    NBD,

    Happy Birthday! Nice bass.. 😊
  6. Sorry to hear that about your situation with your dog and postie! Wow - that's an amazing deal for this bass with a quality hard case too! Can't believe it hadn't sold yet tbh, but surely now, someone will find this too good a deal to ignore?
  7. Slightly off topic I know, but of the different flatwound strings, which would you say are the best for using for with shiny, highly varnished maple fingerboards. Reason for asking is that, when I tried some Chromes a couple of years ago with a Hayman 4040 bass, I found the combination of them with a highly varnished maple fingerboard too much. So I'm curious as to which flats, if any, have a bit more texture to the surface of the actual string? My new P Bass has a similar kind of fretboard so I want to make sure I don't run into the same problem I had previously with the Hayman when I put some flats on this P Bass. Hope that makes some kind of sense and thanks ... 😊
  8. Hi @mark_ir Agree with the above comments too... An ash body for sure and it looks to me like a replacement neck. It's a JG serial number and some of that JG batch of early Wal Pros had the letters 'JG' on the headstock too - hence why I think this is a replacement neck. Having said that, the headstock looks almost like a hybrid of the earlier so-called 'cricket bat' style and the more refine custom model headstock design. Nevertheless it still looks like a good, early example of a Pro IIe, but even then I'd say that its about £1k to £1.5k overpriced, especially in this market. Great basses though - I've had a few of them over the years and I always preferred them to the Custom models. Best of luck with it all.. Nik
  9. Cheers @gareth That could be an added bonus. Will check it out... 😊
  10. Cheers chaps! 😊 @obbm - it's not the lightest of basses Dave being Ash, but it's not the heaviest either. I should weigh it actually.. 🤔 @burno70 - yep, me too. I've a 5 string bass with the same Ash body, black pickguard configuration. @Bassassin - absolutely; it's really well put together..
  11. Cheers @Lozz196 Will be bringing it along to the SE Bash in October if you're going to be there...
  12. Cheers Folks, Been playing it all afternoon and it's great.. 😊 Fabulous tone, sort of thick and woody but if you open the tone control all the way up, it gets much more clanky!
  13. Hi Folks Don't often do this but with this one I thought I must.. So, there I was in my local music shop in Bognor Regis (Mike's Music) buying some strings when I saw this hanging on the wall looking a bit unloved.. Being the kind chap that he is, Mike let me have a trial with the bass and after spending some time with it at home, I realised it was a must have.. As far as I can tell from the serial number, its a Made in Japan 1991/2 Fender Precision. Sounds great, beautiful Ash body and maple neck and is in brilliant condition for a 27 year old bass. Happy days, or should I say, happy NBDs! Thanks for looking.. 😊
  14. Wow, never seen one of these before!! That's a lot of pick up action.. 😊 I used to have a couple of MTD basses back in the day and they were two of the most comfortable 5 string basses to play that I've ever had. Super lightweight too and sounded great.. GLWTS
  15. Hi @lowregisterhead Drummer in my band is looking for something like this. If it's still available, I'm sure he'll be interested. Will check with him and let you know. Cheers Nik
  16. Sorry to hear that @briansbrew, but as you say, someone is going to benefit..
  17. Lovely looking bass @briansbrew! I had an 80s Tokai Jazz Sound bass about 12 years ago and it was superb; better than any Fender Jazz I owned, including a '66 model at one time. I imagine this is cut from the same high quality cloth as my Jazz Sound was, so this must be very good indeed.. GLWTS
  18. Ditto regarding your mum, Chris.. We've had something similar for 3 years now with Mrs Silverfoxnik' mum who had a stroke in 2016. Nik
  19. Love that track Chris, being a Magazine (and Barry Adamson) fan.. Not sure what a Wal-head is though.. 😁
  20. Another beautiful looking instrument, Chris! The fretboard is stunning... GLWTS
  21. Had the pleasure of playing this bass recently and it's absolutely fabulous ; beautifully constructed, lightweight and it plays effortlessly.. As if that isn't enough, it sounds great too - a really balanced output between the two pick ups and has such a sweet tone. And that's just the passive setting.. It does even more when the active circuit is kicked in. And, IMHO, its a bit of a looker too. I know it's a bit of a Basschat cliché, but whoever buys this will not be disappointed! GLWTS Udo 😊
