  1. Rare as hens teeth these and stupidly loud.. Serious amount of 'heft' too. Will it run at 2 ohms?
  2. Not sure to be honest @jrixn1 I failed my GCSE in Bass Guitar FX pedals sadly.. Think my report that year said something like ' passive bass, root and fifth note plodder...will be a miracle if he ever masters how to use a Boss tuner'... 😁 But thanks for that suggestion! 😊
  3. Now SOLD elsewhere. Hi Folks Here for sale is a custom built A/B pedal /stomp box that I bought on Basschat over 5 years ago when I used to gig a lot and used 3 basses every night! Well those days are long gone sadly and this very simple but effective piece of kit is just taking up space in my gig bag not doing much. So, it's up for sale for £SOLD to anyone here who might be able to make good use of it.. It's quite similar in terms of its features to the MXR A/B box (see photos) which retails at around £65... Happy to post it at buyers expense but happy also for collection if you're local to Littlehampton.. Kettle is always on and there are still a few biscuits left in the jar - so all's good! Any questions, please ask away here or send me a PM. Thanks for looking.. 😊 Nik
  4. Very surprised this is still here! Classic, quality amp with so many excellent features, great price and very good seller.. What's not to like?? GLWTS 😊
  5. Thanks Mick, It's a great little combo and really surprised me when I got it - very full sounding, easy to use and extremely loud for its size.. The reason I've priced it as at £80 is because its a bit tatty cosmetically and could do with a little bit of tlc really.. Especially when compared to the one Geoff has just sold, which looked almost like new!
  6. SOLD elsewhere. Hi Folks Having a bit of a clear out at the moment and realised that I'm not using this rather brilliant Gibson 'The Edge' Comfort Guitar Strap since I sold my Gibson basses.. So it's up for sale and I'm looking for £SOLD including postage. These seem to retail at over £100, so I think this is priced quite fairly. This is what Gibson have to say about it: Gibson's 'The Edge' is a top quality leather Guitar strap with half an inch of Memory Foam padding for ultimate comfort. The saddlery buckle together with the detailed decorative stitching give 'the Edge' a really Texas cowboy look! Adjustable between 48" and 60" And here are some online links to it for more info: https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/gibson-edge-comfort-guitar-strap?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2K3rBRDiARIsAOFSW_5_kPQ6wgLOK7jI40OKxPeuMaQxrblxR-hmqId1rpGKjP2PsfokGScaAkeYEALw_wcB https://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-dept/bass-guitar-strings-accessories/guitar-straps/gibson-leather-electric-comfort-the-edge-strap-black I've not really used it much to be honest and it's in excellent condition. If you'd like any more info, please ask away here or send me a PM. Thanks for looking as ever! 😊 Nik
  7. Had the pleasure of spending a few hours in @Linus27 a.k.a. Michael's company today discussing all things bass.. After swapping notes on bass playing styles, gear preferences - including much discussion on Jazz basses and maple vs rosewood necks - gigging in covers bands and the joys or not of being in signed bands (albeit a fair few years ago), I somehow managed to leave with a fabulous sounding new rig, namely a Hartke HA5500 and an Epifani 310 cab! As if that wasn't excitement enough, Michael played me some tracks of his old band 'Inter' and they were absolutely brilliant ; great songs with some fantastic melodic bass lines.. It was a real treat! Michael is a great person to deal with, very knowledgeable about music and bass stuff and he is a fine, fine player and a talented musician. Definitely one of Basschat's good guys.. IMHO, you can buy & sell with Michael in absolute confidence Folks and if you've got a few hours to spare, then you won't regret spending them like I did today, enjoying being a bass player and a Basschat forum member. Thanks again Michael and hope to see you at the South East Bass Bash in October if you can make it. Nik 😊
