31" scale, looks interesting, but no details like string spacing, nut width, weight, availability........I like Alan's pickups, and he seems to have some good shops in China making instruments with decent QC

But you have had work done on it after buying it ? Was this approved by the vendor, or done by the vendor ?

I just fitted some medium scale tapewounds to a CV FSR Mustang, all bar the E string are on the posts on the silks with the silks finishing roughly level with the string tree button, the E string is nearly 1 wind on the post beyond the silks. afaik Fender don't make a Mustang specific string and it seems like they fit long scale strings cut to length from the factory, certainly on the Squiers

just get a set of covers, work to those dimensions and fit the pickups inside the covers - probably best to use the covers with no pole piece holes like these then you can swap pickups inside the covers to your heart's content should you chose Ebay link

I think you mean Mustang not Precision bass, PB has the pickups sat on foam with height adjusted by wood screw into body, the foam is pushing the pickup away from the back of the body, the screw is pushing the pickup cover, and hence the pickup, down towards the body. Mustang bass the pickups are hung from the pickguard with springs (or rubber tubing) over the machine screws between the back of the guard and the top of the pick up cover so by adjusting the length of the machine screw you adjust the height of the pickup relative to the pick guard.

cutting fluid saves your tools from wearing out prematurely, and can make cheap tools (aren't they all now) actually useable - damp swarf is also less mobile so you get fewer bits in your clothes etc...pricking you, or being spread around the house, in your, the kids, or the pets skin

is it residue or is it where maybe solder was spilt and removed but has when hot changed the moleular structure of the plastic due to heat and flux? if rubbing alcohol didn't touch it it is probably there for good

it's a bolt on neck I wonder if they were going to get into bed with Spector at that point but Spector went with another builder, the Euros are made in the Czech republic now aren't they ?

Thank you for getting involved and getting a response, though surely Gregor has better things to do. Why are they prioritising social media comms, with a separate team dealing with those enquiries ? if they know there's an issue they should address that as the priority surely - do the basics first. Instagram and faceache, are the fluff on top of a serious business model, not a substitute for or the basis for one, imho of course. I've decided to spend my money with a UK business, it's a bit of a poor show that we consume so much and make so little really, the UK should really have a robust musical instrument manufacturing business landscape, there's enough people to support one, and enough imaginative people to create the products, and plenty of people who would rather make things other than fast food, I am sure.

mine look and measure like no 4 raised head phillips head screw 7/16" length, but I can't be sure (measure approx 2.8mmx11mm) most guitar pickup screws are listed on Ebay as 3mm x 12mm which should fit just fine, I tend to use stainless for replacement screws

I can't comment on adjustment as I only feel comfortable on shortscale, I have small hands and short arms and a big belly so whilst a full size P is more comfortable than a J it's still too far a reach and too awkward, and resting bass on right thigh is uncomfortable as it forces a twist in the back, with shortscale I can play on a strap sitting or standing comfortably. A good strap is all it takes if there's any neck dive, but my CV Mustang and Sandberg Lionel don't dive and the FSR Mustang while it does slightly dive compared to the CV (different body woods, different factory, the FSR is 1 1/2lb lighter than the CV, poplar body instead of Nato) with the right strap it is no problem. I might stick some hipshots on it. Mustangs are in the P territory sonically but have their own vibe, I have Nordstrands in one of them, stock Squier in the other. The Lionel has a P pickup it's like a maple board Fender in tone with a pauferro board on it. All of mine have pauferro boards, I would like a rosewood board neck, I'd like a JMJ but hate the fake relic finish, but the instruments sound great (unique pickups not for sale) and the neck feels good and the headstock with the hipshot tuners mean fitting a d-tuner on the E string is easily done, and lolipops are cool. Strings make a big difference, I've LaBella tapes on the Lionel and there's so much variety in tone available, LaBella Mustang flats on the CV and Fender rounds on the FSR, will be changing these to some sort of flat soon as I don't need or want the brightness of rounds, but might try Chromes as they seem to be very highly rated and I have never tried them. Flats being higher tension feel perhaps more like full scale strings, but if you are a vibrato/bender style player the lower tension of rounds on a short scale might be your thing.

I have made three more attempts to contact Sandberg by email, using their website, service@ and home@ email addresses and still no reply. Why bother having a contact form on the website and hiding your sales phone number ? Any company that is only open to using social media for customer contact can do one afaic I'd say it's typical big company arrogance, their way or no way. What's the point of having a configurator if you won't discuss the details with the customer. If they can't be bothered to deal with a potential individual customer in order to make a sale they are unlikely to be responsive once they have the customer's money. If they replied and said I need to go through Bass Direct or another dealer they are happy to use as intermediary I'd understand that but no reply at all ? wtf I love the Lionel fretless but they won't be getting my money for a fretted one, they have lost a sale, I'd much rather give my money to a UK luthier who will actually appear to be interested in making me an instrument, or even give Fender too much money for a JMJ with a finish I hate but a pickup and neck I like 😲🙃

Is the VS4 a pauferro fingerboard ? If you believe in tone from wood then you might think it will always sound different to a rosewood board fender neck - maybe no point changing stuff, just play them, and if they don't give you pleasure then sell them
