  1. Not always, but they are known as the rhythm twins, they’ve worked with untold people over the years, you might like to browse the reggae thread here at some time, there’s quite a mixture in there 🙂
  2. Ah , fair enough TJ, please don’t think I was being cheeky, because I wasn’t 👍, but dub (which is what I play) is very bass and drums orientated , if you took the bass away you wouldn’t have anything , sly and Robbie is a good example 🙂
  3. I’m guessing you don’t listen to much reggae or dub 🙂, the bass is the foundation , it’s crucial , without it you haven’t got anything
  4. Crusing through Buckhurst Hill listening to this
  5. Don’t Dunlop have black silks ?
  6. They could be Labella 760 FS , not sure what scale your bass is 🙂
  7. You’re right, it’s not common but as 4000 says some builders do use it, there are some nice acoustic guitars made from all ash , here’s a nice one
  8. I’ve used nail polish very successfully before for a few chips I had in the paint, it did a good job, I’ve also heard of superglue being used , but I’ve never tried it myself 🙂
  9. If I remember from my college days 🤓, When a tree grows in water or wet conditions the structure is constantly full of water so it doesn’t grow as tight grained as it would above ground or in hot conditions
  10. I’ve worked with a lot of ash and it’s a very nice wood, probably one of my favourites , it’s got a nice grain and a very straight grain, that’s why it’s used for necks , the grain on swamp ash is not as dense as it grows in wetlands, The wood database is always a good source of information https://www.wood-database.com/swamp-ash/
  11. Thanks Stuart 👍, I must have seen them, but I can’t say i remember them, what year was they around

  15. About 2 years ago I bought a fairly cheap 5 string off of an elderly local gentleman who used to play in a blues /country band, he was raising money for his daughter’s wedding, I bought the 5 and he asked me if I wanted a case, i said yes if you have one, he gave me a battered old hard case, to which I asked what used to be in it, he said, his all original 1970 fender jazz which he had since new , that he had sold earlier that day for £1000😲, gutted I didn’t get there earlier
  16. Very nice, this has given me gas for one of those cabs now ☝️

  21. If you’re going to use wire wool Don’t forget to mask your pickups up well, the fibres will stick to your magnets , and everything else 🙂

  23. Do you know what finish is on it now, if you can determine that then you can look into the next step , according to the wood database Millettia stuhlmannii, is a close relative to wenge
  24. It’s good to keep a diary, I do that, and they all look really good to me👍 , except no7 😁
