Paul sold me a preloved set of Elites flatwounds, all good, thank you

I am expecting it to be more generic, lesson one is his mastering the fingerboard technique which I believe is in one of his early books. It's not a fretless course, I think he's using a fretted bass in the first lesson

perhaps if an item is bumped by the OP then instead of the poster of the last post being shown in the right hand column it changes to 'bumped' so you don't go and look at it thinking that someone whose opinion you maybe trust/like/value has added to the thread and so it's clear that it's just the vendor pushing it to front of the shop window (again) Ped once advised me that one shouldn't bump until your post gets beyond page 5 because buyers generally look that far back, browsing rather than using search, for something they really want but at the moment with people bumping every 48 hours and so many unsold items that can easily happen in a couple of days and so many sales seems to be driven by shiny object GAS rather than need/want or informed desire Re the OPs item for sale I don't think I have even looked at it so it's either something I don't need or want or more likely I couldn't afford even if I did, but GLWTS

Hi please can anyone with a Fender factory fitted '57 on Precision bass give me the position of the fixing holes say relative to the ball end of the bbot bridge - there's a template from Fender for the Jazz bass but I've had a good Google and I haven't been able to find the comparable P Bass information anywhere - I could email Fender but probably quicker to ask you all, thank you

Mike bought a few tools from me, all good, best wishes and thanks

Brendon bought a Jazz body from me, swift payment and great comms, top BCer, many thanks, enjoy

Scott hasn't been on here since June 6th last year when he posted or reacted to the thread about SBL, and he didn't come back to tell the story of the stolen bass recovery either - I guess he decided not to waste any time or emotional energy on here getting/dealing with negative reactions and concentrate on doing what he needed to in the 5 days a week he spends on SBL whilst also spending time with his family and moving home etc... Talking with Mark at Bass Direct recently he said he doesn't come on here or other bass forums - I guess he meant TB, either, probably for the same reasons given the vitriol that sometimes seems to pour forth on here I can understand why; it's partly why I don't do facebook instagram, twatter or other types of social media they are home to too many toxic people. When I first came on here (from Google search looking for information) it seemed pretty chilled and friendly but I'm not so sure now and it seems a lot of good and interesting people no longer post here

Dave bought my modified fretless J&D mini Jazz bass, great comms and quick payment; I hope to see and hear him play it when I next go to Ireland, cheers

I signed up for it yesterday, invested the money I made from selling a bass 😲, hardest bit will be finding the time over the next 2 months but I'll be able to keep going back over it till it sinks in, I find at my age learning is hard, I wish all this had been around 45+ years ago instead of the recorder or triangle at infants and the classical based musical education for other instruments that was on offer then. I hope the youngsters are aware of the musical educational opportunities that are available to them now and take advantage of that and the relatively low cost of instruments and recording tech to make great music for the future where is high six country ? Google didn't know

Peter sold me a nicely aged and loaded PB pickup, posted out same day, all good, many thanks

mines still saying expected 23 April; I saw an interview with Geddy on YouTube and the 2nd run was already happening when that was posted so I guess that may already be sold out or at least provisionally allocated worldwide

Unfinished Jazz Bass Body in Ash, bought from KitBuiltGuitars https://www.kitbuiltguitars.co.uk/parts/jazz-bass-style-ash-wood-body.html a few years ago when I planned on using it to replace the soft maple body (which was float away light and hence bass had neck dive issue) on a Squier VM 77 Jazz but in the end I sold the VM so it has been sat in the wrapper in it's box just gathering dust 2.95Kg, neck pocket 63.3mm, routed so it needs a pickguard, 5 piece, so would only really suit an opaque finish £38 inc UK delivery

Chris Alsop Guitars Ground Fret Pullers https://www.chrisalsopguitar.co.uk/shop/guitar-tools/fret-pullers-and-fret-cutters/guitar-fret-pullers-TF001 used to defret a short scale 20 fret bass - £5 inc. 2nd class postage 20" radius block, beech, used to level fingerboard of same bass once fret slots had been infilled with veneer - £7 inc. 2nd class postage I don't think I will be doing another defret or even a refret job so hopefully these will be of use to someone else 2 of 4 G&W stainless steel under string radius gauges, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Set-of-4-Stainless-Steel-Understring-Radius-Gauge-Luthier/221408086991?epid=1758427118&hash=item338cf34bcf:g:E30AAOSwjExaoBVD FOR SALE the 10 and 12" radius for setting/checking your string heights relative to the finger/fret board £2 each or £3 for both inc. 2nd class postage. Ibanez Mikro Bass is 12" so maybe other Ibanez basses are too, some Lakland are 10" I believe ALL NOW SOLD

After 8 months of in and out of love with The Maruszczyk Jake I traded it for this, 1990/91 MIJ PB57, I think it's a 500 but it has these tuners and Japanese Alnico pickups, both of which I think may be Gotoh ? I've got as far as I can with the nerdiscope on Google so I'll stop worrying about what it is and enjoy my first real PB - loving the neck even though it is markedly different to my MIM Jazz
-
2cm longer than the quoted internal length of the Gator XL I have for sale, I have just checked with a tape measure and it would be too tight I think, the frame is just 109cm and whilst there is a cut out for the strap button in the middle of the case the offset shape of the Jaguar means it will be the same as the one you bought, shame

If putting it away will reduce the spur of the moment pick it up and play it factor then leave it out, if you are a disciplined time set aside for practice person then maybe put it away, or if your leaving it out causes friction with other people then you have to put it away in the interest of harmony, but unless it is in a very dry place or damp place or in the sun then leaving it out will do no harm, and a good stand or wall hanger is sensible. (most) People with kids don't put them (the kids) away when they've finished playing with them, thus leaving the opportunity for spontaneous joy and the occasional disaster that makes for whole life experience

You'd think that the members of this forum could demonstrate this, find a dozen players who can play the same repertoire and pop them in the same recording situation with the same bass and backing track and record and hey there's an interesting YouTube video, maybe suggest it to Scott or Andertons (if they aren't already lurking here) or do it at a bass bash perhaps

there's a natural p bass body on ebay at the moment https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Glorious-New-old-stock-Mighty-Mite-Fender-Precision-bass-body-made-in-USA/163601380036?_trksid=p2485497.m4902.l9144 same seller has two necks listed

some CVs are/were made by Cort in Indonesia same as VMs, this is from Fender's own website illustrating CV Jazz
-
you can see they are different sizes but I couldn't easily find the actual dimensions online but should be standard Fender size
-
wow, lovely designs and execution, similar things I've seen before in others work that I didn't like seem so well blended and balanced and not overly fussy; just as some of the work by some of the people on here looks better than some of the big name luthiers' work
-
is it ? the machine heads seem to be exactly the same as the MIM, so maybe Korean made - Fender won't ever say what is made where except for the parts available with part numbers in packets that they sell afaics but quite a lot of that is Korean
-
Same first 2 but I went Spector rather than the Xotic - if the Mayones had been the Jaba 4 custom that's in stock it would have been that instead of one of them - it wasn't a fair comparison but a bit of fun

modern stuff is often surprisingly robust, last year I pulled my PJB double 4 off a 4' stack onto a concrete floor (went to answer the phone forgetting I was only plugged in with a 3m guitar lead and the phone was 5m away), dented the casing on one corner and it switched itself off but the lights were still on, so I assumed the worse thought I'd broken it, but after answering the phone and berating myself for being an idiot, I was made up to find that switching it off at the power and back on it came back on okay and has worked fine since
