  1. Welcome, and you’re never too old to start playing bass 🙂
  2. Hi stig there’s a bit of info here 🙂 http://www.vintagehofner.co.uk/hofner2/artb.html
  3. Nice shim on a bass I saw for sale recently 😁
  4. Hi Ethan, Depending on what style of bass you want, I wouldn’t rule out a Yamaha BB , I bought a nice bb 415 just to try out, and I’m definitely keeping it 🙂
  5. I hope all goes well Sam and you are able to carry on playing bass.
  6. Hi casapete, although they are called low tension flats they certainly aren’t floppy but they are not as high as the fender flats, so I would say yes , kinda low to medium , I play with a fairly light touch so the benefits for me are they fret very easily with minimal effort and suit my playing style . After being on quite a string quest the last few years it’s nice to find a set that feel good 🙂
  7. They certainly won’t do that they are very smooth and a nice tension 🙂
  8. If you like flats Dave, I guarantee you will love these, 👍
  9. After a bit of searching there doesn’t seem to be any info on the fender flats string tension, and I’ve looked in the box that mine came in , and no info , so I’ve emailed fender , I’ll let you know what they say 🙂
  10. I don’t use rounds, but labella give the string tension of the , LTF-4A Low Tension Flats 42-100 , here , not sure if that helps casapete 🙂 Stainless Steel Flat Wound Round cores for greater flexibility and narrower ribbon for an unrivaled smooth feeling Light Tension Total Tension in Lbs: 134.90 (1st 36.2, 2nd 34, 3rd 30.5, 4th 34.2) String Gauges: .042, .056, .075, .100 Standard Long Scale Set Made in the USA with American Wire Packaged using MAP Technology (Modified Atmosphere Packaging) to prevent tarnishing and ensure freshness All standard bass sets are LONG scale length. The 1st (G), 2nd (D), 3rd (A) strings are 38” from ball-end to silk/taper. The 4th (E) string is 36 ¾” from ball-end to silk/taper. Only the silk portion of the string should wrap around the tuning post or else the string will break.
  11. I’ve had a set of Adagio flats on for nearly 3 years and they haven’t really changed much tone wise , maybe mellowed a bit, which I like, and the tension is good, but they are on a jazz I don’t play constantly , probably around 6 hours a week , but well worth the money IMO, my main jazz has tapewounds 🙂
  12. I’m loving the labella LTF’s 🙂
  13. If you like it and it sounds good , and feels good, then just play it, any modifications you can do at your leisure ( it might not need any )🙂
  14. As jus Lukin says, It’s a strap button , my 62RI had one , and the 60s custom shops have them 🙂
  15. Earlier this year I bought my first 5 , it’s a Yamaha bb 415 , 41mm nut width which is really comfortable, nice string spacing and a super low action, so easy to play and it sounds great, and within budget, I would recommend one of these 🙂
  16. Very nice indeed, and the black hardware looks great ☝️
  17. You could maybe cut some slots in a fairly firm piece of foam and push it over the unused strings, similar to this but on the top 🙂
  18. Great video gjones, I like it where he says he hasn’t changed his strings in 46 years 🙂
  19. Great video, really enjoyed that, I’m looking at limelight’s at the moment , thanks 🙂
