  1. Wow, Jack! What's going on?? You could get RSI just from selling so many basses at one time... Anyway, just to say that I've played this bass and it's a cracker! Very similar tonally to my BC Rich Eagle from the same era.. plays great too. GLWTS
  2. Great bass! I remember trying one of these out at the Bass Centre in Wapping in the late 80s or early 90s. IIRC, the filter circuit was Overwater's version of the Wal Custom electronics and was very good... I can't remember what pick ups they had, though they look like Kent Armstrong humbuckers to me.. Anyway, have a BUMP from me for a really cool British made, boutique bass! GLWTS
  3. BUMP for a cool, portable rig and a great Basschat seller! How's the 'big boxes' therapy going Chris? 😁
  4. I remember that, Chris! Just wish my bass playing was as consistent as my online whinging... 😁 I know the music and musicians in his band do a great job but I just don't like JK's voice, songs or hat-ittude!
  5. Awful, horrid, plastic, soul-less, meaningless pop/pap funk! I used to have to play that song every weekend for 3 years in a band I was in once and it was absolute low point of the evening every time... I've nothing against the backing musicians involved like Nick Fyffe - who are very talented and far more successful than me - it's just something about JK that makes my musical blood run cold. 'Poundland Stevie Wonder' really make me chuckle.. 😁
  6. "For sale my beloved <bass/amp/cab etc.>"
  7. Good thread this! And it's got me thinking... Did a quick count up of existing gear and it's about £6k not including a few acoustic guitars.. All of it has been acquired over a 12 year period (when I started playing again after an 11 year break). So, in my self-justifying brain, it's an average spend of about £500 per year and, as I don't smoke or drink - nor do I have any other expensive hobbies like golf/cars/cycling etc - then I'm pretty comfortable with it. Having said that, it's real value to me is that it's absolutely priceless - I just can't imagine life without the opportunity and the equipment I need to make music with other like-minded people on a daily, weekly, monthly, yearly basis! And the value to my nearest & dearest is incalculable as I'd be even more insufferable to be around if I couldn't play the bass and make music.
  8. Just had the pleasure of dealing with Mac, who's bought a Yamaha amp from me. Great comms throughout and fast payment too... But most of all, Mac's a real Gent, so I'm really pleased that I've been able to help him find the amp he was after! Thanks Mac and I hope you enjoy the amp.. ☺
  9. Cool; will check your website out.. Back on topic, I A/B'd my V4BH against my Markbass LMIII and, whilst the LMIII is louder (and obviously lighter), the V4BH has so much more depth and warmth to it.. It's not even an e.q. thing either - it's just the fundamental tone it produces has those inherent characteristics.. So, GLWTS (again) ☺
  10. +1 I didn't realise it was a Bill Lawrence pick up, which are fabulous as you say. Makes this an even better instrument IMO.
  11. All good thanks Geoff; hope you are too? I'm assuming this is the same amp I owned for a while... if so, it's a beautiful sounding head with so much tonal versatility and with loads of power too!
  12. Great amp! And Geoff's a really good guy to deal with too, so you can't go wrong.. GLWTS
  13. I have a Berg 212 too and you're absolutely right, it pairs wonderfully with this amp.. Which venue in Bognor were you playing at?
  14. Hi ash, Is this likely to fit a Markbass LM3? Nik
  15. Great, underrated basses IMO and quite rare these days.. I bought one of Merton about 8 years ago and moved it on far too quickly because it wasn't getting much playing time because of my Roscoe Beck V. But I always regretted selling it because it was such a quality instrument. Anyway, at this very good price, I doubt this will be here long. GLWTS Steve ☺
  16. I have this amp too and can't speak highly enough of it.. I think if I tried to sell it, my band members would lynch me they like it that much! Paired with the matching 115 cab, it's delivers a lovely chocolatey warmth that reminds me of so many of my favourite records from the 60s and 70s. But by adding the matching 210 cab to it, it opens up even more and delivers a more classic, punchy tone that works for so many types of music. GLWTS
  17. Doesn't look like that to me in the clip, Chris... But whichever way he did it, his rhythmic & melodic sensibility was undeniable.
  18. Brilliant ! Great floating thumb technique too ... ☺
  19. Not sure what Mani's tone is to be honest, but I really rate this amp!
  20. I bought one these recently and have been so impressed by it.. The range of tones available is fantastic, - including the overdriven channel which is very usable - and it really has some power and dare I say it, 'heft'! 😁 It's so good in fact, that I haven't used my Ampeg V4BH since getting the Big Block... GLWTS
