  1. I've got some very fond memories of owning one of these amps, which I bought when I started playing bass again after a 12 break. Very loud 'old skool' watts if I recall correctly, and the two separate channels were really handy for setting up eq for a 4 string and a 5 string bass set up that I used for gigging. GLWTS
  2. Fabulous! GLWTS
  3. How is it possible that such a stunning looking MIJ P bass, being sold by one of Basschat's finest, is still here? 🤔 I'm not even in the market for another bass, and I keep looking at this pretty much every day... mind you, that's GAS for you I suppose. 😁 GLWTS @Clarky (I guess the upside is that you still get to play it whilst it hasn't sold)
  4. Yes, it's 3U. That's 3U of finest quality German built amplification though! 😁
  5. Couldn't agree with you more on this @claustra The quality and versatility of an amp like this is second to none! Still can't quite believe it hasn't sold yet tbh.. 🤔🙄
  6. All joking aside, the P Bass is almost the perfect example of simple, elegant design at its best... And this is a beautiful version of Leo Fender's work !
  7. Beautiful in its simplicity! GLWTS 😊
  8. Had the pleasure of spending a socially distanced couple of hours with Chris yesterday and it was an absolute pleasure! As always happens on these occasions, I'm still buzzing about the conversation we had ! I've never heard or seen Chris play the bass in all the time I've known him, and I suspect he's pretty damn good at it! But one think I can be absolutely sure of is that Chris is a born educator. In amongst his love of music, his expertise about the tools of making music and his all round top blokeness, there's also this amazing wisdom and knowledge about so many things that happy to share... Such as his story about the Scorsese film 'The Last Waltz', which I'm about to check out today after Chris told me about Neil Young's performance of 'Helpless' in it... Btw; Chris, as I said, KD Lang has been covering that song and others from NY's back catalogue for years.. Check out her album 'Hymns from the 49th Parallel'. And thanks for all the other pearls of wisdom and golden nuggets of info too - my head's still exploding from what you said about neural pathways and homeostasis!! 😳 Absolute light bulb moments. 💡😁 Ooh, and lest I forget - what can I say about the V12 that hasn't already been said other than that it's freakin' awesome!! Thanks for selling it to me, it's beyond my expectations already.😊 For anyone on here who's not yet had the pleasure of dealing with Chris on something bass-related, all I can say is that you'll really appreciate it when (and if) you do as he is a bit of a Basschat legend for very, very good reasons! 👍 Thanks again mate, and here's to the next time! 😊 Nik
  9. Ah, Chris - it was an absolute pleasure - I'm still buzzing about the conversation! Looking forward to watching the whole film now and thanks for sharing that clip.. An amazing performance by Neil Young! As I said, KD Lang has been covering that song and others from NY's back catalogue for years.. Check out her album 'Hymns from the 49th Parallel'. Ooh, and lest I forget - what can I say about the V12 that hasn't already been said other than that it's freakin' awesome!! Thanks again mate, and here's to the next time! 😊 Nik
  10. Amazing to see... I feel a bit like I do walking around the Tate or the National Portrait Gallery - admiring of something of value thats beautiful, historic but sadly, way out of my league! GLWTS 👍😊
  11. Not wanting to lower the tone of this rather lovely for sale thread, but are you sure you wouldn't want to rephrase that @Chris Horton...? 😬🤭😁 I shall now get my coat and exit quietly stage left....
  12. Don't see these around too often... I had one years ago and always liked it in live gig situations! GLWTS
  13. That's a real beauty of a bass @Clarky! GLWTS
  14. That's a beautiful and really distinctive looking bass! GLWTS 😊
  15. Wow... Someone's wet dream, right there! GLWTS 👍😊
  16. Hello @marcblum Your post has really made me smile this morning ... 😊 Sounds like you are having an internal conversation with yourself, or maybe, with your therapist who is a specialist dealing with bass players that suffer endless trauma caused by GAS and for sale forums like this one here on Basschat! 😬 Whatever happens, good luck with it! My sessions are still ongoing with my therapist... 😁😂 Nik
  17. Hi again @Harlan Just had it confirmed from the owner that the bass is still for sale. Just let me know if you'd like any further information about it.. Cheers Nik
  18. The only info I can find online is an old Talkbass thread that says it's a bolt-on neck.
  19. @Harlan Yes, as far as i know, it's still available. Just to sure though, I'll double check and get back to you...
  20. I've always liked the pick ups in the Yamaha basses; it was just the slightly narrower string spacing that wasn't right for me.. But in every other respect, I thought the bass was excellent! The bridge on it is really good too - definitely adds to the tone and sustain..
  21. I was lucky enough to have a play of this bass recently and it's an absolute cracker! Typical Yamaha quality and it looks pretty cool IMHO. More importantly, it sounds great and plays great too! Those pick ups are really good punchy sounding. It really is a lot of bass for the money... Plus Andrew / @Misowaki, is a good guy to deal with, which always helps.. Have a BUMP on me and GLWTS 😊
  22. Ah, my old amp! 😊 I bought on here from @dougal I believe back in 2009/10.. Finally sold it to John two years ago.. I did many, many gigs with it and still miss it! We were partners in crime (or was it time??). Anyway, truth be told, I missed it so much I went out and bought another one about a year later which I still have. These are high quality amps with loads of great features, plenty of power, great e.q. and to my ears at least, they just sounds good right from the get go! Can't recommend this amp - or @warwickhunt for that matter - highly enough! GLWTS 👍😊
