  1. Clean it up and fit a new bridge and you got a nice bass there
  2. I’ve got the 1998 Mexican P bass special, they have the jazz width neck, and they play extremely nice
  3. Looks like it’s the squier version of the P bass special
  4. @Nail Soup if you want to browse some different styles of reggae have a look (if you haven’t already) at irie ites site , they are a french studio/ record label , they’ve recorded so many artists , and there’s a lot of synth Basslines used on lots of their tracks, let me know what you think 👍
  5. I can only speak for the force 4 and I’ve played the force 5 , but imo they are really underrated, and I’ve seen the 4 sell for £200 , which is a lot of bass for the money
  6. Yeah, I had Picato flats on my Sandberg and they were great, nice sound and tension , I know picato didn’t stock them in long scale for a long time, I haven’t looked so I don’t know if they do now
  7. I also gave the fender flats a good go , they sounded fine but I couldn’t get on the tension which was a bit high for me, they were on my 70s RI jazz which I sold to a friend about 6 weeks ago, he actually called me a week later and said how much he liked the strings 🙂
  8. They are a good string, although they are not on the brighter side, maybe put them on the one you want more thump out of 🙂
  9. I’ve never had a headless bass , but Cato’s status has definitely got me looking 🙂
  10. Been listening to a fair bit of Trinity lately, this one is Fairly recent, it’s a cracker
  11. Great bass, I’ve never had any strings with yellow silk, might be DR legend flats , not sure how long they’ve been around though 🙂
  12. Very clever, but if she sang me to sleep I’d have nightmares 😁
  13. That’s really nice Cato, do you want to sell....the stickers 😁
  14. It’s a great thread, I only use flats and have done for years , it’s interesting to find out about their history 🙂
  15. If music shops in the U.K. sold fenders , why wouldn’t they have a catalogue
  16. Yeah that’s true Hz, hofner go back a long way don’t they
  17. It looks like fender also did flatwound strings then, and tapewound, here’s a 1969 catalogue , so I’m guessing that if you bought a new jazz or P, it would come with their own strings
  18. It doesn’t seem real when you look at it now, but that was a lot of money then 🙂
  19. Don’t want to derail your thread but a few pages on look how much a new jazz or P was , 🙂
  20. I’ve just looked in a Bells catalog that i have from 1977 when I first went into a music store, it looks like picato did them
