  1. I had a bit of a Marley day today and played a few tunes i haven’t played in a while
  2. My only experience with Trace gear has been in a few studios, it was ok but it didn’t make me want to rush out and buy it, I prefer Ashdown myself, I still have a mag 300 combo which went everywhere with me at one time, it’s battered and lives in my summerhouse now, but it’s still going strong , also with Ashdown you’ve always got the great, after sales service 🙂
  3. I think In this instance it’s to build speed when crossing strings using alternating picking , but whatever works for you , raking works for me but I don’t really play any super fast lines though.
  4. I’m working on a favourite of mine which I’ve seen Robbie play live , not the easiest to nail
  5. If you’re looking at building speed, Mark gives some good tips and exercises in this video
  6. Hi @ped I’d like to pay my subscription, I don’t really sell much but I’d like to do my bit to help support the site, could you send me the link to pay, cheers Tony
  7. I started playing guitar mainly for ear training myself on chords and playing modes and scales over them , but I felt that I was missing out on my bass playing too much so I gave it up, it’s bass only for me 🙂
  8. I didn’t take any notice of Abba in their day, but listening to them now I realise how good they really were
  9. Maybe try a 6 string bass
  10. Here’s one of mine and I get no buzz or clank and very little string noise, if I played aggressively I probably would ,but I’ve got a fairly light touch and I get a nice deep clean tone.
  11. Another purchase from Patrick, exactly as described and received in a few days, top guy, thanks Tony.
  12. That’s cool, I like that tune.
  13. I’ve never really taken any notice of weight, it’s not put me off buying anything, a friends 77 jazz is 10.5 lbs and that’s fine for me, but I think 12 lbs would be uncomfortable on the shoulder even with a good strap for a long period
  14. I’ve just fitted my jazz neck to a P bass body and it was slightly tight, so I scraped the paint from the neck pocket and cleaned it up with sandpaper and it fitted like a glove, it might be worth trying this before you have a neck made for 0.08 of a mm 🙂
  15. Hi Ian, I’ll post a few pics later when I get home, you can’t really see on this one, but when I had this made I asked holger at Sandberg for a low action, it came at 1.25 mm with no buzz
  16. I’d say that’s not ply , but they have laminated the timber to get the width for the headstock, if it was ply you would see the lines on the curve of the neck .
  17. For me it’s not about the tone, I find it much less effort fretting my basses compared with my friends jazz which is about 3.5mm at the 12th ,it’s just hard work, and I can’t hear any difference in the tone between them.
  18. If I played hard I probably would , but I only use flats and have a light touch so it’s minimal string noise ,and so much easier for me to play than a high action 🙂
  19. All my jazzes are between 1and 1.5mm at the 12th E unfretted with no buzz , which is perfect for me as I play with a fairly light touch, and my Sandberg is 1mm and it will go lower
  20. What a great project, I like that, I’m looking forward to seeing what you do Maude
  21. Hi Brian, WDmusic have various jazz necks with a 12” radius, https://www.wdmusic.co.uk/necks-c60/bass-necks-c61/wd-music-jazz-bass-neck-with-ebony-fingerboard-satin-finish-p247
  22. Yeah, loving that mike ☝️