  8. Yamaha BBT 500 Class D, lightweight, bass amp - Now SOLD. I'm looking for £SOLD plus p&p (or very near offer). This is a really nice compact bass amp head made by Yamaha in the early noughties that is absolutely packed with really useful features. I've had it for a few years now and it's been great for rehearsals, small gigs and I've even used it as a very easy small and light spare amp at bigger gigs when I take out my Ampeg rig. Like much of Yamaha musical equipment, it's well designed, innovative and easy to use, for example ; The compressor on this thing is really, really good, the changeable centre frequencies of the eq are really handy, as are the 5 memory switches to save your sound! And there's a host of other cool features too (see below), including the fact that it will run at 2 ohms quite safely. Here's what Yamaha have to say about the BBT500 : "The Yamaha BBT 500H bass amp delivers five hundred punchy class-D watts, yet it weighs only ten and a half anti-gravity pounds. Select from eleven of your favorite bass amp sounds, dial up the programmable parametric EQ and compressor, and store your favorite combinations to five front panel presets. Add to that a noise gate, parallel effects loop, Speaker simulator, MIDI capability, variable crossover, headphone and tuner outs, and more, and you've got one heavy package – figuratively speaking." And here's a link to the manual: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/341040/Yamaha-Bbt500h.html As can be seen in the photos, I've got a pair of 1 x 12" JBL cabs with Eminence drivers in them that match really well with this amp and whilst they're not the most aesthetically pleasing bass cabs out there, they combine nicely with the BBT500 to make a very lightweight and modular rig for rehearsals and small gigs.. As I really need to clear some space at home, I would be happy to do a really good deal for the amp and cabs together if anyone's interested - £140 all in.. Just a thought. I'm based in Littlehampton, West Sussex and am happy for anyone who's interested to come and try out the amp and cabs - please send me a PM to arrange. Equally, I am happy to send by insured courier at buyers expense if that's the only way to get a deal done! Any questions, please ask here or message me.. Thanks for looking as ever. 😊 Nik P. S. 9. Ashdown Mag C115-300 1x15 bass combo - SOLD elsewhere. I'm looking for £SOLD or near offer please. This is one of the early and more sought after 'made in England models' and whilst its not in the prettiest external condition, it has a great tone and is very punchy and loud, so is perfect for rehearsals and small pub & club gigs, which is what I've used it for since I bought it locally 6 months ago. The trademark Ashdown VU meter does work, as does everything else, though a couple of the pots are a bit scratchy and could do with a good clean.. The e.q. is very easy to use and offers plenty of scope for shaping your tone and the sub-octave feature offers a subtle but useful extra tonal feature.. As can be seen in the photos, the switch for the sub-octave function is missing but this does not affect usage. I have kept it permanently switched in and used the pot to dial in the effect as required.. All in all, its a very good bass combo that has sounded good with every bass I've tried it with, including both 4 and 5 string basses - in fact, it copes really well with the low B string and even more so if you add an additional 8 ohm cab.. Then things get really interesting because this amp has a lot of power for such a small unit!! 😊 I'm only selling because I've recently bought some more amps and have now got too much gear (apparently). Plus it'd be nice to reclaim a bit of space at home so I can get on with the decorating! 😐 But that's a whole other story.. 😁 I'm based in Littlehampton, West Sussex and would be very happy for anyone interested to come and try this out in person.. Alternatively, I could be persuaded to post by insured courier (at buyers expense) if absolutely necessary, but this is quite a heavy combo so I'm not sure it will be easy to package up safely for transit. Anyway, happy to discuss if you're really interested.. If you have any questions, please contact me here or via PM and I'll try to get back to you as quickly as I can. Thanks for looking as ever. 😊 Nik
  10. Hi Folks Encore Fretless P Bass & hard case for sale. £SOLD I bought this Encore Fretless P Bass about 2 years ago for a band I was in at the time that did a few mid 70s Joni Mitchell type songs where the fretless style of playing and fretless sound was a big part of the music.. Unfortunately, the band didn't stay together long and my interest in - and opportunity to play fretless bass - kind of went with it... So, I figure the best thing now is to move it on to someone who can make better use of what is in fact, a surprisingly good bass for relatively little money ! Tonally, it sounds like a P Bass should and the pick up is quite loud and punchy. As you can see in the photos, the bass has been stripped back to a natural wood finish (which has been lightly oiled or varnished) and it's been done very well indeed.. In my opinion, it has really enhanced the look of the instrument. In fact, the quality of the build of this bass is quite surprising given that is a budget brand bass.. In particular, the rosewood fingerboard on this bass is really good and it has a lot of life left in it too.. From looking at the fingerboard, I'm not sure whether or not this was originally a fretted bass