Agree with you 100%.. And its a beautifully produced album as well IMO. I've always thought that Jeff Buckley had such an absolutely innate musical talent, he could have really been one of the 'rock & roll greats' (for want of a better phrase) had he lived longer and made more records. Sad that we never got a chance to find that out..

Roxy Music never really made it big in the States, despite their success in the rest of the world.

Cheers! It's about 18 years old I think Dave and has acquired that relic'd look naturally.. I've always liked it this way - gives it a more beat up 70s jazz look in my eyes.

I realised after I'd voted for a P/J combination that what I actually use more often than anything else is a P/P combination as can be seen in the attached pic of my BC Rich Eagle. Then I realised that I also have a double humbucker set up on my Gibson Thunderbird, and something similar also on my Roscoe Beck V... So there's complete confirmation that I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about most of the time! 😄

I voted UK, but I really don't like these binary choice only referendums! 😉 Moving swiftly on, I think @chris_b has summed it up pretty well. It's been an iterative process, with music from both sides of the Atlantic inspiring and influencing in equal measure.. Having said that, when Rolling Stone did one of those Top 100 Artists polls a few years back, I seem to recall that The Beatles, Stones and Zeppelin ere in the top 5!

Interesting thread.. Got to say, I'm with @Mykesbass on this one. IMO, there used to be a healthy amount of interaction on For Sale threads that was, more often than not, pretty helpful. Especially if the person selling was someone relatively new to the forum or someone I hadn't had any dealings with before on Basschat, then I always found the way they interacted with and managed posts on their threads a good indication of how they might be if you decided to do a deal with them. Not an exact science I know, but it has worked for me over the years. One thing I think that's contributed to the decline in conversation on For Sale threads has been the introduction of the facility to bump your post without having to say anything new when you do it. You see some stuff that's for sale on here being endlessly bumped without any new comments or info added to the thread by the seller, which I always find quite disappointing and boring and ultimately, a bit of a turn off. For example, imagine going into a shop a few times to look at a a piece of gear you're interested in and mulling over, but everytime you go into the shop the staff don't speak to you. Eventually, you'd just decide to go somewhere else, wouldn't you..

Better to know what works for you and stick to your principles... Sounds to me like the other bands didn't realise how lucky they were to have someone with your experience and knowledge in the band. Their loss I'd say.

Sad news.. 😢 Always loved his voice on songs like 'Montague Terrace', and his choice of artists to cover, like Jacques Brel. RIP.

Agree about the Ninth Wave @jazzmanb But all of what was Side 1 of the original vinyl album release are stunning songs in their own right too.. In fact, 'Hounds of Love' is one of my top 10 songs of all time...

Very eloquently put, Chris. And so true regarding Dylan.. And, yes, if we play electric guitars and keyboards in what you could loosely call a 'rock & roll band', then we're all influenced by a small and very select group of genuine innovators.
