms... Here's a link: http://www.waterrat.co.uk/?gclid=CI6M7LuYlowCFRooEAodfR83eA Well that's my 2p worth... Nik
  16.
Over the past 18 months a number of people have posted some really nice commenst in my feedback thread. It will be such a shame to lose these. I have retrieved these from BT and would like to put them into a consolidated comment post unless anyone has any objections, or indeed wants to post again.
Good idea Dave - I'm thinking of doing the same thing myself... Nik
  17.
Folks, this is just great. Thanks all involved for your efforts - I am sure I speak for everyone. If I can help at all, just shout up. So, when do we start using this one properly, instead of BT? Cheers Chris
+1 on that Chris, Thanks for the welcome, but really it's us who should be thanking you guys! Looking forward to good times ahead from hereonin, Nik
  18.
Just wanna put a big shout out to Phatmonkey, Crazykiwi and Ped. Ben (phatmonkey) is currently doing exams, CK is busy with work and Ped is busy being a bum and STILL they have managed to get this place up and running. Its these three guys and their round the clock work that have got us here. Basschat belongs to its users now, and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it. Thanks guys. Your hard work has not gone unnoticed. Garry
+1 on that - thanks Folks! Nik
