To go back to the OP, it's a good question.. But its so hard to find just one 'ever there' album. For me, a Top 10 album list for the last 40 years or so would include: Hunky Dory (Bowie) Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars (Bowie) Real Life (Magazine) Hounds of Love (Kate Bush) The Main Event - Live (Frank Sinatra) Ingenue (KD Lang) Fleet Foxes (Fleet Foxes) What's Going On (Marvin Gate) Seldom Seen Kid (Elbow) Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd) These albums get played constantly, but there are so many others that do too.. My guess is there's a top 100 or so albums that have formed the core of my music listening since 1972. And maybe 2 or 3 new ones get added every few years.. Thinking about it, I'm just a boring old git of a bass player who hasn't changed his tastes in music very much for over the past 40 years!! Quite happy though.. ๐

Me at the South East Bass Bash about 5 years ago.. Think I was on happy pills at the time! -
Band I was in at the time supported them on a UK tour back in 1994.. Great musicians and a lot of fun too! Saw Incognito the following year at The Ilford Island.. One of the best live gigs I've ever been to; phenomenal musicianship, great songs and so, so funky.. Happy days โบ๏ธ

Bass is on now SOLD. Hi Folks Here for sale is my 2004 USA made Gibson Thunderbird Bass Guitar & original Gibson Case which is in excellent condition and very good working order. I'm looking for ยฃ735 or very near offer for this classic bass. See attached pictures for more detail about condition. I bought this second-hand, 2 years ago, specifically for using with my last band, which covered a lot of classic rock tunes - anything from AC/DC to Zeppelin to the Foo Fighters - and it was just perfect for it! Plugged in, this is 'super thumpy' and powerful sounding - much more so in fact than the T-Bird Custom that I had for a while that @Billy Apple had made with the '66 Thunderbucker pick ups in it (though that was a great bass too).. Having said that, I've also used this bass in a different band setting playing more groove based, funky stuff, and it was great in that too...just change the balance between the two pick ups, and away you go - it's as funky and punchy as hell! It's also nice and lightweight and very comfortable to play - great for long gigs in fact Designed and built in the USA in 2004, it's a neck-through design with Gibson hardware and electronics and IMO, is very well made .. Have to say that I've read and heard a lot about the bridge design on these being a bit underwhelming, so much so that changing the bridge and tail piece improves tone and sustain etc.. but that's not been my experience of it to be honest - this has more than enough sustain and tone for any kind of music! Here's a link to some blurb for the new models: https://www.gibson.com/Guitar/USAKUC232/Thunderbird-Bass As to why I'm selling, the band I mentioned above folded last December and as a result, this lovely T-Bird is not getting any use at all, so I feel it's best to move it on. So, here are some links to Talkbass and YouTube for further info and a chance to hear these in action. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/for-those-considering-a-gibson-thunderbird.1310836/ https://youtu.be/KtmSY3rr62I https://youtu.be/_XBYKd9y1pU https://youtu.be/UiISSgwLtL4 In terms of price and making a deal, this bass owes my about ยฃ750 and new they're about ยฃ1800, so I hope I've got the price set at a reasonably fair level. I'll also throw in a T-Bird gig bag that I bought especially for this from Thomman which cost me an addition ยฃ27 including postage. (See here: https://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_gigbag1_bass_heavy.htm) On that point, I would be prepared to courier this at buyer's expense if absolutely necessary, but would much rather it was collected in person - either here in Littlehampton, West Sussex where tea & biccies are in ample supply - or at a mutually convenient rendezvous point.. Any other questions, please ask away here or send me a PM. Oh, and just to say please check out my feedback here: Thanks for looking!

Great post! At his creative peak in the 1970s, Stevie Wonder was one of the funkiest men on the planet.. +1 also on the Roxy and Magazine rhythm sections.

What famous musicians death most shocked you
silverfoxnik replied to dmccombe7's topic in General Discussion
+1 As ridiculous as it sounds, the loss of Bowie is something I still haven't yet come to terms with yet, though the reasons why he passed away were not shocking or surprising - he was a lifelong smoker (and user of other substances) after all.. @lou24d53 mentions the words that it was like losing 'a member of the family' which I totally understand, but for me it was more like losing a mentor and a lifelong friend who inspired me throughout my formative years... With Prince though, that came completely out of the blue! Who would have ever thought that someone like him, seemingly in total control of his career and creative life, would have developed such an addiction to pain killing drugs? And also to have passed away without leaving a will? The fact that Bowie and Prince died within a few months of each other made 2016 a pretty terrible year! -

Loads of great pairings mentioned here.. On a personal note, I've always rated Keith Moon and John Entwistle, from you know who.. And, David Brown and Michael Shrieve from the early Abraxas era Santana band. And, Sheila E and Levi Seacer, Jnr from Prince's band circa Sign o' the Times tour. And Dennis Davis and George Murray who played for Bowie in the mid to late 70s..

What a gorgeous example of a late 70s Pro II.. Looks like it might be the Pro IIe as well. And it comes with the original brown Wal case - even better! ๐ In this current economic climate, who knows how fast even rarities like this might take to sell, but you can expect @TrevorR and @cetera along at some point to add their comments I would expect..
