1.
Looking like I'll be able to make it - hopefully see you there!
Great! 😊
  2.
Hi - no binding at all. The previous-but-one owner removed it! I'm thinking it might be too big a job for one day, though...
Spoke to Ian he agrees, it's too big a job for the day. Sorry..
  3.
Are we having the obligatory 'name' stickers with Basschat name & real name?
Indeed we are ! 😀
  4. Wow - 'forgot these were here until someone PM'd me and reminded me' kind of BUMP! 😊
  5. Now SOLD 😊 Hi Folks I bought this cool looking Gherson Jazz Bass about 18 months ago on Ebay, had it set up and cleaned, and then it's pretty much sat around looking pretty in it's case doing nothing. I think I've played a gig or two with it in that time, and maybe half a dozen rehearsals.. Not because it isn't any good, it's just because I use my BC Rich Eagle and P Bass pretty much all the time,,, So, with an impending house move coming on next month, I figure it's better to see if there's any love for this kind of retro 70's Jazz Bass clone here on the forum? If there is, then I could be tempted by an offer of around SOLD plus any shipping costs on top. Here are some photos... Good points are that it has quite a punchy tone and loud output, courtesy of the Dimarzios, plus it looks great - cool 70s case too that works fine.. It's also got the original black bridge cover too, which looks pretty good to me. Of all my basses, it's the only one the guitarist in my band has ever been complimentary about (make of that what you will??). Bad points are that it is heavy, it could do with a bit more TLC to get it to play better - though everything is working fine in terms of the bridge, truss rod etc - and the neck pick up and some of the screws could do with cleaning up a bit as they're a bit rusty with age. If you'd like to know more, see other pics, come and try it out in Littlehampton, West Sussex - then please contact me. Anyway, thanks for looking as ever. Nik
  6.
Fair point Nik, and I guess the other thing you could add to that is that they're the ones out there making (or made) a successful living out of what they do (or did)...
Very true!
Just my 2p's worth - I've read a lot of people say how great they are but.... I just don't hear it. That being said, I didn't "get" The Beatles for years until I really listened to all their stuff from "Rubber Soul" onwards, and really appreciated how great (imo) they were. Maybe Primus will have the same effect on me when I'm about 75 (if I live to be that age...)
Aren't Primus Les Claypool's band?
  7.
Hi - no binding at all. The previous-but-one owner removed it! I'm thinking it might be too big a job for one day, though...
I'll check with Ian and let you know...
  8. Whatever our individual and very subjective views are about all the band's mentioned in this thread, we're the ones doing all the talking about them - spending our time and/or our money listening to their music to decide whether or not we like what they do and whether they're overrated or underrated or not. Meanwhile, the band's in question have absolutely no idea who we are, what our views are, whether we're good bass players/musicians or not, and what our opinions of them are. And they most likely never will. Its pretty obvious who's in the better place, don't you think? 😉

  12. It's that time again ... nearly!
  13. It's not acceptable at all. Even worse, a guy behaving like that whilst he's with his female partner.
  14. Sorry to hear that.. commiserations to you! Next year, hopefully?
  15. Thanks for the reply, dood. Am interested; just need to check something out. Will get back to you tomorrow hopefully. Cheers Nik
  16. Hi dood Do you know of these are the same type they use on Faith electro acoustic guitars? Cheers Nik
  17. Cheers Greg, And will do! And if you ever decide to part with your custom T-bird, don't forget to let me know... 😊 Nik
  18. It's a good read, this thread. 😁 Top of my list, especially as far as the BC fraternity is concerned, has to be Jamiroquai. I think Vulpeck are hugely overrated too. IMO, there's a difference between bands who's music I personally don't like, and bands who I think are overrated. In the case of Jamiroquai, I personally don't like their music at all and I think they're vastly overrated. Conversely, I actually quite like some of the Vulpeck stuff I've heard, but still think they're a bit overrated Just my personal 2p worth of course. To try to argue that The Beatles are overrated is an utterly futile exercise; all the evidence - their sales, cultural impact, critical acclaim, respect from their peer over the years, etc, etc - is too compelling a case. Be that as it may, it doesn't mean you have to like their music.
  19.
I'll be bringing a big box of BC Polo shirts. Will sell very cheap (cost price, so about a fiver) and any proceeds will go towards the charity Cheers ped
Thanks ped! 😊
