  1. Hi Mike Yes, it is... Is there anything else about it you'd like to know? Cheers Nik
  2. Not yet Mick... Maybe it's the time of year, price or just that these bigger, heavier pieces of kit are becoming less and less in demand - who knows? Anyway, here's a pre weekend BUMP for a quality bass amp from the old school! ☺
  3. It's the same with the Big Block, Chris - it's stupidly loud really, but the upside is that there's lots of headroom!
  4. What a fabulous looking vintage Tokai Jazz this is.. ☺ I owned an '84 CAR L-series one about 10 years ago that I eventually sold onto the Beedster and it was great; better than a '66 Jazz I once had IMHO.. GLWTS
  5. Me too... Great basses, and this is a very fair price for one! GLWTS
  6. Morning All... A Saturday BUMP for this unique NR Thunderbird! I forgot to say in my OP just how beautifully this bass has been set up, so it really does play like a dream.. Any questions, please PM me. Otherwise, thanks for looking. ☺
  7. +1 My thoughts exactly... I've had a couple of Peavey basses over the years and they've been great .. a T-40 in particular.. And this looks like another exceptional quality Peavey design/build.. And a lot of bass for the money too! GLWTS ☺
  8. Now SOLD - thanks for looking! ☺ Hi Folks For sale only, this completely unique Custom Build Non-Reverse Thunderbird bass that I bought here on Basschat 7 months ago from Sean, aka Billy Apple. The bass comes with an excellent quality hard case that I bought from chimike especially for this bass, as it's a bit longer than most standard 34" scale basses. For the bass & case, I'm looking for £575 (or near offer). The history of this bass from when it was first commissioned in 2013 is quite a story in itself; read more about it here: To describe the bass properly and give it it's full due, I hope Sean won't mind me quoting him from his For Sale advert last December: "Completely unique custom built NR Thunderbird. The last of the Bachbird body blanks made from mahogany and a lovely rosewood board. Bach also supplied the two piece bridge. Routed to vintage specs by the Bass Doc, with a hand-made bone nut, vintage white scratch-plate, TRC and control cover. Pups are '66's from Steve at the Thunderbucker Ranch, along with one bevel surround and shim. Tuners are Gotoh Resolite GB528's. Vintage white top-hats with a matte white finish and set-up from John Williams at Noiseworks." I'm only selling this because a chance to buy a very special Roscoe Beck V came up recently (which I couldn't ignore), so I'm selling a few things to recoup that outlay - otherwise, I'd be keeping this because it's totally unique - a one-off - and it sounds amazing and gets so much attention at gigs because it looks so cool! Collection from Littlehampton, West Sussex preferred, but am happy to drive to meet up if it's within a reasonable distance. I could courier it (at your expense) in the right circumstances, but only if it's a fully-insured service.. Otherwise, it's just too risky! Anyway, thanks for looking and if you've any questions about this amazing Thunderbird, please ask away here or PM me. Nik
  9. What a price this is for such a quality amp! I'm amazed this is still here to be honest.. It's a bit of a cliche to say and I know it doesn't help the OP, but if I didn't already have an Ampeg V4BH, then I'd be very interested in this.. Anyway, GLWTS.
  10. Now SOLD - Thanks for your interest. Hi Folks For sale is my Mesa Boogie Big Block 750 amp (rackmount version), which comes with the mute/channel switching footswitch and a 4U rack case with rack draw, power cable and Speakon to Speakon cable. I bought this from Dvisions just before the New Year and have used it for just a handful of gigs in that time. Price is SOLD or near offer and considering these were almost £1700 new when they came out about 10 years ago,and this includes the footswitch and rack case, I think it's a pretty fair price. It's working perfectly and is a very powerful, high quality US built amp with a wide array of tonal options. IMO, the Big Block is capable of delivering volume in spades, with a powerful and easy to use e.q. section (especially the mids) and when needed, a more gritty and overdriven sound if you need it. The Big Block didn't have a footswitch when I bought it so I sourced a Mesa Boogie Lonestar footswitch that does the job of remotely changing channels between clean and overdriven, and also the mute function. It's really handy to have that functionality in a gigging situation... If I've attached the right photos, then you should be able to see the footswitch operating the mute function and the channel switching.. I've also used the photo that Dvisions used in his for sale ad, so i hope he won't mind me doing that.. There's loads of really helpful reviews and stuff on Google, YouTube, Talkbass etc about this amp but suffice to say, if you want to get more info on it, it's definitely out there! Here's a few interesting YouTube links: This is my favourite - this guy is awesome! And though Mesa get associated with Rock music, here's a more funky exponent bigging up Boogie gear : And yet another funky Big Block user: Only selling because I'm using my Ampeg amp & cabs more and our recent house purchase has strained the finances somewhat and will do for the foreseaable... So, because I need to raise funds at the moment I'm not looking for trades at this time, sorry. Viewings welcome if you're near Littlehampton, West Sussex (tea/coffee/biscuits provided). Happy to work something out about travelling if it's within a 50 mile radius.. I've posted large amps before (for an additional cost) and could be persuaded to do so again, but there's always a high risk with that which I'd prefer not to have to do if possible. Thanks for looking and if you need more info, please PM me. I do have a feedback thread too, so please check that out if you don't know me and want to check out my credentials on Basschat.. Cheers Nik
  11. Just bought a Peavey MiniMax head from Matthew in what was a perfect, hassle free transaction. He's a great guy to deal with and a credit to the Basschat community - just as he was when I started this thread for him 11 years ago! OMG - where does the time go.. ? Buying/selling bass gear is the answer I'm guessing... 😁 Thanks Matthew. Nik
  12. Hi Folks Just bought a lovely Roscoe Beck V from Roger, a.k.a. diggerz54, and wanted to leave some feedback for him here to say what an excellent transaction it's been. Roger was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish, the bass in question is absolutely superb and what's more, his packaging is absolutely unbelievable; MBE if not CBE level ! 😁 Not only that, chatting with Roger about the bass, basses and music in general was great - he really knows his stuff! Anyway, as I couldn't find a previous feedback thread for Roger on here, I'm very happy to create this new one for him and to highly recommend him to one and all on Basschat! Many thanks again Roger... ☺ Nik
  13. Completely off topic, but I love your avatar pic, which is from the original Star Trek series if I'm not mistaken... Always reminded me of my old physics teacher, Mr Smillie; a differently handsome chap who never got any stick from a classroom full of sniggering 14 year old students! We were a thoroughly horrible lot back in the day... Anyway, back on topic, nice bass and GLWTS. ☺
