  1. Dave sold me a NIB set of Gotoh Lollipop tuners, saving me a few £ on getting them from Thomann, quickly shipped and well packed easy transaction, top man
  2. The part numbers at the beginning, the two I was looking at are EP4185 and EP4385, in your case they are 250SS, if you have a CTS spec list they will be detailed in there, ctscorp.com, resistance, type, shaft type and length etc... Just have to hope that vendors keep their stock well sorted
  3. WD music also say Audio taper, they are high tolerance spec pot WD Music I was googling CTS pots earlier as 2 I was sent are different part numbers, turns out one is no load variant, not as high quality as the ones you have, it actually measures 291kOhm before going no load
  4. A quick Google finds this link which says they are Audio taper ebay link
  5. 1st 3 frets sounds like nut is cut a bit low, have you changed strings to something different ?
  6. I had to clearance the pickguard on mine too so they floated freely and could easily adjust height, odd they don't get that right it must be obvious when the plate and pickups are mounted
  7. A good number of us will be interested in the epoxy fingerboard part of the build; watching with interest
  8. Is this an evolution of the bridge design that @Sidlanir posted on here a couple of years ago ? evo4bridge
  9. I can see all the other photos just not the latest one, weird one but not important; same thing happens on the other forum I use sometimes, but then right click open in new tab does work, in this case it doesn't
  10. picture doesn't display and link doesn't work either for me using Edge browser in Win10
  11. I'm trying to understand why the Squier Classic Vibe Mustang Bass pickups and the Lollar Version A Mustang Bass pickups have the magnets centred at 22mm whereas the strings are roughly at 16mm centres at the pickup. The more trad style Version B Lollar Mustang pickup is bigger (I think matches the original pickup dimensions) but the poles are at just under 16mm centres. Also if anyone know if the 'Vintage' version of the Nordstrand MN4 fits the Squier pickup cover and if they have two small staggered magnets per string and at what centres that would be great. I've listened to the samples of the various Mustang pickups on the Talkbass thread which was useful. The varied information I have read suggests the Japanese reissue pickups may have been designed by Seymour Duncan. Nowhere that I have found is there a definitive what fits what guide and the mixing of imperial and metric measurements adds confusion. Many thanks
  12. it's not the same as that, pluck a single note and wait 1 second+ for it to come to pitch, makes setting the intonation a pain, then you play and you can't trust your technique because of it, so you recheck the intonation, check you haven't twisted the string etc.. don't have the issue with any other brand of ss strings I've tried
  13. Short scale rotosounds are known for ringing sharp then settling to pitch, I tried both the flats and the tapes, same issue with both, did some online searching and found a good string article on Scott Whitley's old site which confirmed it. The E was the worst for it, but to some extent all the strings did it.
  14. Google loves Basschat and TAlkBass, so searching for stuff about basses the relevant threads come fairly high in search results usually behind the popular live webshops, if nothing corresponding is for sale new then these results can appear at or close to the top of a search. That's how I found Basschat. Google ranks lively forums with lots of fresh content highly. I have never had to advertise what I do, the forum for the VW campers I do the gearboxes for and a simple website with the right keywords in is plenty enough to keep me busy.
  15. is there anyway of adding a bump counter to for sale ads so people can see how many times the op has bumped the listing please If you are on here everyday you can see what's going on but for those that aren't but come here say from a google search for a particular item they might not realise that x has been listed for 10 days and bumped 5 times, suggesting seller is keen to offload, whereas some sellers list and leave it a while before bumping. and maybe the serial bumpers might have limits in the same way as the new monthly limit on number of new listings (are you a business ?) just an idea
  16. Some Squier serial numbers are just IC, some are ICS, I'd be interested to know what the S really stands for, is it a different facility or a different quality, Squier wiki says limited runs like FSR etc. ICS is generally the nicer stuff ime; I have a CV Mustang that is ISS, I think the first S is Samick but again what the second S stands for I don't know, and neither does Squier wiki
  17. what will the body be made of ? if ash then grain could be highlighted during grain fill/base old Fender (US 50s car colours) paints have a lot of white in them, but there are other blues (VW medium blue for example as per my avatar) which have more black in them
  18. I offered Chris my OC2 in response to his wanted and he took me up on the offer, as expected no problems, good comms and quick payment; cheers 👍
  19. Have you looked inside to see how the selector works ? Looks like it's passive so guessing just different caps and/or resistors ?
  20. on top of the heater keeping warm
  21. smuggle them via the 6 counties, with a man with a van service, plenty of that going on 😉
  22. So did Gareth receive the advertised bass ? Looks like maybe the ebay seller was being economical with the serial number to me, be interested to see what turns up, as I am sure is roonjuice's friend......
  23. wot, no knobs
  24. In a similar vein I can't open pictures that other people send me which they have saved as screenshots on their phones (trying to share things from FB or whatsapp) even though they appear to be jpg files; this is with windows with picture viewer as default for jpg; but I can save them to my hard drive and then open them no problem in another more powerful picture viewer/editor; I believe it is to do with the compression algorithm used on the phones, which windows doesn't seem to like, throwing up a out of memory error, so it maybe not all jpg formats are equal. Whatsapp pics open just fine in Signal thankfully.
