  1. Absolutely top job stew, I like the use of the kitchen pallet knife, good thinking 👍
  2. [email protected] This is the email they used to keep me up to date on my custom 👍
  3. Sorry Andy, I thought the rule was to be used to score a line along the fingerboard/ neck join 🙂
  4. I would have thought so, the first one will just score the lacquer to get the line and then go slightly deeper each time,
  5. Have you got a ruler like the ones at school, just to score gently to get the line and gradually go a bit deeper 🙂
  6. That’s what I was thinking, would the heat not melt them, maybe cut some heat protecting pads to go over them
  7. Would the fretboard inlays need to be protected so the heat doesn’t lift them, or would they be ok
  8. I saw that, very nice, 👍I’m surprised it’s still available
  9. Hi chewie, yeah I have been on and off, I’ve looked at quite a few but they turned out not to be 100% original or way overpriced 🙂
  10. You could possibly cut some more of the wood out to expose the rod with a Dremel , but it would depend on how much wood is there behind, it may break away when you tighten the nut . I think if you’re careful and take your time, you will be able to remove the fretboard and see what the next plan is 🙂
  11. Yeah, but you wouldn’t have to turn down the treble on the amp because the compressor is pretty subtle, these are the settings I use for reggae and dub , the dark does boost the bass and it’s a clear sound, if I turn the light up full it’s only just noticeable
  12. I’m a carpenter and joiner/cabinet maker by trade, if I can assist I will stew 👍
  13. When I bought my 5 string Yamaha, the very nice guy asked me if I wanted a case, I said yeah if you’ve got one, so he gave me the original case that was from his 1972 fender jazz, which he had sold a few days earlier, he said the guy who bought it preferred a soft case 😯, the case is worth more than the bass 😄
  14. Hi billy, it does add warmth , and aswell as compressing it boosts whichever you select of the dark medium or light, the subsonic filter didn’t make any difference but maybe it would if you were recording.
  15. I’m not an experienced compressor user but I’ve got the Ashdown macchiato , it works very well for me, and having the dark, medium and light controls allows the bass ,middle and treble to be compressed individually. when activated it also gives a bit of a boost to the volume 🙂
  16. Thanks Crawford, I’ll take a look 👍
  17. Thank you, that makes perfect sense 🙂
  18. Hi tom, I’m a massive fan of yours and your videos are superb , I’d like to have some lessons some time in the future 🙂, I do use tab on occasions, can I ask why you don’t recommend it .
  19. Yeah, I haven’t heard it in ages, such a great band , it was released in 1981 , this one was 1978 🙂
  20. Very nice Raslee, and what a cool colour 👍
  21. I’ve never known a thread to de-rail 😄, but do you think the OP should go for flats or rounds 🤐
  22. I’ve played this many times but I’m working on nailing it note for note today
  23. Out of interest, Does that mean all my US and MIM jazz basses have Roswell pickups .
  24. Imo, this is a very good idea, you can’t really go wrong with a Sandberg, there’s a long thread about them on here and to my knowledge I don’t think anyone has had a bad one, they play very nice and are well built , also at that price, if for some reason you don’t like it you won’t lose much money , good luck with your search TJ1, I look forward to seeing what you get 🙂
