1.
I had one and it was a bit tatty so didn't stay. A nice one would be lovely but you need to be happy with the weight.
Is that the one I bought from you Peter? Great sounding basses IMHO..And some very clever passive electronic circuitry that does offer a wide range of useable tones. I always liked the placement of the neck pick up on the T40s as it gives a really natural, warm tone. I've had two before and stupidly sold both of them and this thread is underlining to me just how crazy I was to do that..
 2.
I've got a lot of time for Magazine. Barry auditioned for the band as a complete bass novice (listen to the bassline on "The Light Pours out of Me") and progressed very quickly. "A Song From Under the Floorboards" is superb. Devoto's arch delivery is part of the charm, he's not a powerful singer but he was a great lyricist and had a weird "Emcee from Cabaret" kind of charisma.
Very interested to learn that about Mr Adamson... Thanks. He is one of my favourite bass players and I would put Magazine's first album 'Real Life' in my top 10-20 favourite albums ever. And 'The Light Pours Out of Me' is a fantastic piece of music. As for Howard Devoto, I've always loved his vocal delivery and his lyrics and as a founding member of The Buzzcocks, as well as his work with Magazine, his place in British punk/post-punk musical history is pretty much assured.. Got to agree with other comments about John McGeoch too; an absolute genius!
 3.
This is a bargain.!!!!.
Definitely is! These are great sounding amps anyway, but to have two channels is just so useful. As you say, a bargain. GLWTS
 4.
John mcGeoch, guitarist with Siouxsie and the Banshees, Magazine and PIL (and my all time favourite guitarist ever) had given up music and become a nurse too just before his untimely death.
Absolutely love McGeoch's sound and playing, especially with Magazine.. Back on topic, I've always wanted to know what happened to George Murray, who played bass on some of my favourite Bowie albums in the mid to late 70s. His playing with Dennis Davis and Carlos Alomar was just superb!
 5.
Fantastic bass playing. . . . and isn't that an Overwater he's playing? Edit Listening to this for a second time, I could do with less of that shouty woman at the front and more bass.
+1 Great musicianship from Ian and I have to agree with you Chris - if only the vocalist had his sensitivity for the dynamics in the song. Sure, she has a big gospel singers voice, but her performance is totally lacking any light and shade. Anyway, back to the bass... I can remember seeing this when it was originally broadcast and really noticing the bass sound and bass playing, which doesn't happen often when watching these kind of shows on TV. Always good to learn how many very talented bass players there are on this forum, so thanks to the OP for doing that.
 6. Very nice indeed! And a bit of a rarity too.... GLWTS
 7. Beautiful bass! I owned two Classic 5s in the 90s and they were very special instruments indeed. Gorgeous neck profile, very reasonant and in the right hands (not mine sadly), as funky a sounding bass as you can get! GLWTS
 8.
Another 'apologies if it's already been posted' (but it is amazing, so here it is) Isolated Ziggy vocal track. https://t.co/qyPFDRr58t
Thanks for this - it is as you say, 'amazing'!!
 9. Fascinating, funny, very moving and informative ... with some brilliant unseen footage. Absolutely loved it!
 10. I'm sure I heard this bass in action in the Jam Room at one of the South East Bashes a few years ago and it sounded quite glorious, and very comfortable to play too.. Not that I could do it much justice at all, as I'm not a fretless player. But when smaz was playing it, its qualities really shone through.. GLWTS
 11.
This was the stand-out performance for me: written and performed by Imelda May . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILjkdZloLUM And the forthcoming tour is coming to Ipswich! Deep Joy
Totally agree Pete; she was sensational!
 12.
That sounds so good... Good luck with the sale.
Beautiful sounding bass, but fabulous playing too! GLWTS
 13.
On that list of luthiers ,Graham Wheeler is near to you and can say from personal experience very very good. Very reasonable prices too. Grahams' been in the bizz for over 40 years. http://basschat.co.u...ended-luthiers/
+1 for Graham Wheeler - he's very good! There's also Ian Robinson, based at GB Music in Bognor, who's very good also and Mike at Mike's Music in Bognor.
 14. I didn't know Vic but despite that, this is still very sad news to hear. It's always a shame to lose fellow bass players and bass afficionados. As has been said already, thoughts are with his family and close friends.
 15.
Sorry for your situation, but as Dave says it's just stuff. When you're back on your feet there will be better stuff to buy. Good luck.
+1 Though it definitely hurts more having to sell treasured basses in times of need than with amps and cabs in my experience. Sorry to hear about your situation though and wishing you a speedy upturn in your circumstances!
 16. This is a real bug bear subject for me because of the way musicians have been very unfairly and very poorly treated by the insurance companies over the years! I remember being on my local Musicians Union committee in North London in the late 80s and at the time, the MU had to negotiate a block deal with General Accident just so your average working musician could get affordable car insurance! Even now sadly, you still have to be so careful what you say to the main insurance companies and underwriters when applying for car insurance just in case they decide you're too much of a risk - regardless of the fact that you're only playing in local pubs - and they won't insure you. Which IMO, is pretty much a form of discrimination in my book, especially in 2017. I can still remember some call centre klutz years back telling me his company wouldn't insure me because '.. you might have Mick Jagger in your car.' even though I told him at least 20 times I only played in a covers band once or twice a month! Unbelievable..
 17. Imelda May singing 'Black Tears' was the highlight of the show for me - absolutely stunning!
 18. Thanks; I'm really looking forward to seeing that!
 19. I have this very same cab set-up and it sounds great; either with the matching Ampeg V4B head or with my Eden 400 Traveller. The 1x15 is a lovely sounding cab on its own too, especially if you like that 'old-skool thump' (which I do), and it's really not too big or heavy to move around as a one cab solution IMO. GLWTS
 20.
The 1978 BC Rich Eagle.
Good call! That, or Old Horse Murphy's lovely Vintage 63 reissue P Bass...
