Hi Dunk, welcome, i too recently spoke to mark about a jazz build and was told it would be about 16 weeks, I don’t think I can wait that long 😁, so I’m hoping to get one sooner if I can, I’ll look forward to seeing yours when it’s done 👍
Yeah good, I really like the muted sound sometimes and I’ve always used foam under the strings , and still do on a few other basses, but the good thing about the bassmute is with just a flick of the lever you can have 3 types of mute from light to full on , or completely off .
I did both, I put one of my favourite jazz necks on an old P body I really like , and fitted a tonerider pickup with a kiogon loom , and with Labella LTF’s , it sounds great. But normally I’m jazz all the way 🙂
I don’t know why people remove the logo and replace it with a fender one, I’ve got a tokai jazz and someone had done the same thing, it didn’t bother me too much because it is such a nice playing jazz , mine has the same string tree and tuners and is a sparkle finish, but the hardware on the OP’s one is different to mine.
The fine sponge pads will take a slight edge off the gloss ,but it will dull the finish very slightly, we use them in the spray shop in between lacquer coats.
I’m putting some time aside at the moment to play some Marley which i haven’t played much for a while, I dug out my Rastaman vibration album on vinyl and it reminded me of this tune which wasn’t on the original album but released as a single around 1975 , nice Bassline 🙂
Welcome Dan, my preference is mark on Talkingbass.net , and Tony grey bass academy, also MarloweDK - play bass now.com is an amazing player and a good teacher, I’ll put a few videos on just to take you to the sites 🙂
My favourite bridges are the fender vintage style with threaded saddles , I’ve got them on 3 jazzes and 1 P , if you’re changing to a high mass or similar, some have a thicker base plate which could can raise your action , might be worth just checking if you play with a really low action like me 🙂
