  1. Just to clarify, price is £500 or near offer. Updated advert to concentrate on the Mesa Big Block 750 only now, with some cool YouTube links and revised wording. Hopefully, this will help focus attention on what is a great amp ! Thanks for looking...
  2. Bergantino AE212 cab with cover - now SOLD *** Not getting much joy trying to sell this on here as part of a combined for sale ad with the Mesa Boogie Big Block I'm also selling, so I've decided to feature this separately with some new photos to try to tempt in an offer or two.. I bought this cab from Dvisions just before the New Year and have used it for just a handful of gigs in that time. It's in perfect working order, it's a perfect 1-cab solution for the modern day gigging bassist being that it's very clean, detailed and accurate sounding, with excellent dispersion and it handles 600 watts at 4 ohms. The other good thing is that it's relatively lightweight (55 lbs) and has a small onstage footprint! There's loads of really helpful reviews and stuff on Google, YouTube, Talkbass etc about the cab so I won't post any links, but suffice to say, if you want to get more info about this cab, it's definitely out there! Bergantino Blurb as follows: " ... Based on the hugely successful AE112 this vertically oriented cabinet is designed as a one cab solution for those looking for a big sound with low weight. With sparkling high end details, plenty of smooth mid-range energy and deep low end the AE212 will deliver a huge sound in a relatively compact and easy to move cabinet. Utilising Bergantino own custom Neodymium drivers you can achieve effortless and controlled sound at any volume. We suggest using a minimum of a 500w at 4Ω amp but this cab will thrive on amps of up to 1000w." Model AE212 specifications: 2 x 12" Custom Neodymium drivers with 7 oz magnets, high intelligibility 1" tweeter, custom phase - coherent crossover with tweeter level control, power handling - 600 watts rms, frequency response: 40hz - 15khz, sensitivity: 103 db @ 1 Watt/1 meter, 2 x 1/4" and 2 x neutrik connectors, impedance: 4 ohms, dimensions: 31"H x 18-1/2"W x 15"D / 78cm x 47cm x 38cm, weight: 55lbs/25 Kgs. I've posted some photos here but if you need to see more, you can click here. Only selling because a) I'm using my Ampeg amp & cabs more, b) imminent house purchase is straining the finances somewhat and c) I've just had to buy a new car. So, something has had to give, hence this being up for sale. As stated, I need to raise funds so I'm not looking for trades at this time, sorry. Price is £500 or near offer. Viewings welcome if you're near Littlehampton, West Sussex (tea/coffee/biscuits provided). Happy to work something out about travelling if it's within a 50 mile radius.. I've posted large cabs & amps before (for an additional cost) and could be persuaded to do so again, but there's always a risk with that which I'd prefer not to have to do if possible. Thanks for looking and if you need more info, please PM me. I do have a feedback thread too, so please check that out if you don't know me and want to check out my credentials on Basschat.. Cheers Nik
  3. Got a chance to see chimike play at the Black Horse in Clymping, West Sussex on Friday with his band and they were fantastic! Think they're called 'The Nothing Yet Band'. Their Set List included stuff by James Brown, Doobie Brothers, Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Righteous Brothers etc - songs you either wanted to dance to or sing along with - it was great. Mike was totally in the groove from start to finish and played everything with real aplomb. Here's a very poor quality photo ...
  4. My first real band in 1977 was a 3 piece, so there was a lot of scope for the bass to add melodic lines in the songs, so I often found myself playing in the upper registers.. Looking back, there were a lot of bassists around at the time who played like that, so I guess I just found what they did really inspiring. Those players - such as Dennis Dunaway (Alice Cooper) in particular, Chris Squire (Yes), Leigh Gorman (BowWowWow), Steven Severin (Siouxsie & The Banshees and John Gustafson (Roxy Music) for example - made the role of the bass much more interesting to me by creating bass lines that either the whole song was built on, or hooks and lead melodies that made the overall songs more compelling. Jean Jaques Burnel of The Stranglers was really good at that too.. Every now and again you'd get a bass solo that'd really jump out, like Graham Gouldman's solo in 10cc's 'I'm Not in Love', or John Gustafson's solo in Roxy Music's 'Song For Europe', and of course John Entwhistle's solo in 'My Generation - they were important reference points for me as a young bass player. But it was only later on that I really began to appreciate players like McCartney and Jamerson who's melodic basslines were (for me) the real magic in the song and were in effect, almost a solo instrumental part from start to finish. I thought I'd settled down over the years and become much less likely to be playing up in the so-called dusty end, but this photo that Mrs Silverfoxnik took of my band last summer shows that I've really not grown up at all! 😁
  5. Weekend BUMP for all you lovers of.. ..hi-tech, lo-tech, Class A, Class D, light weight, heavy weight, solid-state, valve-state, make-weight, permanent state, HiFi tone, Vintage tone, single-channel, dual-channel, old watts, new watts, ultra-lows, ultra-highs, sparkling-mids, scooped-mids, mono-blocked, bi-amped, revamped, smoke-free zoned, stand-alone, buttery-toned, and 'hefty' toned.. Bass Gear! 😁
  6. Sorry to hear about those EvilBay problems, Chris.. Fingers crossed that it gets sorted out for you eventually. I've never bought or sold on Reverb so can't comment from experience specifically, but I imagine there's potential problems there particularly with international transactions. Basschat is still the place where I prefer to sell gear, but the market is so incredibly slow at the moment.
