Yeah definitely drT ,your right, I think he used the acoustic live and the ampeg for recording , Robbie also used a lot of Markbass , I assume he was sponsored

I tried to get one of those but it seemed they were only available in the US , and at the time they were out of stock, the neck on mine hasn’t moved, it keeps it’s tuning really good

I’ve seen Robbie Shakespeare , Aston Barrett and flabba holt all using ampeg , I’m not saying that’s all they used, but most bands I’ve seen do, including me this is from an interview- Aston Barrett, nicknamed “Family Man” (even before he had children,) is a Fender Jazz Bass player who plays reggae music. Amazingly, he is able to get an incredible upright sound out of the Fender J: Aston is known to use a custom flatwound set of strings. He has said in an interview that custom sizing was chosen from a 5-string set (even though he plays 4-string) and that Fender sends him 6 packs of strings once a year. In studio, Aston uses Ampeg amplification

I had a go at a few of them and I’m not the fastest player ,but they was fairly difficult for me to get them up to speed

I used to listen to a lot of Sade, and Paul Denman played his bass really high

I’ve always liked that model , I nearly bought a black one a while ago, I just want to play about with that woofer pickup

The BB2 is superb for reggae Al, really nice deep clean lows, I’ve got it with an Ampeg V-4B at the moment, I have got an eye on that LF, I imagine they sound immense
