  1. Thanks for the positive comments @danbowskill and @scrumpymike - I can only agree with your wise words.. 😁
  2. Now SOLD - thanks for looking. Hi Folks For Sale only, here is my Hartke LH500 bass amp in very good condition and working order that is housed in a very snug and secure Gator 2U rack case.. Price wise, I'm looking or £SOLD or very near offer for this. I received this in a trade from @WalMan last year at the South East Bash and it's a surprisingly good! I've tried it with a variety of different cabinets; my Ampeg 210, 115 and my recently sold Epifani 310 and it sounded great with all of them.. What's more, it works really well with all the different basses I've tried it with; 4 and 5 strings, active passive etc - it's clean and transparent sounding but has a warmth to it too. The e.q. is simple and effective and it's loud! Loud in that kind of punchy 'old-skool' Trace Elliott kind of way, which I really like. Oh, and it's operationally as quiet as a mouse - you can't even tell when it's switched on it's that quiet! And compared to my old Eden and Hughes & Kettner Class A hybrid amps, which had relatively noisy fans, this is a real treat! Anyway, having said all of that, I honestly haven't had cause to use it apart from a little light use at home when practicing.. That's because of my main gigging band coming to an end last December, plus the fact that when I was gigging regularly, I always used my Ampeg rig.. And now, I have a smaller combo for rehearsals with my new band, which is a more laid back, folky kind of sound. So, it's time to let this go to someone else on here hopefully, who will have need of it! Some pictures attached but please let me know if you'd like to see any more... Viewings and a chance to hear it in action are welcome and in Littlehampton, West Sussex if you're nearby enough to want to do so.. And yes, I'm happy to send by courier (at buyer's expense) if absolutely essential to getting a deal done. Sending by a fully insured courier service is the only way to go with that though, and that always adds a little extra to the cost so please bear that in mind. Any questions, please ask here or send me a PM. Thanks for looking as ever! Nik Here's the Hartke sales blurb about it: The LH500, has a classic 12AX7 Class-A tube front-end design with a solid-state output. Developed with the HyDrive cabs in mind, the LH500 also has more than enough power and tone control to drive any cabinet on the market. This amp provides you with Treble and Bass Shelving to give its warm tone a little edge. Or use the brite and limiter switches to further sculpt your sound. Its intuitive front panel also makes adjustments on the fly a breeze. The LH500 packs a big punch in a portable, roadworthy package. A two-rackspace metal frame chassis, steel faceplate and handles allow for easy, safe transport from gig to gig. With the needs of modern bass players largely centered around volume and versatility, the LH500 is an ideal solution that gives you plenty of options to create the exact sound you're looking for. Features & Tech Spec: 500 watts of power @ 4 ohms Classic 12AX7 High Voltage Class-A tube preamp circuit Bass and Treble Shelving, plus mid-peak EQ controls Selectable brite switch for added high frequency response Selectable limiter switch with LED indicator Front panel XLR balanced direct output Rear panel 1/4-inch effects loop 1/4-inch output connectors Two-rackspace metal chassis with steel faceplate and handles Inputs: 2 x Instrument (Passive, Active) Outputs: 2 x Speaker (1/4") Effects Loop: Yes Height: 3.25" Width: 19" Depth: 14.5" Weight: 23.1 lbs.
  3. Thanks Max, And likewise.. Enjoy the Epifani! 😊 Nik
  4. Yep.. Been down that road before.. Bought a Schecter Diamond P5 on here, sold it 3 years later, then bought it back the following year. Stupidly sold it again last year. I have learned nothing in 13 years of being on this forum! 😊
  5. Hi Folks @Maxillius just bought an Epifani 310 cab from me in what was a very relaxed and easy transaction from start to finish. Max paid when he said he would, maintained great comms throughout and all in all, was a very good person to deal with. So.. I'm more than happy to recommended Max to everyone here on Basschat! Thanks Max - hope you enjoy the cab. 😊 Nik
  6. Not sure how you even deal with that Chris - I struggle switching from bass to 6 string acoustic guitar sometimes! The mandolins that I've seen don't even have what I would call 'string spacing' ; it's more like a few microns gap to allow for air flow in between and around those weird tiny strings, all 8 of them ! 😁
  7. Just received some very shiny Wilkinson tuners in the post from John which are absolutely perfect! As ever, he's a great Basschatter to deal with. A highly respected and valued member of the BC community. Many thanks John 😊

  9. All good thanks Chris.. 😊 I hadn't read that thread before but it makes for very interesting and pertinent reading. For want of a better and slightly mixed up analogy, I for one have spent far too much time over the last 15 years 'driving a Ferrari to the corner shop to pick up a pint of milk' in search of that elusive bass tone.. I often have more fun these days playing a £100 Chinese Squier P Bass copy through a £50 second hand Yamaha amp into a home build 1x12 cab than when I take out the full Ampeg rig and an array of boutique basses.. Yep - there's a lot of food for thought in your phrase about 'technique not technology'.. Anyway, glad to hear there's still some electric bass action at Beedster Towers Chris, and all the best for now, Nik
  10. Fantastic quality bass at an amazing price! I said that last time this was up for sale.. IME, Sandberg 5 string basses are very good to play and have superb electronics. Plus, the B string on the JM5 I had was excellent - crystal clear definition due to the 35"scale and build quality. And @patrikmarky is great guy to deal with too, so what's not to like!? 😊 GLWTS
  11. ^^ Totally agree with this.. I can remember going through a similar phase in the 80s too.. In fact, drummers had the same challenge - if not more so - when drum machines became such a dominant factor in writing, producing and performing music during the same era.
  12. Fab! That's the BC Rich Wave bass if I'm not mistaken.. Same spec though and sounding very funky indeed! 😎
  13. Wow, Chris.. You never cease to amaze me! In a good way, of course.. 😊 Being a musician is a journey and it's great to hear how it's evolved for you, and is doing so for your family too. Seems to me like you are following the right path.. Which in this case means that there's some fabulous Beedster bass gear being made available here on Basschat yet again, and at very generous prices. It all looks fantastic and is very tempting, but I'm still so pleased with the Ampeg V4BH rig you sold me 4 years ago, I have no reason to even consider more amps (or cabs for that matter). So, I'll just wish you GLWTS and hope I catch up with you at some point soon. All the best Nik
  14. @ChunkyMunky - we did that last year in fact.. Ended up being as inconclusive as a series of UK parliamentary indicative votes! Happy to do a Version 2.0 though if there's any interest in the idea..
  15. Great music, fantastic playing and the bass sounds brilliant!
  16. I'm up for this idea @rodfunnell Will have a chat with others involved to see what's possible /doable.. But any ideas or suggestions here would be great too.
  17. Me neither @Shaggy.. Live and learn! That's a great looking Mk1 Custom btw.. GLWTS
  18. Great photos - looks like a really good day! Congrats to the organisers for another successful Bash.. 😊👍
