  1. Hi, Seems a bit cheap for a 79, pickup covers aren’t original , looks like it could be sienna burst, I’d suggest putting this in the vintage fenders thread for some more opinions Robert
  2. Had a good listen to the Ganja Man album by Linval Thompson today there’s 10 tracks and 5 dub versions on it , I’ll be learning a few of the basslines in the next few weeks, it’s well worth a listen,
  3. Cool, I might have to explore the skatalites a bit more, Lloyd Brevett was a great player and I think he had something to do with the Melodians too, I remember reading somewhere that they recorded at Randys ,which must have been in the really early days , but ill have to check that
  4. Good tune, I quite like the skatalites, on the Christine website it says,It was a ska version of Comin home baby a song written by Ben Tucker and first recorded by the Dave Bailey Quintet in 1961
  5. 61/62 jazz, Olympic white, preferably with matching headstock
  6. Oh my that’s lovely, how would you say it compares with your early 70s ones
  7. Thanks for that one, nice rhythm and bassline, I’ll give that a go tomorrow
  8. Very nice Jazzy, congrats, that fingerboard looks lovely
  9. That’s lovely , I have seen a 67 with a B neck, but they are so rare, if I see a sunburst one I’d be very tempted
  10. Out of interest what was you thinking of, I looked at some 60s ones and although they were really nice I couldn’t convince myself that I could live with the wider nut, I’ve got a 62RI Precision which i like, but it strangely feels better when I switch to my P with a B neck
  11. That’s a great looking amp, and it fits nicely on the two 10
  12. That’s a beauty Rob, congratulations
  13. It’s always good to ask here Lee, I do it myself especially with vintage basses, quite often someone spots something that I’ve missed, the right ones do come along but sometimes it’s a waiting game , good luck
  14. Hi starsmith and welcome, I’m no expert and just my opinion after a quick look , I’d say it’s been refinished looking at the neck pocket as there should be an area of bare wood where the paint stick was used, and usually but not always a few stamps, looks like the pot date is 73 but I’d ask for clearer pictures of that, and it looks like the second from last number on the neck stamp is a 4 so 74 , also the truss rod nut is a bit sunken which is something I personally don’t like to see, the tuners have the R trademark which I don’t think came in until 73 ?
  15. Definitely 👍, need a closer look at the pictures
  16. Listening to hospital trolley by I Roy yesterday I immediately recognised the intro from Java by Augustus Pablo which is among one of my favourite tracks and Basslines by him Which led me to this, which I think is the original, but there’s been so many versions I can’t be 100% , I think Fully Fullwood was the bass player on this
  17. If it sounds better for what you’re playing then it makes sense, I’ve always had a soft spot for the Charcoal Sparkle 4HH , and I’ve been tempted a few times but I don’t think I would stick with it, would like to try one though
  18. Sorry to hear this jack, wishing you all the best for your recovery
  19. Mine starts almost immediately, 2 minutes sounds a long time to me, maybe ask Dave Green at ashdown to be sure
  20. I’ve never part exchanged anything with him, I know he does do it but not really sure about that one