that's been very professionally defretted or not, but whatever, it's a very nice piece of wood! I bought it on Gumtree from a chap who said he'd inherited it from his dad who'd quite recently passed away.. Apparently, his dad had owned it for quite a long time and had the modifications done to the body. It could probably do with a decent set up but despite that, it actually plays pretty well. At the moment, it's currently fitted with some flatwound strings on it which sound great. Not sure what brand they are but they remind me of a set of La Bella flats I had fitted on a fretted P Bass a few years ago.. So that's it really; this is a well-made and very usable fretless bass for not too much money and if you're interested and would like to know more, please ask away here or send me a PM. The bass is available to view and test by prior arrangement and I'm located in the Littlehampton, West Sussex area. Collection preferred but I can send by insured courier service at buyer's expense if necessary.. Thanks for looking, as ever ! 😊 Nik
  11. Echoing all the above, I'm pleased to say that Simon is a great guy to deal with, having just bought an excellent Gator Bag from him. The bag itself is exactly as described and it arrived safely packaged up and in great condition... So, deal with Simon in absolute confidence Folks. Thanks Simon - much appreciated! Cheers Nik
  12. I was looking for a Hercules bass stand and David kindly got in touch with me to say he had one he'd be prepared to sell after he saw my ad in the Items Wanted forum.. A quick exchange of PMs and the deal was done and before I could say 'David is an absolute pleasure to deal with', the stand arrived in perfect working order and great condition. So, thanks David for being such a credit to Basschat and for the stand itself (which is great btw) and all the best for now.. Summing up, I'm very happy to recommend @Mottlefeederto one and all here on Basschat as a really good person to deal with! Nik
  13. Beautiful example of a Pro1, and with the original retro cool 70s Wal case too - stunning! 😊 GLWTS
  14. Yep - me too.. Mine had a lovely neck on it as I recall and sounded just like a Jazz bass should.. Looked the business too, just like this one! Anyway, that's enough of my reminiscing.. GLWTS
  15. +1 Amazing sound, great for any kind of band IMHO.. Plus Jon's a great guy to deal with too..
  16. Wonderful, beautifully made and very resonant basses these.. I had one in the early 1990s and it was absolutely stunning! One of those basses I've always regretted selling. Anyway, great to see one here on the forum and GLWTS..
  17. That is a seriously cool looking bass @P-T-P! GLWTS
  18. Great amp @Merton.. Had a couple of Eden rigs in my time and they were superb, especially in the first covers band I was in where we played everything from The Beatles to Bowie to Prince and noughties pop artists.. Brilliant sound straight out of the box, amazingly flexible eq and a lot of that there mythical 'heft' we talk about so much round these parts.. Oh and very portable too! 😊 GLWTS
  19. Had the pleasure of gigging one of these a few years ago and it was absolutely fantastic! GLWTS
  20. ^^ Thanks! Yes, that 70s vibe ticks all the boxes for me and you're right, it really is well made.. I think the body is actually one piece of Ash as well which is something I particularly like.. Since posting this thread, I've now had this bass properly set up (fret dress, new strings etc) and it's playing beautifully; the intonation is spot on and the action is set at a nice comfortable medium height. Mike Bosley (of Mike's Music in Bognor) did a great job on it for me and what's interesting is that he put a small shim in the neck pocket to rake the neck back a little so that the bridge saddles are set at their maximum height. Apparently - so Mike tells me - this is how a lot of players liked their basses set up back in the day but its the first time I've ever had one of mine set up this way. I like the fact that this set up provides a great break angle for the strings over the bridge and it does seem to make a difference.. Could just be of course that I still have that 'new bass syndrome' going on whereby everything about a newly acquired bass seems to be the best of any bass I've had ever had.. You know the thing, right - it's got the best sustain, best tone, best action, best balance blah, blah, blah.. and the ability to create world peace just from playing the opening riff to Stand By Me blah, blah, blah... 😁 But, blow me down with a feather, this one really does seem to 'sing' and the sustain and harmonics are amazing! So, happy days. 😊 Mind you, having said all that (and knowing me), it'll probably be for sale on here in a few weeks time with the obligatory 'Up for sale is my beloved MIJ P Bass... ' opening line. 😁