  7. Nope; all my gear is gigged remorselessly. Every now and then, if I'm feeling a little sentimental and overly generous, some of my gear may get the occasional clean up with a bit of Pledge and post gig spittle.
  8. A pre weekend BUMP for all you lovers of.. ..hi-tech, lo-tech, Class A, Class D, light weight, heavy weight, solid-state, valve-state, make-weight, permanent state, HiFi tone, Vintage tone, single-channel, dual-channel, old watts, new watts, ultra-lows, ultra-highs, sparkling-mids, scooped-mids, mono-blocked, bi-amped, revamped, smoke-free zoned, stand-alone, buttery-toned, and 'hefty' toned.. Bass Gear! 😁
  9. +1 to the OP For me, I've had over 12 years and counting on Bassworld, Basstalk and Basschat collectively, and had almost overwhelmingly positive experiences when buying and selling gear. And though there's only been a couple of instances in all that time which had problems - both caused by Courierbot error I might add - things were amicably resolved in typical Basschatter fashion, i.e. through good communications. On more than one occasion, people have loaned gear to me to try out at my leisure and that's been an invaluable resource, especially when that evil-eyed GAS monkey is getting the better of me! Happy to say I've made a few good friends on here too, often through buying/selling, but also at the various Bass Bashes I've been to. Gotta say... the Mods deserve a lot of credit for keeping this place in good shape; without that constantly care and attention, I think it could quite easily slip a little. But most of all, I think it's a great community on Basschat because bass players are all about building good stuff from the ground up, and bringing folk together - it's just what we do! ☺
  10. Love Blue Turk ! In fact almost any of Dennis Dunaway's bass lines on School's Out are great.. Luney Tune and Gutter Cat vs The Jets in particular. ☺
  11. That's a very beautiful instrument... I really like how understated it is, but the woods are stunning! GLWTS
  12. Guillaume has just bought a 90s Squier P Bass from me in a deal that went very well.. He was a good communicator throughout and that always makes a difference in my book - especially when you're shipping internationally, which I was in this case. And everything else went well too, including a safe delivery by UPS within the two day timeframe they promised. So, summing up, I'm very happy to recommend Guillaume to those that don't know him on Basschat. Cheers Guillaume and I hope you enjoy the bass! ☺
  13. Likewise, I bought some DR strings from Darren and apart from being great value for money, they arrived in double-quick time! Would be very happy to deal with Darren again. And to recommend him to all on Basschat. Thanks Darren ☺
  14. Some great playing in your sound clips, and some great music too - love the Joycee Brown track in particular. The bass sounds huge in some of those tracks 😁 That's a lot of bass for the money IMO, with a cool pedigree and a fair bit of mojo too. GLWTS
  15. That's a stunning Mk1 Wal Custom; in both sound and looks! Love your playing too... The bass really complements your style of playing - or is that the other way around? Anyway, it sounds amazing. GLWTS
  16. Cheers.. ☺ I've actually been pondering about whether or not to withdraw the Big Block over the last couple of days, as it's such a great sounding amp....
  17. I'm really surprised that it's still here at this price, especially as it's a high quality Yamaha TRB5 we're talking about.. Build quality is excellent, it sounds great and for a 5 string, it has a very comfortable neck too Something of a bargain I'd say! GLWTS Josh ☺
  18. +1 Another fantastic bass that's been for sale on here for too long... GLWTS (again)
  19. That is a real stunner! Ford Capris, Huggy Bear and 8-track cartridges... 😁 GLWTS
  20. Must admit to being surprised that there seems to be very little love or interest for this rig... ..whether that's the gear itself (though Mesa and Bergantino are top draw IMO) the price I've put it up at, or just the fact that stuff really isn't shifting very quickly on Basschat these days, I don't know? Anyway, here's a BUMP for the BANK Holiday weekend regardless! ☺
